  1. As this is Chrome then I would update your CCleaner to v5.89.9401 which was released yesterday. Note that the '.9401' is important. (But if you update today you should be given that anyway). It may be that your issue is not related to the fix in that version, so if you are still having problems after updating then please come back.
  2. That is a 5 month old article from last September. CCleaner v5.89 addresses changes to Chrome cookies. https://www.ccleaner.com/knowledge/ccleaner-v5-89-9401
  3. I'm not sure what you are asking about there? Do you have a problem using CCleaner? Is it those 2 blank tiles?
  4. I'll make a note to the staff to check the licence server is working OK.
  5. I'll make a note to the staff to check the licence server is working OK.
  6. My first suspicion is that this may be an Antivius blocking the new CCleaner version from running? We do see that happen occasionally when it takes the AV time to update it's definitions and recognise the new CCleaner version. They see the new CCleaner version as 'different' so block it. Certain AV's have become particulary known for it, and taking time to update their definitions. I those cases once the AV does get a definition update it stops blocking CCleaner. It may be helpful if anyone else reporting this issues says in their post what antivirus they are using, and what version number the AV is. Please give the version number of the AV, just saying that it's 'up to date' is not realy helpful. (and not always correct). You can also gather logs and send them to support as stated in Dave CCleaner's post above: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/62106-ccleaner-589-immediately-closes-on-launch/#comment-334366
  7. If you have updated to CCleaner for Mac version 2.# then the user interface has changed, and some things have moved from where they were found with v1.#. See this thread:
  8. Which OS are you on Windows, Mac, or Android? Which version of CCleaner are you using?
  9. No problem, I agree that it is not very intuitive in Health Check that you need to untick that box. PS. In Health Check you do have to untick it every time that you clean and the browser is still running. That's why I asked which you were using. It's a different message/tickbox in Custom Clean, and Custom Clean can remember so you only have to do it once not everytime. Once Custom Clean is told not to clean an open browser and 'don't show this message again' is also ticked then if that browser is open it will always be skipped by Custom Clean. Examples from Custom Clean (Firefox but it would be the same for Chrome):
  10. You should see button to let you 'Skip' the cleaning without closing the Browser/app. Are you using Health Check or Custom Clean? (The message is slightly different in each). Your other query: The icon in your system tray is put there by Windows if you have either 'Smart Cleaning' or 'Updates' enabled in your CCleaner Options. Either of those runs as a background task, so Windows puts an icon for it in the tray.
  11. Can I ask what version and build of Windows 10 you are currently running? It may not be relevant, but when something odd like this is reported then you have to start looking if anything else is unusual. (eg. an old Win10 version). We are not disbelieving what you are saying, you run CCleaner your screensaver setting changes - but that is very odd and shouldn't happen so we are trying to work out what may be going on. Yes someone has to be first to report anything new happening, but nobody else is reporting this issue at all. If someone else was seeing the same issue then that would give us more info to work with. You can find the Windows version and build in Settings>System>About.
  12. Firstly; you say that you are unticking all the Custom Clean boxes and then running CCleaner? That would not clean anything at all if you ran Custom Clean. So are you using Health Check? The ticking/unticking of boxes on the Windows and Applications tabs is only for Custom Clean, they don't apply to Health Check which always does it's own thing. Perhaps more relevant - Are you running the Registry Cleaner as well? Redwolfe_98 is reluctant about that because screensaver settings is not something that CCleaner's cleaning would normally change. (Unless you specifically told it to with an 'include'). And as nobody else is reporting the same issue then It does tend to point to either something that you are doing differently, or something a bit different with your setttings. So you/we need to work out what that difference is. My first thought is that you may be running the registry cleaner and removing a registry entry, which is why I asked.
  13. That is all normal and is just the way that computers work. The link in my signature below this post explains it more. With "Privacy" I would expect that maybe you have your browser synced?
  14. Files deleted from a SSD are usually not recoverable. (unless they are still in the recycle bin). You'll see in the Recuva sub-forum that it's often stated that you can't recover files from a SSD that has TRIM enabled. https://www.stellarinfo.com/blog/myths-about-disk-wiping-and-solid-state-drives/ A bit more technical about TRIM and data recovery from SSDs: https://www.cleverfiles.com/howto/ssd-data-recovery.html
  15. Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing? I suspect that it may simply be that the 'everywhere online' you are looking at is showing the Windows version of CCleaner and not the Mac version. Because Windows OS and Mac OS are different the CCleaner versions for each have to be different, and they have different features/tools.
  16. It's more likely that a Windows Update has messed up your login. There is a new "Improved Boot Up Experience" which has broken logins for a number of Windows users following an update. Here are a couple of articles with more about it, and what to do to get back to normal: https://www.repairwin.com/fix-the-password-is-incorrect-after-update-in-windows-10/ https://www.passfab.com/windows-tips/windows-10-password-incorrect-after-update.html
  17. As Dave said above: ie. You are paying for extra features not for extra time. PS. I've removed your licence key from view but will put it where Admin can see it if they need to.
  18. The closest at the moment is if you right click on one of the files found and select 'Open Containing folder'. That will open the folder with the selected file already highlighted for you to open in the viewer of your choice for that filetype. Note that each one you 'Open containing folder' for will open a new File Explorer window, so if you do a lot you will have a lot of FE windows to close again.
  19. I'm not sure if you are saying you are having a problem with CCleaner itself or with the VPN? See this for how to overcome problems when registering CCleaner: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/204043844-How-to-register-and-activate-CCleaner-Professional As you are not using copy/paste (I'm not sure whey you say that you can't do that) then you need to be careful that you type it exactly the same. A common error is mistaking numbers for letters, 2/Z, 5/S, 8/B etc. I think though that you are talking about the HMA VPN. I believe that your purchase confirmation for CCleaner Pro Plus with Premium should tell you about how to do that, and should include a weblink to HMA and a HMA Activation KEY. See this from the HMA website about activation keys for HMA: https://support.hidemyass.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000120528-Activation-retail-keys-how-to-activate-your-license https://my.hidemyass.com/en-eu/#activate
  20. When all is said and done only you can decide which files you want to keep and which you don't. Nobody else can make that decision for you, and certainly an application can't do it for you. Duplicate Finder is a powerful search tool if used right, but like any tool you have to learn to use it and use it carefully. You are going the right way to start with, you just need to do a bit more. As you say you should leave the system files alone, always set duplicate finder to ignore them. (unless you have a specific problem with some system files). In fact if you don't know just (exactly) what any duplicate file found is then it's best to leave it alone. Only delete something if you are certain that you don't need/want it. In your case you say that it is accidentally copied/duplicated music and photo files that you are looking for, so there are a few things you can do to narrow that search down. To start with as they have been copied from the same place then any such accidental duplicates will have the same file formats and the same names. (unless you did something to change them during the copying). So when setting up the search path set it to look only for music filetypes. Those will typically be .mp3 or .mp4 files, but there are other possibilities. https://www.canto.com/blog/audio-file-types/ Let's say your music files are either .mp3 files or mp4 files. Use the 'Add' button to set the search path and filetypes. (Use 'Browse' to set the Drive/Folder). The below would set the search path to search for .mp3 and .mp4 duplicates in any subfolder of drive 'C'. (I've done both types at the same time here, but you could do one type at once). Then set the Match by and Ignore like this - this tells it to search all of drive 'C' and only find duplicate .mp3 files with the same name and the same contents, or duplicate .mp4 files with the same name and the same contents. So clicking on search would look in all subfolders on the 'C' drive for all .mp3 or .mp4 files that have the same name and the same contents. Note. You could search on name only and not contents, but then you should be doubly careful of the results - just because 2 files in different folders have the same name doesn't mean they are the same. But again - once it has found those duplicates for you then you still have to decide which ones you want to keep or not, only you can know that. The first question I would ask there is what app are you using to play your music, open that app and see what folder it is looking to play the music from. (Normally that would be 'C;\users\{username}\music' but it could have been set to something else if you store your music elsewhere). Whatever that folder is then that's probably the one with the files that you want to keep. As you say you think there are also accidentally duplicated photos then once you have done the music files you would do the same kind of search but using whatever image file extension you normally use. If none of the above helps then if you could let us know the full pathnames of any 2 files that you are certain are duplicates we should be able to suggest how to search for them. (Preferably 2 of the music duplicates and 2 of the photo duplicates)
  21. As Anadvari notes they are 2 completely different browsers, and they work in completely different ways. It might have been better if Microsoft had called the new one a completely new name, but they didn't. If you have a recent Windows 10 version then you should just have the 'Edge -Chromium' version installed and the OLD Edge should have been automatically removed from your machine by Microsoft. However there are still some using older Windows 10 versions with the OLD Edge. Some (particularly some business users) have re-enabled OLD Edge on new Windows 10 versions for compatibility with particular software, and so they have both old and new Edge browsers. And for a while during the changeover most people had both Edge browsers on their machines, and could use whichever one they chose. So because the old version of Edge is still in use by some people CCleaner still lists it, and still cleans it if it's there. I suspect that in future that will change and CCleaner will do a check and only list OLD Edge if it is actually on the machine, but for now it just lists both.
  22. TBH I've never selected it, I'll pass your comment about the documentation upwards.
  23. I'm not sure why you are so convinced that CCleaner is accessing the net during a Custom Clean called from a command window? You do say that when you call CCleaner from your script it takes 8 seconds after your script calls it for it to terminate, and I agree. My testing using your exact command copied and pasted in agrees, I paste your command into a command window press return and about 8 seconds later CCleaner finishes and the command prompt comes back ready for the next command. It takes the same 8 seconds whether the computer has an internet connection or not. Interestingly, for a further test, I just opened the CCleaner GUI and ran a Custom Clean from there. And guess what? From clicking on the 'Run Cleaner' button until the clean finished and displayed the results took about 8 seconds. So all my testing is simply saying to me that a Custom Clean of an already fairly clean computer takes about 8 seconds to run. It doesn't matter if you do it from a command line or from the GUI, it's still 8 seconds. I think you are reading far too much into those 8 seconds (possibly prompted by some reading on the internet?), and 8 seconds is simply how long CCleaner is taking to analyze your computer for junk and remove it. I realise though that if you truly believe otherwise then you are not going to change your mind, no matter what testing I do for you or what I say. So in that case I can't think of anything further to add.
  24. There are a few way you can do this. There should be a link in your purchase confirmation email to download CCleaner Pro. Click that link and follow the instructions. Or use the following link to download the CCleaner Pro installer. Double click the downloaded 'ccsetup###_pro.exe' file to install CCleaner - at the end of the install if you leave 'Run CCleaner' ticked it will ask you for your licence key . (If you untick 'Run CCleaner' then it will ask for the key the first time that you do run CCleaner): https://www.ccleaner.com/go/get_ccpro Or you could simply download the CCleaner Free installer from here and then register it: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds If you have CCleaner Free installed (or an unregistered CCleaner Professional) then you have to register it to use the Pro features. Open CCleaner Free. (or unregistered Pro). Go to Options>About>Upgrade to Pro. Enter your registration key as prompted. Click on register. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More details about registering CCleaner can be found here, with advice and help for if you encounter any problems: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/204043844-How-to-register-and-activate-CCleaner-Professional
  25. Without saying that you are wrong: You keep asserting that the time you are seeing CCleaner take to run is due to CCleaner 'phoning home'. But you haven't said why you think that is happening, other than a vague statement that: Where/how did you "discover" that? It isn't what my testing shows, my testing shows the the time taken is the same even when CCleaner cannot even connect to the internet to 'phone home'. So I have to conclude that the 8 seconds or so that we are seeing is just the normal time taken to run an analyze/clean from a command prompt. 8 seconds or so to Analyze all of the possible locations where junk may be on your drive seems pretty quick to me. I'm also struggling a bit to understand why you think that CCleaner would run and complete 'instantly' without taking the time needed to analyze/clean whatever junk there may be to clean? If I called any app that finished instantly I'd assume that the call had faulted and the app had not run at all. (Wrong command syntax, wrong path called, etc). And of course if you have error reporting turned off in you script/batch then you wouldn't get an error message that it had faulted.
