Sorry if it came across like that, we never know how experienced or inexperienced any new poster is so tend to err on the simplistic side.

Agreed that the dumbing down has gone too far.
But in the case of duplicate files you have to use your own brain to decide which you want and which you can get rid of.
I don't know which copies you want to keep, and any software certainly doesn't - you have to decide that for yourself.
-
It's called 'Duplicate Finder'. (Not Duplicate deleter).
It will find duplicate files, and show you where those duplicates are saved.
It will show all versions of a file, the original as well as any duplicates, so it won't let you just delete everything.
Duplicate Finder can save you hours of searching, but it can't read your mind.
There is no way that any computer programme can know which ones you want to delete and which ones you want to keep.
So Duplicate Finder won't do that. You have to look at the results yourself, and decide for yourself if you want to keep something or not.

Yes, Trend...
I thought so - it's a problem with Trend Micro.
More than one user has reported that once Trend Micro is updated to 2020 then CCleaner works as expected again.
Updating Trend Micro from within Trend Micro itself will tell you that you are up to date - but you may not be.
You may have the 2018 or 2019 versions of TM, so while that version is up to date itself it is not the latest TM version. You may need to download and install the TM 2020 upgrade - go to this page to 'grab' the 2020 upgrade.
https://esupport.trendmicro.com/en-us/home/pages/technical-support/maximum-security/home.aspxIf that still doesn't clear the problem, try Whitelisting ccleaner in Trend Micro 2020 following the directions in this post

I've never seen that one, but yes it's just a marketing reminder for anyone using the free version for business.
-
Good to hear that you got it working.
-
IP board can be very strange at times.
-
Ah, I think that we may know the issue, which antivirus are you using?
-
Don't mean to tread on your toes Nergal but i thought those links were better removed.

From the free version-
From the Pro version-
Which one are you seeing?
-
We need a bit more information.
What you describe looks like a Windows version issue.
(Maybe you have Windows 10 but set for compatibility with an earlier Windows version?)We'll assume that this is a new CCleaner download so v5.65.
Which Windows version are you using? Is it set for compatability with an earlier version?
Which anti virus are you using? -
Which AntiVirus are you using? (I'm betting on Trend Micro 2019 or possibly McAfee).

Nobody has given an answer yet.
But as a quick answer then yes - just dismiss the notification and carry on, CCleaner will work as normal.
The '@' and blue names just mean that I've flagged this topic to Dave and Stephen who are Piriform staff members, to see if they have any knowledge of why this may be happening to you.
Because I've done it like that they will get a notification to pay attention to your question as soon as they log on.
As it's currently 30 minutes past midnight in the UK that may not be until tomorrow, they may already be in bed. -
Never heard of that before.
All I can think is that maybe the previously used motherboard has come from a business computer that used to have CCleaner business edition installed?
Or maybe something else is flagging it as being a business computer?@Dave CCleaner @Stephen CCleaner any insights on this?

Go to Options>About and click on the blue 'Upgrade to Pro' button.
Enter your registered name and licence key and click on 'Register'.
PS. The name must be the same name that you registered, and many people make mistakes with numbers/letters if typing in their key - copy/paste it from the email to avoid that.

Long filenames have always been a problem with Windows.
And as it's a Windows / OS problem then what any software can do to help get round the problem it is limited.https://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/how-to-fix-filename-is-too-long-issue-in-windows/

You did say in your original post that it was downloaded software, you didn't mention anything about photos.

No debe poner su dirección de correo electrónico a la vista.
Cuando compra CCleaner Android en la tienda de Google, Google sabe que ha pagado y registra el producto por usted, por lo que no hay clave / código para ingresar.
You should not put your email address in plain view.

Just to add that whatever defragmenter you use Windows will still run it's own defragmenter/optimiser in the background occasionally, about once a week.

There has been a disconnect between what is reported as found to clean and what is reported as being cleaned for a long while now.
It's not just Health Check, Custom Clean does it as well.
It has been reported in the past well before Health Check was even thought of.
Which suggests that it's something burried deep in old programming that is the glitch. But it isn't as noticable in Custom Clean as it is in Health Check, so we are now seeing more reports of the discrepancy.
It's with the developers to look at what is causing it.As far as we can tell from this side, CCleaner is cleaning what it should do, it's just getting the on screen numbers wrong somewhere.

As for the time it took to search that's down to the settings that you specified.
Try unticking 'Content' so that it's not searching inside the files.
And tick 'Ignore' for System Files, Hidden files etc. - only search for your own files.

Different job is more like it. And it depends how you are using Defragller.
All defragmenters work in different ways, and so you can't realy compare one to another.
To start with you don't say which Windows version you have.
Win10's defrag takes a lot longer than Win7's defrag, - because they do different things.
It all depends on what you want your defragmenter to do.
- Defragment each individual file so that it loads and runs marginally faster?
- Put all your files together on the disc so that you have more free space?
- Put all your files together on the disc so that you have more free space, even if it means fragmenting some files?
Most users of defraggler use the first one and defragment files rather than defragging the whole disc.
With todays terrabyte drives defragmenting a whole disk just takes too long whatever defragmenter you use.
(If it's quick then it's skipping things and not telling you it has).Open Defraggler and analyze, when it's done that click on View Files, tick all the files (there's a box at the top of the list) and then click Defrag Checked.
That defragments each file without bothering about the rest of the empty disc space. -
You have posted in the CCleaner browser section, is your question about the CCleaner browser, or about CCleaner itself?
As well as that please say which Windows version you are using, and which antivirus programme you are using.
How do I make an added search engine default?
in CCleaner Browser
Posted
I don't use CCleaner browser myslef, but that page I linked says - "To change the default search provider:"
Is it not doing that?
