  1. With the Pro-plus package you do need to download each of the applications seperately, and register each one using the same key. It's done that way so that you can pick if you want to download/register just a couple or all of them. You need to ignore all the marketing information, simply download the free versions and then use the key you have purchased to register each one. To avoid all the marketing information you can download the installers for each one from these simple pages: CCleaner: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds Defraggler: https://www.ccleaner.com/defraggler/builds Recuva: https://www.ccleaner.com/Recuva/builds Speccy: https://www.ccleaner.com/Speccy/builds Once downloaded and installed you go to 'Options>About' or 'Help>About' and click on 'Upgrade to Pro', enter your registered name/key, and then click 'Register'.
  2. You can already do that by saving the results of the Duplicate Finder search to a text file. However it is not possible to run the Duplicate Finder from the command line, it must be run from within CCleaner.
  3. CCleaner's cleaning functions are fine to use with SSD's. With the caveat that you shouldn't need to use 'Secure file deletion'. Only use 'Normal file deletion'. Secure deletion is not needed on a SSD, and just gives unnecessary overwrites. Also avoid 'Drive Wiper' and 'Wipe Free Space' (which is temporarily disabled anyway while a potential issue is investigated), again they are not needed with a SSD and would just give unnecessary overwrites. Not SSD related, but if you have Windows 10 then I wouldn't use the registry cleaner either. It can cause problems with Win 10.
  4. How are you trying to renew? How long is left on your current licence? Do you have a subscription? If you have a subscription then it will renew automatically, you can mange that from within CCleaner itself: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020674812-How-do-I-manage-my-CCleaner-subscription-#how-do-i-manage-my-ccleaner-subscription--0-0 If you don't have a subscription then you should get a reminder to renew shortly before your current licence expires: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045224272-Can-I-renew-CCleaner-early- If you are still having trouble then each of those webpages contains a contact link for the support team, or you can send them an email to support@ccleaner.com
  5. Did you not see the big red banner at the top of this page, and every page of the CCleaner forum?
  6. And now Edge Chromium is also rejecting/disabling Google's FLoC (for now at least). https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/microsoft-disables-googles-floc-tracking-in-microsoft-edge-for-now/
  7. Did you run DISM before SFC? What kind of 'mild' problems are you seeing? (It may simply be that some settings you had previously altered have now been set back to their defaults by the SFC repair).
  8. I suggest that you use 2 Windows built in tools, DISM, and then SFC, to check/repair your Windows installation. These are 'go-to' tools that anyone techie will use now and again when Windows isn't working right for whatever reason. (and using a reg cleaner could be a good reason why). The basic options are pretty simple to use, but they do run in a command window so there's no fancy graphics or buttons. Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) checks the Windows 'image' stored on your machine, and repairs it if necessary. After the image has been restored to a healthy state, you then have to use the System File Checker (SFC) tool to repair the current setup. Here is the quick guide: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/using-system-file-checker-in-windows-10-365e0031-36b1-6031-f804-8fd86e0ef4ca This goes into more detail, with some screenshots of what you will see, but maybe too much details about the various DISM options for what you need, you should only need use the "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" options: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-dism-command-line-utility-repair-windows-10-image Have patience with the tools, they may look as if they have 'stuck' and are doing nothing for a while, but that is normal. Give each one at least 30 mins. You can sometimes try "SFC /scannow" without using DISM first - but if the image is damaged then then SFC won't work on it's own. So it's best to do both in the right order. PS. It's best not to use any registry cleaner with Windows 10 (unless you know there is already a problem with the registry) the Win 10 registry changes too often, but I guess you have probably already decided that for yourself. PPS. If the reg. entries that have been removed are also giving issues for installed applications rather than Windows itself then you are probably best re-installing the affected application.
  9. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/wordpress-to-automatically-disable-google-floc-on-websites/ Vivaldi, Brave, and DuckDuckGo have also already said they are rejecting FLoC: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/vivaldi-brave-duckduckgo-reject-googles-floc-ad-tracking-tech/
  10. I'll raise a glass to that. PS. Enjoy your Sunday roast, however you choose to carve it.
  11. I'm not sure just what you mean by that, if you mean something else then let us know - but I suspect that you are talking about the CCleaner icon in the Sytem Tray? If so they you are the second this week to raise this query, and it isn't Smart Cleaning that is putting the icon there. "Keep CCleaner Updated Automatically", which was recently added as a bonus to CCleaner Free, now also runs a different background task if it is enabled and so Windows puts an icon in the tray. If you turn off Automatic Updating then the icon should disappear as it did for that other user earlier this week: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/60331-smart-cleaning-starts-with-windows-even-when-disabled/?tab=comments#comment-328448 However there is a very slight possibility that you are one of those few (around 4 posts were made about it) who were affected by a rare glitch with Windows Task Scheduler. If so then you should have been first affected back in November (and presumably hadn't noticed until now). If you have been affected by that rare Task Scheduler glitch then this link tells you how to fix it: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/59567-cleaner-5748198-runs-smart-cleaning-even-though-i-unchecked-smart-cleaning/?tab=comments#comment-325149 I've had a rant or two at Piriform myself in the past. (And I admit at least one of them was my missunderstanding.) But this is a user forum and as users we can only advise you, if you choose not to take that advice then that is your choice.
  12. @Rostia CCleaner This glitch has been going on for a while, to save you a bit of searching here are some previous threads about it: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/57030-ccleaner-v5647613-cleaning-duplication-doubling-bug/?tab=comments#comment-315847 https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/59682-duplicate-items-are-listed-to-be-cleaned-after-analysis-in-v-5758238/?tab=comments#comment-325613 https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/59202-ccleaner-duplicates-all-items-on-selection-window/?tab=comments#comment-323371 I've occasionally seen it myself, but it's intermittent and very infrequent. So it's seemingly impossible to replicate reliably. Best of luck tracking it down.
  13. Glad to help, that now rules out the automatic updater putting the icon there but is your Startup still showing Smart Cleaning as enabled? Do a restart and if Smart Cleaning is still showing 'enabled' then I suggest that you follow the steps as linked.
  14. Good, Note that the system Tray Icon may also be put there if you have "Keep CCleaner Automatically Updated" selected on Options>Update. Automatic updating is fairly new in the Free version and is now also accomplished by means of a Windows background task so Windows puts the icon in the tray. (It checks at boot and then once every 12 hours for a CCleaner version update). Of course your screenshot shows that the Smart Cleaning is enabled. I think that what you are seeing is an odd glitch that popped up for some users when that Automatic Updating was first introduced. (In which case it's probably been going on a while for you, since last November or so although you may not have noticed before). For some reason, for some users, Windows Task Scheduler got confused between the different background tasks for Smart Cleaning and Automatic Updating. Try following the steps in this post which worked to clear it up: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/59567-cleaner-5748198-runs-smart-cleaning-even-though-i-unchecked-smart-cleaning/?tab=comments#comment-325149
  15. When you say that Smart Cleaner is re-enabling itself to launch with Windows what is it that you are seeing that makes you believe that? Could you also post a screenshot of what you are seeing on the Startup Tab? If it's just the startup tab then I believe that you may be missunderstanding the startup tab options. (If it's something else then we can take a look). 'Deleting' and entry from CCleaners Startup list simply removes it from that list, it doesn't actually remove the task from Windows or change it's status. 'Disabling' a task stops it from being run by Windows.
  16. I originally posted that from my phone and just edited it to add the link at the same time that johnccleaner commented.
  17. Windows 10 itself will occasionaly "intelligently" defrag an SSDs, as well as the more usual/frequent optimise. https://www.hanselman.com/blog/the-real-and-complete-story-does-windows-defragment-your-ssd (Although there have been past reports of Windows defragging SSD's too often, and also sometimes trying to 'Trim' HDDs. Looks like Microsoft have more work to do on drive type recognition).
  18. I can attest that Windows OS can still see drives as the wrong type. I recently bought an SSD to swap with the HDD in this laptop, but when connected by USB in an external enclosure Win 10 20H2 wrongly sees the new drive as an HDD. However if I connect it to a different laptop with Win 10 1909 that sees it correctly as an SSD. (The drive swap is on hold for now while I figure it out, or possibly Windows will sort itself out with 21H1?).
  19. Have you successfuly installed CCleaner? It should show as an installed app if you have installed it. Usually just above Cortana. (The portable version won't show of course because that is not installed). Is it showing in CCleaner's own uninstall tool?
  20. Inspired by this thread: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/60322-windows-10-hklm-registry-keys-not-honoured-for-non-admin-users/?tab=comments#comment-328394 How about the ability to disable GUI buttons for features/tools that you don't want to be used? Or that you don't want your kids or other members of your family using easily. eg. Preventing your kids from cleaning the registry or wiping a drive, just to see what it does. It could be made something as simple as a right-click option to 'Disable/Enable this button/tool'.
  21. TBH they are not something that Piriform would want users to be changing anyway. They'd want everyone to be using the standard GUI. Those reg keys are 'leftover' from the development of the features which is why if you turn off the Health Check button you then get a button for the earlier 'Easy Clean' instead, and have to turn that off too - although the reg key still calls it the even earlier 'Quick Clean'. Both Quick Clean and Easy Clean (and Software Updater) were earlier versions on the development path of Health Check and the reg keys were so they could be easily turned on/off during trials so that only certain users saw them. (Which caused some confusion at the time, especially with Software Updater which kept coming and going). I agree that it could be useful if you could turn off the GUI buttons/tools that you don't want to use, or don't want other to use. Leaving them visible but disabled would maybe be a better option, and easier to implement. I've added it as a suggestion for inculsion in CCleaner V6. https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/60017-share-your-ideas-for-ccleaner-60/?tab=comments#comment-327123
  22. You may (or may not) already be aware that if you use Chrome above version 89 then you may have been recruited without your knowledge in a trial by Google of a replacement for 3rd party cookies. This shouldn't happen if you are in Europe because of GDPR, but who knows with Google, and if you use a VPN that says you are outside Europe then Google may see you as fair game. It's only Google Chrome that's affected for now, but Google's eventual idea is to implement it for all Chromium based browsers. It's called FLoC and is a new way of 'fingerprinting' you and putting you in a group of users with similar browsing habits so that your browsing habits can then be used by Google and/or sold on to advertisers. There is now a quick one-click check that can tell you if you have been recruited without knowing it, along with more information about what FLoC is , and how to opt out: https://amifloced.org/ As I understand it, FLoC currently works by collecting your Chrome browsing history once a week. Using CCleaner to clear Chrome's 'Internet History' daily would seem an obvious way of ensuring there is nothing, or very little, to be collected. (That won't work if your browser is Synced though). If you have CCleaner Pro you can set Smart Cleaning to clean Chrome as you close it. Of course some users will want to keep their history so can't use that option.
  23. That wouldn't work, the .ini saves CCleaner's settings but not the registry keys . Those particular reg. keys change the appearance of the GUI and that can't be set from within CCleaner itself. (Although maybe you should be able to do so as advanced options.).
  24. Good to hear. That sounds as if it may have been a problem at the download server, or somewhere on route to the server, that has now been fixed.
  25. Do those keys not also need adding to each user profile in "HKEY_USERS\{profilename}\Software\Piriform\CCleaner" for each of the non-admin users? (or maybe just in HKEY_CURRENT_USER ?).
