Well, Cowboy, I hear what you're saying - but my experience has been that if something runs quite ok and you have no problems for three or four weeks and then you install something else and everything goes bananas - you would have to use some weird kind of logic to blame the one that has been fine up till then!!!!! I well know the Norton and McAfee knocking arguments - I found problems with McAfee but have had Norton for a year already without anything going wrong - so I speak as I find.
As a result of what has happened since running CCleaner I am putting my computer in the hospital for a bit of TLC - I don't think I have time to sort out all the things that have gone wrong.
I carefully selected for it ONLY to clean WMP, incidentally, and read all the stuff about how to use it, too........It didn't even manage to do that properly or I might have tried to overlook the rest!
Never mind - live and learn, etc. I've heard about other folks downloading items that knocked their systems for a whammy! CCleaner has been my turn.
Thanks to all you people who wrote re this subject - I will be logging off for good now. CCleaner will be cleaned shortly and I can go back to my happy existence in cyberspace.
Bye now
