    API

Hi Is there any API, free or commercial, that can be used for data deletion. I would prefer something with Gutmann method (35 pass) where selective folders can be deleted. Something preferable in C# or C++. I have done a search but sadly due to the nature of what I want an enormous amount of results are nothing more than 'secure data deletion' articles / blogs unrelated to anything I want and don't even remotely mention anything programming related. Thanks in advance.
  2. I attempted to do my first free memory wipe using CCleaner today. The first progress bar took less than an hour then suddenly the second appeared and this is the result: http://imgur.com/5kdXLiJ I can appreciate that the Gutmann performs 35 passes but honestly I feel it would just be easier backing up data and doing a full wipe using a neodymium magnet or just buying a new drive altogether. Is it normal for this to take so long? What is unusual is after cancelling and checking using Recuva no recoverable files were found. So I am confused now. Please note I did allow the first progress bar to complete, this second one just isn't going to happen as my comp is NEVER on for that long and the drive being inactive for so long would be unacceptable.
  3. I am trying to make use of the CCleaner.exe /DELETE "path_to_file(s)" /METHOD "0-3" command located https://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/advanced-usage/command-line-parameters and it doesn't seem to be working as intended. Using it brings a CCleaner message saying if I would like to continue, when I click yes, it deletes but does a delete + empty recycle style delete. I used recuva to check and nothing was overwritten. I have tried all angles with this even screwing up the parameters to see if its just me and it just doesn't work as expected. Following approaches were used: - UAC set to lauch admin access - tried 64 / 32 bit version - removed / added quotes (though this results in a CCleaner error) - tested on all delete types (from Simple -> Very Complex) Nothing seems to be working and files delete BUT are recoverable.
