  1. Did you use the control panel to uninstall? If you did, go to your program file (start>mycomputer>drive C>program files) and delete CC from there. Then go back to the control panel and see if it is still there. If so, uninstall again and windows will (should) tell you it isn't there.
  2. One last thought: Go to your device manager and see if you have any yellow question marks. If so, try to reinstall the drivers. Plug and play errors can at times be corrected that way.
  3. AMEN! Help is a valid request, especially for those of us that are only mere mortals. Pay no attention to the peanut gallery. It is our cross to bear. Now to your question: I don't have a clue other than you may have a virus and some parts were removed. If you can run a scan disk and click attempt to repair it might help. Anyone else have any ideas? Enclosed is a picture of our resident expert.
  4. That's a new one and probably not cc. If you haven't made any major changes (hard drive, video, etc.) you should be able to boot in safe mode and go to last known good configuration, or restore the system to a time when all was well.
  5. Don't know for sure, but I suspect that is true. Look at the specs, and if they do almost the same thing, there is no advantage to duplicate software, and a host of conflict possibilities.
  6. A router firewall is about as good as it get's without duplicating software. I have found they fight with each other more than protect.
  7. Install 2 network cards on the pc connected to the net, make sure you have 2 functioning ethernet ports, and connect with a crossover cable. Microsoft forgot to mention the 2 cards. Bear in mind that sharing the connection means sharing it's ability, so there is not much to be gained with a slow connection except slower.

Thanks. Google kept returning german with an apple every now and then, so my fears are realized. Guess I will pick an apple.

    unknown ram

Does anyone know what pc-100 h-sd ram and pc- 100-222-60120 ram will fit? I bought it used, and can't seem to get it to work in optiplex. Could probably use it if I can find out what it fits. Any help would be appreciated. Bought a pig in a poke cheap, as usual. It's supposed to be sdram, but can't get it to work on 7 different old dell computers.
  11. I just wish they could heal my xterra.
  12. Hooray! Let the little (I hope) buggers get their own planet to mess up.
  13. Can't bypass it, or I have had no luck. I have an os on one of my machines that was on it when I got it that is not legal. I checked with microsoft, and all you need to do is set for automatic updates and it will be done, legal or no. I tried it, and it installed everything including sp2. Can't ask for more.
  14. Really nice. Don't have to look at the maze of cords, and it is a space saver.
  15. Copy the downloaded program (save it) and install on the new computer, and install to the flash drive. Then the entries will be there, minus the flash when you depart.
  16. A EMachine wil shut it's self down after being left on for a while, particularly if there is any kind of power surge. Unplug it completely, wait a while, and then plug it in and see if it boots. Failing in that fix, bear in mind that they are also prone to power supply failure. I recently replaced mine for the second time in 3 years. Leaving it on will not bother it, especially if there is a surge supressor. Is the computer booted, or is there no power? Active x controls are what allows active content to run on the screen in it's simplest form. Moving objects, etc. Active x controls must be enabled for some things to download or run. If you are having a problem, hold down the ctrl key when you click on a site that pops up the notice at the top. That will disable the safety procedure and allow you to proceed.

    My 2 CD Drives

If it is in fact a dell, you can enter the bios on boot by pressing F2. If you get in, set both drives to auto. I recently installed a second drive in a dell,so I am sure that is how it functions.

    Restore disk

Bought a old Dell computer at an auction for charity. It has xp pro, but no restore disk. Only had a 6gb HD, so I installed a second drive and backed up everything to the new drive. Can I make a disk from that to restore this dinasour? I have reached the peter principle. I googled it, and there seems to be volumes on the subject. Anyone know the best solution?

  21. Make that www.snapfiles.com
  22. The easiest way is go to: www.snapfiles.com, click freeware, and search for faststone capture. It is small and efficient.
  23. I don't think the google stockholders are interested in being a part of microsoft. Sure wish I had bought some google stock a while back.
  24. Try comparing the old memory with the new memory and see if the slots (at the bottom where it plugs) line up and are the same. Not all memory fits all computers. As an example, I recently got some cheap, but i needed 2 notches on the bottom, and only had one. If it kicks up, that could be the problem. Will the old memory fit the slot you are trying to use? What are the computer specs?
