  1. Interesting; it seems that the installer has somehow been repackaged. Maybe someone has an answer? Anyway, installing the November package will install the same CCleaner version 3.24.1850, and the installed executables have the same date 2012-10-25.
  2. Thanks, Nergal, for the correction. I didn't think MS would release two different IE10 version.
  3. Flash Player is embedded in IE10, and will be updated via WindowsUpdate.
  4. Just curious: why are you not using direct links to the download pages, instead of dubious redirects? I for one will never click on a link that I don't know where it takes me.
  5. Also C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\plugin.vch C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\plugin.vch Chris Campbell of the Adobe Flash Player team explains Source: http://forums.adobe....4830971#4830971
  6. Shockwave Flash is Adobe Flash Player. Shockwave Player is a different plugin (Shockwave for Director); very rarely used these days.
  7. Thank you for this; I didn't even notice that my avatar was missing. Time for a new one, anyway...
  8. I have used Windows since 3.0 (and other computers long before that). I have always kept Windows up to date (via ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/ in the 3.0 and 95 days), and none of my computers have ever been infected with malware. I don't know if that is because I always keep all my software up to date, or because I do not visit any stupid websites? Either way, there is a good reason why Microsoft and other software companies spend a lot of effort to regularly release security updates. There is no software that cannot be exploited somehow, and all computer users should keep all software updated. Your best friend in this matter: Secunia PSI.
  9. First-time run 3.24 appears very much faster than any previous version! Will try on a few other machines later today...
  10. BBcode is much easier to read than HTML
  11. Can you please clarify what "the record" is; what exactly was deleted that should not have? CCleaner does not usually delete things from non-system drives.
  12. We know But I believe that it can easily be disabled.
  13. Yes, that's the plan - Microsoft would be wholly responsible for the update process.
  14. Note that IE10 will come bundled with Flash Player, similar as Google Chrome. Which means you will always be stuck with a slightly old (but hopefully working) version.

That of course is anyone's choice...
  16. No, the default is a weekly scan. That would be 168 hours, +12 = 180 to give the user another 12 hours time for a scan.
  17. I have posted a bug report regarding this topic http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=36952

  19. After running CCleaner with MS AntiMalware checked, MSE will complain that the computer is insecure, and that a scan is required. This happens even if a scan has run shortly before CCleaner was run. Related discussions: http://forum.pirifor...showtopic=36877 http://forum.pirifor...showtopic=35577 I have done a bit of research and testing; the results are all in the first of the above topics. On Windows 7 (and likely Vista as well) the following folders get deleted: %PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Scans\History\Results\Quick %PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Scans\History\Results\Resource %PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Scans\History\Results\System On Windows XP the following folders get deleted: %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Scans\History\Results\Quick %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Scans\History\Results\Resource %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Scans\History\Results\System The folders Quick and System contain information about performed scans; Quick = quick scans, System = full scans. Resource contains information about all other MSE activities. For MSE to remember when the last scan was performed, the contents of the Quick and System folders are used. In order for MSE to know when the last scan was performed, the newest entry in either Quick or System must be retained. All data in the Resource folder can safely be deleted. I am sure that all MSE users will be very happy that they can safely check MS AntiMalware again, without MSE starting to complain shortly after every CCleaner run. Thank you for a great product, and thank you for listening to your users.

Or install the latest Adobe Reader XI from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.00/
  22. The above file paths are on Windows 7. On Windows XP, the paths are as follows C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Scans\History\Results\Quick C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Scans\History\Results\Resource C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Scans\History\Results\System Of course the access would probably be via %ALLUSERSPROFILE%, not an absolute path.
  23. I think I also know a little bit more after doing some more testing this afternoon. Welcome to the Piriform forums, bottom2topjk, b.t.w. There are three folders (that I know of) that get deleted by CCleaner, if MS Antimalware is checked: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Scans\History\Results\Quick C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Scans\History\Results\Resource C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Scans\History\Results\System I think now that the only ones that matter are the Quick and System folders, I think the Resource folder does not matter. In the Quick folder, results from quick scans are stored. 1 file per scan. In the System folder, the results from full scans are stored. 1 file per scan. In the Resource folder, any other MSE activities are stored. I think that we can safely delete all data in the Resource folder. However, we must keep the last scan in either the Quick or System folder. I will do some further testing for another week, then report back the final results.
  24. It is not a single log file; MSE creates a new file (without an extension) every hour or so in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Scans\History\Results\Resource I have been deleting these (without the newest one) every day now, but the results are not conclusive yet. I still see the orange MSE icon sometimes.
  25. I will do some testing over the next few days; erasing the MSE files manually, but let the latest one stand. See if this will correct MSE's behaviour of complaining that no scan had been run lately.
