I completely uninstalled Defraggler V1.20 and then reinstalled it with a fresh copy. I see a small improvement in the drive map but still many gaps. And this is after Defrag free space.
My OS is Win XP pro with SP3.

Richard, as you can see from image2.jpg I ran defrag free space and the "Gaps" are still there.
So my origional question is still open.

After i reenabled system restore and created a restore point i was able to view it in CC.
But all old restore points will be gone.

Is the graphic interactive drive map a real representation of the data on the disk?
I ask because I have run a defrag and compress program called DIRMS and after the DIRMS compress
compleats and I again run Defraggler, there is no difference at all in the drive map. It still shows a lot of space between files.
The attached image is after DIRMS compress compleated.

I turned off restore points and restarted and now ccleaner is listing restore points again.

I just updated CCleaner to version 2.32.1165 and Restore Points are not being listed.

I think the other fellow that thinks CCleaner is deleting the entries has the same problem, as i do.

Alan, I tried the portable version, just now, The wait timer runs for a few seconds and then stops and nothing is listed.

I moved to a new subject because i felt this problem was different than the other topic, And no one was responding to the other topic.
How can windows be messed up when Windows System Restore has NO problem showing restore points?

Don't know when this problem started
CC is now at 2.31.1151 and i have tried going back to 2.29.111 and CC does not list restore points using either version.
1. I have a 74gb drive with 56b free space.
2. My SRP disk space is set to max 12% (9087 MB).
3. System Restore program shows restore points going back to April 7th.
4. PC operating system is VP Professional SP3
I have removed restore points maybe a month ago using an earlier version of CC. So something has to be wrong with how CC is getting the restore point references now.

I just went back to version 2.29.1111 but System Restore points are still not being listed.
I went back to that version because i had a friend that was still at that version try to list restore points and it did list them on her PC.

I notice that CCleaner is just not listing restore points. Because if i go to System Restore in System tools there are restore points available.
So i think the bug is that CCleaner is not listing Restore Points.
CCleaner installed version is 2.31.1151

The original poster asked for advice on why defraggler fails to run on a neighbours pc. All specs and info were posted.
This is not a thread about sp3, possible infections that can be caught, or the competence of the poster with computers.

Well, if i would be your neighbour, i would tell you to install SP3.
I find it hilarious that you quote that you have been a IT guy since 1969. What kind of windows did you run at that time? ... So does it make a difference? No. In my personal experience older IT guys have more problems with newer systems. The old and mostly obsolete knowledge doesn't really help.
I am fixing computers since Windows 95 and i am currently supervising over 70 PCs, mostly with Windows XP. I never had any problems with SP3. Only on one stupid notebook it won't install, but that machine is pretty messed up anyway. And it also makes no sense that you installed SP2 and all the updates before and now simply refuse to trust in Microsoft and SP3 because of some unfounded reasons. Of course, there are people with problems related to SP3, but put it into perspective with the huge number of Windows installations worldwide. And no one reports to a newsgroup that the successfully installed SP3...
Yes, maybe it won't fix your problem, but it won't hurt either, and would only improve the security of the system.
And if you are unsure, make an image or a copy of the hard drive. Should be easy for you.
I didn't say i was IT. I was a computer repair specialist. And in 1969 there were no PCs but the first PC OS was MSDos. And if you were like my neighbor you would be a computer illiterate and wouldn't tell me to install SP3 as they have no idea what goes on with PCs.

I see you have a similar background to me but you seem to have a problem with quoting text.
I started in '67 and retired in '98 and I was in Technical Support on Large Systems and Telecommunications and used to read ASCII and BSC line traces like a book.
I worked with the first PCs that had 2 5.25in floppies all the way up to the then latest PS/2 models with OS/2 with its Communication Manager.
Why would the CCleaner development team want to work on a problem that is probably fixed in SP3 for one user with a problem when there are millions of other happy users without a problem?
Because it would be nice to help, Just like I try to help my neighbor. And its possible that some one else may have the same problem.

The Microsoft.public.windowupdate newsgroup is comprised of a few Microsoft haters, computer n00bs that would have difficulty with an electronic calculator and the few of the 90+ million Windows users that have a problem following directions plus the people that are angry that Microsoft wont permit updates for their pirated Windows.

Been working with computers since The first IBM PC came out. Worked for IBM from 1969 to 1988 when I retired as a Tech Support Specialists on many of IBM Small Office computers upto the System 38.

That remark was an example, it was not directed specifically at you. However, given that you are not updating your Operating System (Which is a rather integral part of securing your machine), it was meant as a warning. I am glad that you have invested in an Anti-Virus program, however that is not enough. Windows XP Sp3 was largely a security release. I have SP3 installed on 7 machines and have experienced NO problems. Not to say that someone, somewhere hasn't had a problem, but I have not heard of many people having a problem with the Service Pack itself. Most problems were either virus related, or user caused. Given the severity of the damage that can be caused by many of the virus' out there now, there's just no excuse for avoiding a security update that is now almost a year old...
Reading the Microsoft.public.windowupdate newsgroup is my excuse. I have always installed all the updates issued by MS but not going to install sp3 no matter how many lashes you lay on me M_Lyons. LOL

I didn't say I dont believe in av or as I have them both installed on my PC and also a firewall. What I said was that with all i heard about the problems caused by sp3 i am reluctant to install it.
Agreed YoKenny. I don't understand people that avoid security and vulnerability updates... With all of the malicious code out there and the ease of accidentally downloading something (Especially with MySpace and other social networking sites), it makes absolutely NO SENSE to not install updates when they come out. I don't know how to drive this home better. There are still people that don't believe in Anti-Virus / Anti-Spyware programs... -
I know that doing a System restore would likely resolve the problem. And that would be my next step. But we are not prepared to do that as they are not fully backed up. It's my neighbors pc. So I and they were hoping there was something i was missing in my attempt to resolve the problem with out having to format and restore.
This is one of those OEM pc without the Windows XP discs so we can't just repair the OS.
With all the horror stories I have been reading about the SP3 update i am not ready to update even my PC to it.
I have also tried doing a system restore, but, You guessed it there are no restore points.

Does the restore point you created show up in System Restore?
If Not then you have a problem with System restore.
If it does then you have a problem with CC.
