"I converted from the .exe to the portable version about half a dozen versions ago and can not repeat your problem." And was that with the very latest version and on WinXP SP3??

I have NEVER EVER experienced or even heard of Defraggler remaining open when it has been closed, Other possibilities might be that it was automatically resurrected by Windows Tasks, perhaps via Defraggler Options/Schedule, or that what you actually downloaded was infested with malware that identified itself as Defraggler but could resist all efforts to close. I have never known a Piriform process to resist a Task Manager "End Process" action. Yes.. Not a chance!! FROM PIRIFORM!....Only DL from program authors!! I finally got this resolved with MUCH hair pulling...Un-installed the portable,deleted reg. remnants..DL another portable version and installed...SAME thing...after closing still running in Task Mgr....wouldn,t end process....tried to start the .exe again..got pop-up stating program was running... Deleted EVERYTHING Defraggler again,and DL installer version.....This time all is well with the program.....SO IMHO there is some BUG in this portable version....And NO, nothing was involved with Task scheduler....

No answer or help on this subject???...Seems like I am going to have to drop this product,as the problem I am having with it is extremely annoying and not worth my time on fighting with it to exit properly...

I just recently installed the latest version of your defraggler program upon a recommendation from a friend of mine..(2.17.0.898,Zip version) I am running XP SP3 OS It installed fine and it showed after Analyze that my C disk was not in need of a defrag yet,so shut it down....Approx 1/2 hour later I had cause to open my task mgr...and defraggler was showing it was still open!!!! I tried to kill it using Task mgr....then Process Explorer...also Process Hacker....ALL to no AVAIL.... I then re-booted,and then of course it was gone..... WHY is this program not exiting when it is closed!!!!...Do not have any problems with all my other programs I have... I suppose I could use PsKill on it,BUT this seems to be an unnecessary step,when it should close normally after closing the program... Thank you
