If you guys feel like you are at risk on 64-bit versions, then you can go ahead and download the 5.34 version too. That version also is for 64-bit, not just for 32-bit.
If you guys feel like you are at risk, then you should scan with a anti-virus. Try Avast, Malwarebytes, and Adwcleaner and see if anything comes out.
Lastly, why would Avast try to trash one of their own products, then make a post about it? If they were really going to go to that lengths, I am sure they would have done it way more stealthy.

I am surprised no one mentioned this here, but in case you didn't notice it already, Malwarebytes 3.2 beta testing started 2 weeks ago (from date of this post). I do highly recommend anyone who uses Malwarebytes to download and test for them as they could really use the feedback.

We should probably be careful now of recommending anti-virus/anti-malware stuff to users. Now that Avast owns Piriform, they might not like it that you are recommending competitors.
So to be on the safe side, Avast is a very nice anti-virus and I recommend using that, haha.

They aren't dropping 32-bit support. They are just going to use a universal installer so 64-bit users get 64-bit version and 32-bit still have 32-bit. It's not a big deal anymore since XP and Vista is dropped and only like 5% of Windows 7 users is 32-bit. Plus dropping 32-bit build, when they do, would save some development time slightly not having to deal with 32-bit and 64-bit.
32-bit can get 4gb ram and 64-bit can reach 3 exabytes of ram, but I don't think ram is the reason why they are switching. Having around 10 tabs open only consumed 2-3gb ram, so it's still enough for 32-bit users.
By the way, is there/has there been any news if Mozilla will extend the 52ESR branch? I thought I heard at one point that it was going to be discussed?

For the record, EMET is still being updated as a stand alone product for Windows Vista - 8.1 users. I believe the EOL date is July 2018. Mostly will just be fixing bugs, false positives and conflicts. Still, was nice of them to extend it.

Thing is, Windoze Defender is junk. It hardly detects anything. I know after using it for a year and having to switch over to Bitdefender.
So far, M$ isn't blocking 3rd party AVs from installing, but like with the Kaspersky example, I hope they get sued and let the courts have the final say.
Well in Win 7, 8 and pre-Redstone 3 updated win 10 systems, I would agree with this, but have you seen the changes Microsoft wants to do with Windows Defender in Redstone 3 for Win 10, which is probably coming out in September or October this year. They are finally combining EMET with Windows Defender, finally adding a machine learning behavioral blocker and it will be linked through a cloud so if one user gets infected, everyone will get a automatic signature right away to stop it from spreading to other systems. It's still early to determine if this will actually improve Windows Defender, but a lot of this is what Malwarebytes did with 3.x, so only time will tell.
I don't know if they will trash Recuva. A recovery tool still comes in handy at times. They might combine it with CCleaner, though, as that would be a good decision.

Avast aquired AVG not that long ago and I can't imagine they have it all paid off already, so I assume they probably got a good deal on acquiring Piriform. I think we will defiantly say goodbye to Defraggler and Speccy, as since Windows 7, there are tools built into Windows for these types of things. They were useful during XP/Vista times, but they have long since abandon those systems now. I mean they were only updated once every 6 months to a year anyways. CCleaner might have been more of what Avast wanted, as I assume a lot of AVs are going to be struggling soon with some of the changes Microsoft is doing to Windows Defender in Windows 10 and it's only going to get worse for third party AV companies as time goes by any more people switch to windows 10 and beyond.
As for the future of CCleaner and Winapp2 is beyond me. I really hope they keep Winapp2 open-source and managed by community like it is now, but only time will tell on this. I assume CCleaner will eventually be merged into Avast as part of their system cleaner in time.

Interesting. I wonder what a anti-virus company wants with a few system optimizers.
I wonder how this will effect Winapp2, as well. We were in the middle of deciding if Winapp2 should be licensed and who it should be copyrighted under, but they never got back to us.
