  1. Is that video slow for everyone or what? It seems like it's in slow motion to me.
  2. I don't either and I won't install if just for that.
  3. With FAT32 you are limited to 4 gig for files and 32 gig for partitions. NTFS is also faster. Your data will be wiped. It took me seconds to format my Western Digital External HD to NTFS and it's 250 gig. Here is the procedure. http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/ph...amp;p_topview=1
  4. I converted my external HD to NTFS from FAT32. I did that because I use it to store images of my HD and they are GIG's in size and too big for FAT32 to handle in one piece which is how I want them stored. The only reason I can think of to keep it FAT32 is if you want to use the external HD on both Windows and Mac machines. FAT 32 can be used on both NTFS can not.
  5. That was the point I was trying to make in my original post
  6. I agree and I'm not knocking you for providing the info. The more you know the better. Some people think they need to have 20 layers of security to keep from getting infected and in my experience you don't. On the flip side of that people who have all those layers think they are invincible and can do what ever they want and that's simply not true.
  7. I really can't put in words how much the Chinese government's actions at the Olympics disgusts me. Their BS started during the torch run but this episode with the little girl singing the anthem at the opening ceremony takes the rice cake as far as I am concerned. Every Chinese person I have had the pleasure of meeting has been great. They are friendly, genuine, non offensive and I don't regret meeting a single one of them. They are in general very nice people. Surprising considering the garbage they have as government. Please Chinese citizens do yourselves and the world a favour and carry out the long over due extermination of your government. As far as I am concerned the world sold out the citizens of China. Awarding the Olympics to China was a mistake and supporting the games was a bigger mistake. It is legitimizing a government that needs to be destroyed. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...//TPStory/Front
  8. I don't use a Hosts File. I don't use a resident antispyware scanner. I don't use security tool bars such as Site Advisor. I don't use PAC Files. I don't use IP Block Lists. I don't immunize with programs like Spyware Blaster or Spy Bot S&D's immunize feature. I do run an AV real time and use Sandboxie when going to unfamiliar sites. I have never had an infection on any of my current machines the oldest of which is now 4 years old. In fact my AV resident scanners have NEVER alerted me to anything. None of the AV or Antispyware scanners (and I have many) have detected a single thing other than the odd tracking cookie and odd false positive. I am on line probably 8 hours a day if not more. How do you explain this? Simple common sense when using a computer. Without that none of those protection apps will do $hit for you. I know people that totally screw their machines at least monthly. They have many of those apps installed and still they are not protected because there is no adequate protection for stupidity. I wouldn't do it but I could probably shut off my AV resident shield and still not get infected. It hasn't alert me to a single thing on any of my machines since installed.

    ADD on for IE

How do you go about trouble shooting a host file if it is blocking something it shouldn't be or you don't want it to be blocking? With ad blockers it's easy to do.

Than you already knew IE7 Pro had mouse gestures? It sounded like you didn't know.
  11. I use Speed Dial or it's equivalent for a home page on all my browsers .

    ADD on for IE

It does but not as many as Opera. Don't you have IE7 Pro installed? Fire Gestures for FireFox is excellent to. All my browsers have some form of mouse gestures I wouldn't use one that doesn't now.
  13. Thats been around a long time Heres a site with 2460 more Opera buttons http://homepage.hispeed.ch/ttt-o/

IE7 Pro will give you Ad Blocking, Mouse Gesture, Drag and Drop, Flash Blocking, User Java Script, Speed Dial like Opera (called easy home page in IE7 Pro) and lots more. Go to the link provided for IE7 Pro and it lists all the features and an explanation for each. I consider it training wheels for Firefox and Opera. I recommended it to the people I know that use IE7 and it gives them some experience with advanced browser functions without having to switch browsers.
  15. I gave Free Commander another try and it is greatly improved since the last time I tried it. I like it a lot and will will start using it instead of Explorer2. Great program. One very stupid design flaw I found though. This is a dual pane and tabbed interface program. The developer has a pile of buttons that you can put on the tool bar to access commonly used functions instead of using the Main Menu. There is a button for almost everything but a new tab You have to go into the Main Menu to do this. Yet there are buttons for almost everything else. Makes no sense to me. Making a new tab is a very common thing with this type of program. I do it constantly in Explorer2.

This will do it for you and much more. http://www.ie7pro.com/
  17. This can be used as a portable app. No need to install. Extract it to a folder and launch it. It's not meant to replace Windows Explorer you use it instead of Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer will still be there and installing uninstalling this won't mess with Windows Explorer.
  18. FF2 opens about as quick sandboxed as it does un sandboxed for me and I haven't tweaked anything for it.
  19. I think all the Windows Explorer replacments are much better than Windows Explorer. I use Explorer2 everyday and would be lost without dual panes.
  20. First time I have herad of that happening. I removed all icons/shortcuts from the desktop including the recycle bin. Also shut off the Quick Launch Bar and use Rocket Dock instead. I set it to autohide so it's not visible until I move the cursor to the bottom of the screen. I set the Windows Task Bar to auto hide as well.
  21. That's a nice one but I like Explorer2 even more. Does everything that does and more and has a portable version to.
  22. Better yet Opera and FireFox. Definitely dump IE6 though.
  23. Dennis you may have Javascript enabled globally but have it disabled on a per site basis. Check site preferences for IGoolge and make sure java script is enabled. Just right click on the page in iGoogle and site preferences is a menu item. Select it and go to the scripting tab and see if java script is enabled. Site preferences override the global preferences.
  24. I'm not a fan of the new default theme either but there are about 1000 themes to choose from any ways so it's not a problem. The speed difference between 9.27 and 9.5 is very noticeable even on cable here. The ad blocker is much improved and the speed dial is now able to have more than 9 thumbnails. One thing that needs to be improved is that you can't add exceptions to the ad blocker. You either have to toggle the blocker off globally or use site preferences and do it on per site basis. You couldn't even do that in 9.27 so it's an improvement but needs more.
