  1. thanks, and will ccleaner delete those files properly
  2. I heard that when I go on a website all the pictures on that specific page are downloaded on to my computer,if this is true do the pictures get saved in temporary internet files or somewhere else and can ccleaner delete those pictures
  3. what would you define as a modern hard disk drive
  4. Ok thanks, but how many times do you think I should overwrite it to make the data irretreivable, and once I do overwrite the data is it impossible for anyone to view what websites I have gone on(I heard windows keeps a hidden list of all websites the computer has gone on,is that true)
  5. When a piece of software says that it can work on linux can it work on all versions of linux or can it only work on a specific version of linux.
  6. You see,I cleared my browsing history in chrome by going on the google chrome history page, clicking "clear all browsing data" and checked everything except "deauthorize content licenses",but I know the history still isnt completly gone(i can probably recover it with recuva),so should I also wipe free space to make sure its completly gone.
  7. then how can I remove it.Should I uninstall chrome and all the data associated with it and then wipe the free space,or should I just use another piece of software.
  8. Office does have some functions that LO and other word processing software doesent have. Who knows,it might be good
  9. Does windows store a lst of all the typed URL's you entered and if so where do they keep it.I use google chrome with Windows 7 SP1.Also would CCleaner be able to delete them

  11. thanks, alse did you find the Usrclass.dat file I was talking about
  12. what do you mean by configuration info. What would it include.Google has not been much help to me lately.
  13. I have another question.I found a .DAT file in C:/Users/[user]/Appdata/local/microsoft/Windows entititled "UsrClass.dat".It hasnt changed in size since I last ran ccleaner and I'm a little worried that its contents can be recovered.I cant view its contents with a index.dat cleaner nor can I delete it using standard windows deletion methods(it says it cant be deleted because the file is open in system) Can you tell me whether the contents of the file are deleted or gibberish. Also I'm running windows 7
  14. Will I need a special program to read them after I restore them or can I use google chrome to read them
  15. I thought Google chrome stored hidden browsing history files just like IE did and I couldn't delete it because it was a locked system file, I called them index.dat files because I didnt know what Google chrome called them. Anyway I heard that windows stores a hidden database of all the webpages you've ever visited and this cant be deleted normally because its a locked system file and runs all the time. Some websites said ccleaner erases the contents of the hidden file on reboot while others said it does not delete the contents of all the browsing history files on the computer.
  16. sorry Im 4 years late but does ccleaner completly remove all contents of the index.dat file including the hidden ones after I restart my computer.Im confused because some people say it does and some people say it doesnt
  17. Can you tell me what is not removed and what tools I can use to remove it
  18. Thank you very much.I was also wondering whether there is anything I can do to speed up the process such as not use the computer during the wipe. Also i have a somewhat unrelated question does ccleaner completly remove all traces of index.dat files and temporary internet files because I read on some forums including this one that it leaves behind some hidden index.dat files. .I use google chrome and I wanted to make my browsing history completly irretrievable by anyone
  19. Hello,I mostly use google chrome to surf the internet and I was looking to completly remove all traces of my browsing history to make it completly irrecovrable by anyone. I was wondering if ccleaner can do this because I read on some online forums that it does not delete all the hidden index.dat files and other temporary internet files and leaves some of the files behind and this worries me.May you please reply quickly this is very important
  20. Hello,I recently started using ccleaner and I am still confused about a feature.I want to wipe the free space on my drive but I am confused. Will it delete the large file afterwards or will I have to do it myself(can you include the location of the file please).Secondly will this slow down my computer or break my drive and lastly how long will it take.I have a Windows 7 pc w/ 2.00 gb of RAM.
