  1. Yeah...I'm probably new to forums....thought I might ask around here for help because it all started off with me accidentally wiping my HDD by just re-formatting it....then it gradually became....more friendly this place. So I thought I might ask more... Does my answers to all those clear some confusion you all had?
  2. If you really want to know how old I am, I'm 18...maybe a bit over but not 19 yet. I'll be 19 in October Does the age factor make any difference to this discussion? ..well....of course that was what I was thinking....I haven't got a job yet....so from when I was born to now, I have not even got employed yet....but now that everyone else I know have one, I thought I might as well get one too - besides that could pay off my dream gaming PC...and stop bugging mum /dad to get it for me which of course will be a no anyways....who's gonna pay 4 or so grand for my gaming PC? No one except me of course but I don't have that kind of money yet. It looked quite simple...but when when I first heard the process, it now sounds a bit more complicated then just walk in and grab your position and that's it. That's what first thought it was to get a job/career: Step one search up your job, step two go to where you want to work and just sign in and you got a job. As simple as two steps to getting a job or career as I had thought....I guess I'm wrong... Well....I did talk to the staff counter over there, before I even started this topic...he said I didn't really need any qualifications to get a job at this shop be he did mentioned that if I had any retailing experience or playing around with computers will help. Since I've played around with computers a lot when I'm not gaming, I thought I might be able to get this....or not. but we'll see. I haven't done any retailing so...talking to customers would probably be a bad idea...I'd be best out the back doing the computer hands on practical help or something. I thought by starting off at a computer shop might enhance my experience with using and maintaining computers at the same time. Grocery stores and the like, well I admit yes you get pad and get experience through that, but not really my preferred way of getting my first job.... Oh good. Yeah...sorry for that if that helps. I admit I got carried away but I had so many questions to ask.... and I thought people here would be inclined to answer.... Well...technically speaking, probably no...coz it's only my first anyway....and I don't have any qualifications yet, heck I just only started uni this year!! Straight from high school last year. I didn't know whether to get a gap year or straight to uni. If I had a gap year - I'd most likely be on my computer playing games, if not, I'd be at uni doing work and study instead. I chose to go to uni, coz a gap year would waste a year playing games...which I guess could help if I have not finish any games yet...I also sometimes make guides and edit already made guides to games...so that's my reason.
  3. Oh. Okay...would it make everyone feel better if I said I didn't say that even though I did, but I take it back? (at least have DennisD back to continue helping or anyone else who might...) I feel guilty now for saying that....
  4. huh? did I say something rude or bad? I don't get it....
  5. yeah with the DRM crap on your game CDs especially the ones where it asks you to insert the original disc to play or install, you'd won't be able to make it work like the original.... Well, there ain't a way to pass the DRM on game CDs if you want to back them up into ISO format.
  6. Oh - so they make the time and I either I have to accept it or not, right? ....which includes full-time work too? I thought you could choose when...
  7. So, it's all good if I just walked up to the shop, flash out my CV to one of the shop clerk which is usually one behind the counter and say: Me: "Hey...uhhhh....I got my CV with me, care to call out your store manager or your boss?" Staff: "sure." Boss: "Hello there, I see another prospective liking my shop." [staff just stands there waiting for another customer to walk in] Me: "Yeah...." Boss: "Well, got your CV with ya?" Me: "Yeah, I do." [hands the CV to the boss] Boss: "Hmmm....alright, go home and I'll give you a ring sometime for an interview." Me: "Okay...." [i slowly walk backwards towards the exit] Boss: "Cheers - have a nice day." Me: "Yeah, you too" [Walks out in a happy mood, hoping the boss will call for that interview...] Do you think above is how it's gonna play out? Or is there more to this? That's just only a simuation of what I think will happen when the next I walk in with my CV in my hand.... Okay, how's my CV this time: ooo...font's different this time.... will it look like this version when it's printed out or the other? Alan_B Yeah, of course I will be doing part time! for now till June....but after that, I wouldn't mind working the entire 5 day week (Monday to Friday) waking up at maybe 9 or 10am and come home at about 5PM or something....Thus leaving me free time during the non-working hours and the Saturday and Sunday too. Of course this will eventually go back to part time(if they allow it) because I will be back at uni next year....full year this time for three or so years.... Probably won't have time for work then.... Hopefully by that time, I'd earn enough money to build my dream gaming PC.... If not...I'll continue until I do....hopefully not after the end of 2014.... Do I really need covering letter too?
  8. Yeah that happens....I guess I'll have to not worry about it for now.
  9. I see. So once that's all used up, I cannot upload anymore files from this forum and must use an external file up loader to upload like photobucket? ...could at least make our uploads unlimited - would be much easier and quicker too so I don't have to go to photobucket to grab the direct link just to show you a picture or two...
  10. Just a question - if I try to upload something and I've already gone past my upload quota, I can't upload anymore files even for new posts/topics?
  11. Well, Super Fast, you're looking forward into the future! Maybe even better - if you could do those things yourself!! ...speeds up the availability! I actually like the idea of yours; virtual gaming...I'd love to own my own.. yeah. But I'd probably be in my 60s or after I die before any of that will happen... and I'll probably be too old for games then... I don't believe there's GDDR or GDDR 2, it only starts at GDDR 3 and up...unless I'm mistaken...I've never seen a graphics card that gives off GDDR 1 or GDDR 2 memory before... Only DDR or DDR2 or even SDRAM as far as I know. And those password protection security might actually work...but if there's a keylogger(that was silently installed on your system) - then no, it won't last long though....but if you're computer don't have keyloggers, then great - it will work 100%!
  12. Oh, I almost forgot: - Is the CV really all I need to hand in directly to the staff or do I need to hand in something else as well? - Do I need also inform that I'm currently studying at uni in my CV or not, or do I give that info out when during the interview if they ask pr not if they don't? Thanks
  13. Right..... Thankyou, sir! . Is it because of the borders I put? something else or just how it's layout? Yeah, had a uni class mate who tried to get a job at some pet store...hasn't got a call yet even though he handed his resume directly to the store manager and he also had a friend that would always remind her to call him which she hasn't yet...that's the kind of feeling I have right now if after I hand in my CV(once I finish it with all the details) directly to the store manager or staff who will and then wait for a call for an interview to realize they either forgotten or didn't like my CV... Okay. do they make the interview time (if I get to that stage) or am I allowed to define an appropriate interview time? Could mean the difference between me being very tired/sleepy and me being very active/energetic. Okay, gotta be formal, no immature act... or at least act like some kid... Hahaha... I sure will. Wait - there's more than one person doing the interview? I thought I was (if I get here) to only interview one guy and that's it...
  14. That's alright, at least you tried and that's what makes me happy here at Piriform's official forum. (probably why I like official forums... ) Yeah, I also meant some windows games and programs too. It's best to just let it run on what it was officially supported on. I don't have any hardware that only works on older OSs...I just only got programs and games.... Well, I didn't mean it was that much worthless, but personally from the descriptions as it was stated, it didn't say that it will work for anything. But then again it doesn't say it won't work for anything so that just leaves me saying - I take back what I said. However, of course from personal experience with this, I can say that it probably won't work for some programs and will sometimes work for others. Yeah, I also would have said it's impossible...maybe some programs/games run on this, but others don't and are missing some core files from windows 2000 and newer OSs that makes the program/game run...No emulator is perfect in it's area of intentions.... Yep, and that's why you don't throw away your old computer! I guess I would've stopped my mum throwing out my windows 95 computer but it was too late... But I guess, because of my ignorance of computers, and was my first time ever too, I screwed it up - hardware side...I guess it was right for mum to throw it out; it didn't even work anymore....But I could've used the case for another computer!
  15. oooops, yeah - sorry about that, Hazelnut. I guess that's probably why they deleted it on that forum. Now my reply on that forum makes no sense now... and I can't delete it or edit it to something else either... I guess I'll just leave it there... I was only pointing out what was said in the reply, that's all - just to let everyone know how my question's going in that forum.
  16. I'm sure the moderator(s)/Admin(s) will delete you post ahahaha! But since you asked(and I'm nice enough to reply to this "off topic" reply of yours ), and before the moderator(s)/Admin(s) decide to take action before you see this; the answer's simple - Because I still got old ass, and I mean olllldd ass computers that cannot run on newer OS without error/performance hit. That and the fact that I prefer to play old games and run old applications on old OSs, because some of them won't run on newer OSs or will run but with errors and some other crap. I also grew up with a windows 95 computer, believe it or not! And since then I grew quite attached to old OSs... Besides...old computers can do just almost the things I would do on my laptop: type up word docs, play games go on the internet etc. They are backup in case my other computers crapped out on me or I can't be bother booting them and using my good old Windows 98 SE computer. And top of that, yes - I do know of the compatibility tab on 2000 and newer OSs, but they always don't work...they might start good, but eventually end up as without using compatibility settings. So it's better off to start programs/games on what OS(s) they were officially supported on. Haha, you might be lucky to run something on Windows ME, even though it doesn't say on the box or readme file that it supports ME...But that's just luck - gotta try it some time. And one more thing, I don't know if this is true or not, but if it is, then there's no OS emulator that works 100% without error of some kind. Thus, I've experienced KernelEx, which is one example why, they are useless and I don't even bother to search them and/or try downloading them.
  17. ...yeah, that's if I idiotically decide to drop it on some cat... ...that's if we survive doomsday(if that's even real)... ...mmmm, don't think my opinions of having a custom built, by me, top of the line gaming PC would change... I've never had a top of the line gaming PC before nor have I've seen one, yet(the per-built ones at shops I've seen are not even close, let alone to my preferences - despite their prices...)...so, now I want to build my own...so I can feel it. The epic power, unleashed by XP F.E! That's motivation....and maybe be the first, unless someone else beaten me to it, the top-of-the-line gaming PC 2012/2013 running on a dual boot of Windows XP Professional x86 Edition and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition!
  18. ...I feel....now worthless....if there are others' doing the same thing and probably doing this with the help of their own degree....or better abilities.... Okay, I'll learn next time, from my mistakes, if I make any...or know what I did wrong, otherwise, I'd be more prone to do it again... ...oooo.... better not let them break my fingers, that'll hurt! Maybe two can play at that game! Hehehe...or am I not allowed to do that? Okay...applications...hmm....I'll improvise...hehehe...or try to remember... ...hm, I'll try to get my Learning Advisor in this, hehehe... She might help me out with this kind of thing...hopefully... eeeeep. So what am I suppose to do if I feel that this guy's trying to break my fingers? Do I squeeze back even harder? Make a handshake squeeze war? heheh, probably not inappropriate but still...actually best not to do that at all, I have minimal squeezing power in my hand....so I would probably lose the war...
  19. Is this good enough, I made this myself - by the way, I also included some of my interests, hobbies abilities etc. in it. : How is this? Is this any good? What else do I need to do? Hmmm, I that's actually a hard question to answer....if this guy owns a computer shop, surely he'd know everything about computers making me feel like it's probably best not to even bother with my luck... Hehehe....so, I'll just let it be if he/she which in this case is a he offers first. ...
  20. Hm, looks like BartPE is just making a live bootable CD/DVD windows disc....might help, but I want to do this natively under windows ME or 98se... Tried both, dfgui.exe and defrag.exe from windows 7, my XP didn't have dfgui.exe only found defrag.exe though - still didn't work...The XP one showed the same error, the windows 7 one showed, something different:( , upload failed....but got another way I can't do VISTA's as I don't have VISTA OS computer at home... Also, KernelEx doesn't show up on the file properties... :wacko:Where is it??Where's the tab??? Well, this is the result, regardless what OS I'm emulating to run the installer, both from exe and another from extracted version: No progress yet on my question asked on Source Forge's forums, but some spammer... which is now deleted...
  21. The extreme build guide is pretty good I must say...for $4000.... - and that's without those nice visuals....But yes, it's a bit outdatedd...maybe one for 2013 sometime coz that'll mostly likely be when I'll build my dream gaming rig...but I guess I could do it sometime towards the end of the year...if I get that kind of money... What else do you think is missing or what should be altered in that guide? Hmmm, didn't know you needed a dedicated sound card to your extreme gaming rig....I thought onboard sound was good enough...they already support EAX 5 or/and some other audio capabilities...But if you do, maybe onboard sound is "crap", I'd want one that has a digital optic outlet as I might hook the audio to a my home theater surround sound system, maybe 5.1 or 7.1....Make it the best audio gaming experience ever for me!
  22. Because you said they're not easily broken! Hahahahahah!! Hm, I'll believe that statement when I get mine! Okay. Why wouldn't you recommend SLI? It doubles game's fps in SLI, should triple fps in Tri mode and quadrible that(not from Tri mode but in normal mode) in Quad-SLI. ... Oh boy....
  23. Yeah, I know what it stands for. But I don't believe they don't make much noise until I get one....
  24. Hm...never seen an SSD before....I know some things good about it, but haven't seen one though....how small are they? are they like 2 and half inch? same as standard 3.5 insh HDDs? How quite are they? Are they "really" that quite that you can't even hear the, working, even if you're pushing it? So if I got an SSD, I can just drop it from a height of about 1 metres and it won't break? Power consumption is good, less than that of a HDD... Are there any negatives to SSDs? Besides what Super Fast said, if that's even true....? Yeah...something along those lines, if I can't get my preferred parts....Ivy Bridge is newer than Sandy right? and better too? I might SLI or Tri-SLI or even Quad-SLI my graphics cards if I can....if the motherboard I pick supports it, of course...You don't recommend any CRT monitors? I see... I know, I know they're out dated and no shops sells them anymore....but thought I could use an existing one at home...just need to find a 19 inch or bigger CRT monitor....I like 5:4 aspect ratio, or maybe 4:5....so I'm a square man. Wide-screen, are for watching movies....Oh great - there's more to it to LCD monitors!? Wow....IPS and TN....hmm.....there's actually another - VA....wow....so much research just to get your parts....
