  1. So I was sitting here and thinking, Where/how do you guys block ads ? Lets lists the options 1) Using a Brower addon (Adblock plus, Adblock, uBlock enc) including subscription 2) Using the host file 3) Using the router (if so what router do you have) 4) Using a 3rd party DNS servers (OpenDNS, Norton ConnectSafe enc) 5) Using DNS tools like (Pi-hole, pfsense), in a way the same as option 4 6) Combination of listed I use a combination of Brower addon with subscription and the Host file. Thinking of moving all to the Router itself so doing no need for me to update the Host file every now and then and having the benefit of blocking network/device wide and not just per PC/Laptop. Note: This is an advice only thread, Please do not post links to the host file, browser subscriptions or tools here. Think that was covers a couple of times in the past.
  2. Just a question @Mechanickrick How do you know it's a registry issue ? When I looked into this error I get only "There isn't enough memory available to create a ramdisk device" posts.....
  3. Do not get me wrong Winapp2ool has the potential to be a great tool. But (like in all cases there is a but) let the developer get a sold base line of functions out before asking a lot of functions from the get go. Some functions within the tool as of now is "nice to have" in my opinion. Could have left it for later versions of the application. Allso does not help the developer is rushing things and have to release a new "bug free" version every couple of hours due to something that broke while adding new function. Baby steps.....

    CC Cleaner

You are trying to run CCleaner from the icon/shortcut on your desktop Navigate to the installed directory, double click on CCleaner.exe (CCleaner64.exe if x64 OS) If UAC shows up click on YES. If this works then your icon/shortcut on your desktop is corrupted.
  5. Here is my 2 cents about this pointless discussion (just my opinion). How long has winapp2 been out in the wild ? How many users are using it ? I am no smart man but I am 100% sure a lot of people/developers using winapp2 or a spinoff of it would have complained IF an entry using REMOVESELF "break" their software. I for one, am not fond of seeing empty folders on my systems. Using REMOVESELF makes my life a bit more ordered. Besides, who runs CCleaner anyway with software running (Excluding AVs and active malware software) ?
  6. Hi Guys and Girls. With all this in Browser mining this dude is fighting an uphill battle. Atleast he is trying. Host file There is also an Adblock subscription for this one. Another subscription from Adblock in host file format MalwareDomainList
  7. No there is not . I second this. Yes, I know I posted entries to nuke non-English language files and I am sure that some people out there did not read the warnings and their native language was nuked and did not know what to do.
  8. Well find it strange that it did as some people do know that Section=Language Files (Custom Section) should never be added to the public Winapp2.ini.....
  9. Never said it should be included in the Winapp2.ini That why I added the following in the original post "NOTE: This is not an every day use and should be used at own risk." "Warning=This will delete all language files excluding the en_GB and en_US language files."
  10. The problem with most Antivirus software and Malware software is IF they do not know about it then how can they protect you ? ESET detected the issue link
  11. Interesting will look into that Detect. Thanks Andavari. EDIT: Weird, after a clean, clean install of v3.2.2.2029 it does create that detect now. (Windows7 x64) Will use that from now on.
  12. Hey there Hazel, Have not been on so long lost what was posted and what not My bad. Wonder how some AVs after this time still not get hits on this file.
  13. Hey guys/girls. Just something I use. NOTE: This is not an every day use and should be used at own risk. [Malwarebytes (Lng)*] Section=Language Files Detect=HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MBAMService Default=False Warning=This will delete all language files excluding the en_GB and en_US language files. FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\Languages|*.qm ExcludeKey1=FILE|%ProgramFiles%\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\Languages\lang_en_GB.qm ExcludeKey2=FILE|%ProgramFiles%\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\Languages\lang_en_US.qm For some reason I cannot find a better Detect for Malwarebytes version 3.1.2 and newer. [Revo Uninstaller Pro (Lng)*] Section=Language Files Detect=HKCU\Software\VS Revo Group\Revo Uninstaller Pro Default=False Warning=This will delete all language files excluding English. FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\VS Revo Group\Revo Uninstaller Pro\lang|*.ini ExcludeKey1=FILE|%ProgramFiles%\VS Revo Group\Revo Uninstaller Pro\lang\english.ini
  14. Just do a AV scan and Malware scan Read this as well.
  15. Just get a better Antivirus and scan your PC/Laptop with Malwarebytes. But this time most AVs should detect the issue For more info read this link
  16. Well this was an intresting read. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/ccleaner-compromised-to-distribute-malware-for-almost-a-month/ ".....between August 15 and September 12 was modified to include the Floxif malware...."
  17. So you are stating that if one normally uses CCleaner the files being cleaned must be permanently removed as "Secure File Delete" does ? If so, don’t you think that this may case a lot of problems for the average normal user that by accidently cleaned files that should not have been removed? "Secure File Delete" functionality is there for a reason and the normal cleaning functionality as well.
  18. I think that people must get their terminology correct. Anti-virus and malware applications classify the bundled toolbar within the NORMAL installer as PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) or provide a warning of potentially unsafe not as Malware. If your Anti-virus does not indicate anything it can mean one of two things. 1) they do not see the toolbar as a problem 2) they are not aware of the toolbar (how it works and so on) If the Anti-virus does hit the toolbar it can mean 1) they are aware of something we as users are not dues providing a warning 2) they still provide you the user the option to remove it or keep it. (that is what my ESET-NOD32 does, but I use the SLIM installer all the time) Virus Total scan result (note the file name: ccsetup516.exe)
  19. I am in the same boat as you with the in-depth knowledge aspect . 33°C and 42°C is not that bad if you think about it. CPUs can handle a lot more than that. My current CPU (i7-3770 22nm) was running at 70°C for a while after gaming for a weekend none stop on a stock standard Intel cooler. She was fine but I just changed my CPU cooler to a Cooler master 212x and now she is running in between 33°C - 45°C. Depending what I am doing with her. The new Intel is 14nm if not mistaken and that did make a massive improvement on power consumption and speed. If I have to choose between 45nm and 65nm I will go with the 45nm purely due to power usage as more power a thing use the hotter it will get. Anything else is a bonus.

    SSL Server Test

@Hazel, I bet you are fun at IT parties ?? . Interesting link you provided there thanks. I noted that it does slow down some sites that I used once or twice in the past, but the fact that it works makes it worth that couple of seconds wait.
  21. Does the architecture not mostly have to do with power consumption rather than speed ?
  22. Hi guys and yes girls as well, Was reading a wonderful topic about an online school registration system that asked a lot of personal information. The kicker was that they did not use ANY security on the site, only after a security consultant picked it up and informed the public not to use the website service the developers implemented TLS [Transport Layer Security]. In the post they had this website where one can test the security of a website. To the point, Do you trust SSL or TLS on a site ? As I am of nature not to trust any site period. Not even my bank online. Side note: Does anyone use the plugin HTTPS Everywhere ?
  23. Well here is mine. Man my wife is messy
  24. For the love of all things good in this world and universe ..... This is staring to become a stereo type of a topic "CCleaner is installing malware.........................." Lets face it, people do not read, and their short term memory does not develop into long term storage what so ever. Most people only create an account and post ONE thing. That one thing is to complain on a topic that has been dead for a while, resurrected, DIED and guess what, brought back alive, again. A real Lazarus effect they are having here. I am going to say something knowingly it may cause a problem or two. Do you people read ? and yes I am referring to you ticomilitar, LadyDaisy.
  25. Hi, First things first. Go in to your BIOS and see if your system still sees the the boot hard drives. The one that your OS was installed on if you have more than one drive. If your system still sees the hard drive, one can just boot up from the OS disk and run a repair. This should resolve the problem. This will not affect any of your personal files. IF your system does not see the hard drive, remove it and try to install it into another PC and see if that system sees the drive.
