  1. How does this compare to CutePDF?
  2. I agree...no point in really jumping the gun. I feel it's the same for Java updates. Why go through all that effort of a menial update if everything works fine the way it is (PS I would call dotnet V3 menial here...). I think sometimes we get too excited with updates regardless of their functionality

    UltimateDefrag

I use System Mechanic Pro V6. It has its own built in defrag utility which also does a nice job. I like the simply One Button does all feature. Although there are better ways of improving the efficiency of your system, I like this manner because it saves time and everything is in one place. I simply use that...and CCleaner of course.

    NVU

I used the free version. Note past tense. There was a simply annoying bug where I couldn't change the background colour of the cell. From this simple annoyance I had to move onto other editors. Although it is free. I wouldn't actually recommend it based that no update seems in sight. Rather go with MS on this one for now...

    NVU

AFAIK nothing has happened much with it. The last release: Nvu 1.0 - Released June 28th, 2005 It's good, but not great. I used it for a bit but discovered annoying bugs, so now use Visual Web Developer from MS.

    Zune Theme?

    See also here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Enhan...oir-Theme.shtml
  7. "Many of the junk messages had, hidden within them, text from JRR Tolkien's classic work The Hobbit." "Using a one-time use credit card, Mr Peterson bought some pharmaceuticals from one of the web shops and was amazed when a package arrived in the post." Thought that was very interesting (above and entire article). Shot again Humpty.
  8. I'm with JDPower on this one. If you tick the 'Check for updates automatically' doesn't it then load in your start-up thus resulting in memory being allocated for the program?
  9. Since the Sandboxie technique is something completely novel, I still want to give it time to read through every blah blah fishpaste. I do want to try it, but only once I've read through all the required things. Put it this way...it's on my to-do list
  10. Hi Humpty, Just wanted to say thanks for all the useful links you always provide. Always an interesting read.
  11. Windows Live OneCare Firstly it's not called once care ...although that is funny. I used it during the Beta stage. It was pretty okay, but there are better products out there. My biggest issue I had with the program with that the pro of using the Beta was that you get the final product at discount. however this was only the case for U.S. citizens. This created quite a miffness factor for the rest of the world. Edit: It's still only available for U.S. citizens.
  12. Ta for the Ad-Muncher link
  13. It sounds very interesting the two products. Anybody ever try them? Are they the be-all-and-end-all to security problems? It sounds too good to be true...
  14. No spyware here either. I use Kaspersky, System Mechanic Pro and Opera.
  15. I've actually purchased the product. Went for the professional version since it came bundled with Kaspersky. I've used it since version 5 and haven't encountered any problems. The thing I like about it is that it has a One-Click Maintenance button. I know there are freeware equivalents out there, but I got tired of having to run x amount of programs whereby System Mechanic Pro can do it in one click.
  16. I use Opera too. Although I still appreciate Firefox, Opera saves the hassles by attempting an all-in-one solution. Found a page regarding comparison between Opera and Firefox on their extensions: http://my.opera.com/Rijk/homes/blog/extensions.html
  17. Likewise, also use Kaspersky Anti Hacker.
  18. I know the recommended spyware removal program (one of them at least) is Ewido 4. However currently I only use Kaspersky Anti-Virus as when reading the FAQ of it, it indicates that using it's extended database it will rid your PC (and protect continuously) of spyware. I know the general consensus is to always use more than one application when encountering such threats, but ONLY looking at Kaspersky, is it a start against spyware?
  19. I had to dig this out to show you all this... http://allofmp3.com/statement.shtml
