  1. I had the same problem and I "included" [edited by moderator] with Ccleaner and it cleaned it out. Try it and see
  2. Thank you all for the info/advice. ?I will be running the Auto Shutdown batch file from now on, and will be cleaning the Registry as advised. Thanks again and, Cheers!!
  3. I run CCleaner at Computer Start and have also configured it to Close Program after cleaning. My question is: ?Does the s'ware check for Updates AND clean the Registry in the above mode ?? ?I have never been advised that there is an update. Excellent program!!!!!
  4. Davey.....You've hit it on the head with that link you suggested. The characters look identical, but the progs are different, of course. Also refer to my previous reply. Cheers to all.
  5. Thanks to all for your suggestions and advice. Now that I've collected myself, I should say that my friend does not have Nero installed, he did have to send his notebook away for 'Caterpillar' to install some software/manuals, so no one knows who used it and what they accessed. What I can say is that I have deleted [and saved the Key from the Registry] it and have restarted the notebook several times and nothing seems to be wrong with it. I am attaching a copy of that 'Key' for you to look at. In all my 30+ years in computing, I've never seen such an entry in the Registry!! The dashes/hyphens are the strange characters. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]"Sidebar"="C:\\Program Files\\Windows Sidebar\\sidebar.exe /autoRun""捁牥吠畯r"="""捁牥吠畯⁲敒業摮牥"="㩃䅜散屲捁牥潔牵剜浥湩敤⹲硥e""ehTray.exe"="C:\\Windows\\ehome\\ehTray.exe""MsnMsgr"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Windows Live\\Messenger\\MsnMsgr.Exe\" /background""DAEMON Tools Lite"="\"C:\\Program Files\\DAEMON Tools Lite\\daemon.exe\" -autorun""CCleaner"="\"C:\\Program Files\\CCleaner\\CCleaner.exe\" /AUTO" Again, thanks to all and look forward to your remarks.
  6. I am a great believer in CCleaner!!! However, I offered to do some maintenance on a friend's laptop and I ran the cleaner. In the Tools> Startup window I saw 2 entries with Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters, and I don't know whether I should delete them outright, or not. I ran the anti-virus and it did not find anything 'suspicious'. Being an English [Australian] language machine setup, I am totally lost in this instance. Can you please advise me what to do????? Regards.
  7. Thank you very much, MUSHU13!!! It works perfectly!!!!
  8. Mushu13, As a total neophyte, can you please guide me as to what, and how, I am meant to handle that revised script of <Saison's>? 1. Do you type the 'script' and save it as batch file or what? 2. Where does the portion of the <CCleandelete.reg> go? In the same script as in [1] or is it saved as a separate "reg" text file? 3. Do I copy the latest version of CCleaner to the USB disk and install it from there? 4. When, or at what stage, do I run the above 'script'/batch file or whatever in order to make it <portable>? Sorry to ask such silly questions, but I am nowhere near your level of competency, as you can see. Thank you, and regards.
  9. Hi all, One "refinement" I would love to see is the "portability" of Ccleaner. I would dearly love to be able to install it on my USB Flash Disk and carry it around with me. Any comments? Sampson.
