  1. Hi Folks, After doing a Start-Find Files and Folders Search I ran CCleaner, went back and ran the same search from the Start menu again and it brought up the results almost immediately - not the normal search response time. I assume this means my original find search request had been saved somewhere and CCleaner did not delete it. How do I make sure this stuff is being deleted and/or is there another way to search for files and folders without going through the Start menu? Thanks to anyone who can help.

    winapp2.ini

Okay - I'm confused. When I first downloaded winapp2.ini and placed it in my CCleaner folder, the software cleaned out a whole bunch of stuff that I wasn't able to clean before installing winapp2.ini. However, since then it doesn't seem to be doing any thing. I've deleted and re-downloaded a couple of times to no avail. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
  3. Thank you so much Tony, for the Tweak UI recommendation - and you too, Andavari - unchecking "Add new documents to Documents in Start Menu" absolutely did the trick. You guys are great - thanks again.
  4. Hi Andavari, Thanks, but I haven't graduated to XP yet. Can you tell me how to do the same thing in 98 SE? - not the Tweak UI - that doesn't seem to do anything that CCleaner doesn't do. How do I set Start menu to 0 in 98 SE, or can I set something up in CCleaner? Thanks for your help.
  5. Hi folks, Okay - it's a good thing that CCleaner can clean all those nuisance short cuts that get created every time you open a file, video, or jpg, but what I want to be able to do is prevent the shortcuts from forming in the first place. They serve no purpose except to take up space. If someone could tell me how to fix this I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
  6. Thanks Andavari, However, I think I need some help. When I try to set up Custom files for cleaning of stuff in the Internet Logs folder, I'm not able to. The only choice I seem to have is to clean the entire folder - in the Custom setup it gives me C:\Windows\Internet Logs*.* - I can't select just the .tmp, .log, and .txt files. I also can't figure out how to use the winapp2.ini Internet Logs entries. How do I get them into the Custom Files and Folders to Clean box? - mine only lets me browse. If you can tell me how to do this, I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks.
  7. I don't want to keep anything that CCleaner is already cleaning - I want to clean more - I just want to make sure it's safe to clean out all the Internet Logs that I listed above. Can someone please say yes or no. Thanks.
  8. Thanks Andavari and Aaron, Just to clarify - in my Internet logs folder I have stuff I don't understand, such as IAMDB.RDB, BACKUP.RDB, several .TMP files with names like xDB2371, an ErrorLog.tmp file, a few log .txt files, an .ldb file with my user name. Then there's a Zone Labs deBug log. A few of these files are fairly large - especially the Zone Labs file - so if I don't need them I'd like to clean them regularly. Thanks again for your help.
  9. Since no one has answered my first post, I thought I might simplify things with this question - Is it safe to clean my internet log folder? Someone please respond - thanks.
  10. Hi there, I've recently discovered the following folders/files that get updated daily on my system and I was wondering if it is safe to clean them: Microsoft Media Player Current Data XUL.nfl - from Firefox Profiles gsyfsety.default A Zone Labs debug log An image viewer db file All of these are fairly large, especially the Zone Labs file, so if I don't need them I'd like to free up the space. Finally, on a totally separate topic - when I set CCleaner for Secure File Deletion at either the DOD or NSA mode, the process accesses my floppy drive instead of my hard drive - this doesn't seem right so if someone could tell me how to make it work properly, I'd appreciate it. Thanks for your help.
  11. Hi Glenn, Thanks a lot man! - The screenshot did the trick - I wasn't sure how to do that. Now it's working fine. Thanks again! Thanks Andavari, I really appreciate your help, but Glenn's screenshot showed me the way - All is well.
  12. Hi guys, #1 - I'm using CCleaner v1.29 - The shortcuts from the Recent Word docs aren't being cleaned #2 - I'm using Windows 98 and Office 2000 - Also, I don't use Internet Explorer so I don't have CCleaner running from within IE.
  13. When you finish with a Word (new or old) or insert jpg's into a new one, Windows creates a shortcut for the doc and/or jpg. It deletes them after 60 days, but that's much too long to wait. I tried to get CCleaner to do the job by using the Custom feature and adding the folder where they're located - C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Recent - but it doesn't get rid of the shortcuts. I have to delete them manually or wait 60 days. Can someone tell me how to do it with CCleaner or some other way?
  14. Hello, This is my first post. Today when I cleaned my system, I noticed an item on my CCleaner list that I haven't seen before: sti tracelog. What is this and should I be concerned about it? I did do a Google search and found out Windows 2000 can download a tracelog product that can disable whatever a tracelog is. Unfortunately, I'm still on Windows 98 and I wasn't able to find such a product for my machine. If one exists, please let me know. Also, FYI I use Firefox 1.5 as my browser and Zone Labs for my Firewall - I just downloaded their latest update a few days ago. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
