  1. Thank you for the excellent product Ccleaner. At present I am running Registry Mechanic and it has served me well. Can I replace RM with the one in Ccleaner and get decent, reliable results? At the present time I have unchecked every item in the "registry" part of Ccleaner because of the duplication with Registry Mechanic. If the answer is yes, then do I check every single item in the "Registry" part on Ccleaner? Thanks for any clarification.
  2. Will Ccleaner work with a 64 bit Windows OS? Thank you
  3. I have had no problems with K-Meleon. I have added the suggestions in K-Meleon that mFenech recomended because CCleaner doesn't service K-Meleon like it does Firefox. But other than that I just installed it and moved the bookmarks to K-Meleon and ran it. You must be doing a lot of things that I don't need I guess.
  4. Dear Sirs: Great Product. Saves me from a lot of The Microsoft induced headaches. Would you be so kind as to add K-Meleon to your list of things to check like you do for FireFox. I know people have asked for this over a year ago but I am asking again. I'll never go back to FireFox. K-Meleon is so much better. Regards, Jack Shankle I have contributed to CCleaner. Email address edited out to avoid spamming
  5. At this point I uninstalled CCleaner and reinstalled CCleaner. Called up CCleaner and look on the lefthand side and went into Applications. FireFox was not there BUT K-Meleon was not added..... I've done all I can to solve problem.
  6. OK - part of problem solved. Evidently there was a conflict as to which browser was the default. FireFox has been uninstalled and K-Meleon can address this site. If I go on K-meleon and go to the URL (where web addresses are keyed in) and click on the triangle at the end of the URL bar I find that the last visited sites are NOT cleared. I have the latest version of CCleaner. I have no idea how to solve this problem.
  7. I'm not sure. I guess it depends on where I've been last. BUT it should be K-Meleon. I have saved my FireFox Bookmarks and am now going to uninstall FireFox and see what Happens. Wish me luck...
  8. More on the same subject. I am finding that when I sign on to this site it uses FireFox. If I delete FireFox how will I be able to enter this site? It appears CCleaner is tied into FireFox and FireFox only. I will try uninstalling FireFox and try to enter this site. I'll bet I am dead with the attempt. Correct me if I am wrong.
  9. Hope this is in correct place. The latest version is NOT clearing the Temporary Internet files in K-meleon. I have migrated from Mozilla Firefox to K-Meleon. Running Windows Vista Have 3 web browsers on the Puter: Internet Explorer. (this must stay) Firefox (probably could be deleted) K-meleon (new web browser) It must be some setting that I am not aware of. Maybe I might have to uninstall FireFox. Or uninstall CCleaner and reinstall it after uninstalling FireFox. Great product. Thanks much. Your help would be very much appreciated.
  10. My wife gets notification of a new update in Outlook Express email. She is running Windows 98 2nd ed. I don't, running Windows XP Pro and Outlook Express. We both have the same firewall in the BellSouth modem. Thanks for helping, JPS
  11. I'm not using the Windows Firewall. Mine is in the modem from BellSouth. I do have it set to check for updates in options. Thanks for your reply. JPS
  12. Running Windows XP Pro and Outlook Express. I don't get notifications of a new version of CCleaner. What's blocking the notification? Wife's machine running Windows 98 gets the notification of a new version. Thanks for any help. JPS
  13. When I got CCleaner "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours" was checked. I unchecked it and ran Analyze. It came up with 600+ files. I then ran CCleaner and it deleted all of them. I hope that solves the problem. Thanks for the help. JPS
  14. Hi, I've got the information you requested. I'll send two messages - The first one with the 600+m. The second one with what was deleted. Since the last message I sent, I disabled The Kodak Camera software from the startup procedure. Obviously it didn't make any difference. All said, CCleaner is a GREAT product. Thanks, JPS Hi, This is the 2nd Message with what CCleaner deleted. Thanks, JPS jpslog.txt jpslog2.txt jpslog.txt jpslog2.txt
  15. No, I did not save the listing of what was deleted. Next time this happens I will save both things. Thanks, JPS
  16. I finally got a 600m clean. I'll try to add the attachment. It is quite large so I hope that's OK. JPS log.txt log.txt
  17. I am using Internet Explorer 6.0. I shouldn't have to close anything. CCleaner hasn't failed since I started this thread. I will try to get a screen shot when it does fail. This failure only occurs infrequently. Thanks, JPS
  18. 1. When I went into MSCONFIG I disabled ONLY the startup processes for running apps. 2. I shouldn't have to disable my running apps to run CCleaner. I run CCleaner every time I get off the Internet (500 times a day) I just hate people who put stuff on my computer unasked. 3. My virus program is NOD32(ESET) 4. Haven't got the error since I started this thread. Thanks again for the help. JPS
  19. 1. there are no checks in the advanced settings. So hotfix is not checked. 2. I close Ccleaner by going to the "x" in the upper right corner. 3. I went to RUN and typed in msconfig and took the check out of the startup and rebooted and ran Ccleaner. No change that I could see. 4. If I get the condition where I analyze and CCleaner runs for quite a time and comes up with over 600M of items, I will try to get a screen shot of it. Thanks for all your help. JPS
  20. It does not clean more if I run it over. All the stuff that starts up at bootup is running Thanks for your answer JPS
  21. I run Ccleaner and it finds 600m to clear. Then when I clear it it only clears 2m. Why???? This only happens occasionally. Thanks for any help. jps
