Having looked closer at the recovery program I have used for sometime, it also scans the entire hard drive. However, in addition to some filters it maintains the explorer file structiure making it very easy to find file that you wish to recover. Wonder if this might be possible for Recuva MRG

Should also have said. That Recuva finds more files and resores them better to. So, a thumbs up MrG

  1. Mike, by using the scan button first, all files found are listed, then you just type in jpg, png or mp3 into the filter and only those type of files will then be shown.

Ok hadn't noticed that, but still think you should be able to Scan by extension. Perhaps its just me, but dont see why you have to do a complete scan first!

  2. Installed and worked well found and recovered a picture deleted weeks ago.

However, to be really usefull it will need a user friendly filter system ie: if I am looking .jpegs I wouldn't want to see all the other recoverable files. Also think there should be a command to obscure system files.

  3. Hi Mike, this doesn't seem very likely. I'm sure most of the regulars here are members of other forums other than this one (even though this one is the best ;) )

I have no clue what is causing the problem though. It can't be just the two of us experiencing this surely ?

Perhaps others do not use the auto log-on. I also meant other IP based forums. Just to prove my theory I deleted the other forum and this one was then remebered and logged me in. The first forum wouldn't. I reversed the situation and my main photography forum is ok and this one wont auto log in again.

  4. It would seem the the new invision power program only alows a user to remember one forum with auto login. I have found if I remove the other forum I frequent then the cookies for this forum are remebered. But the bad news not both. So it looks as if I will have to log in everytime. Seems a very poor piece of programing

  5. Found the problem I think. I have had to delete the link to the forum from my favourites, then create a new one. All seems to be working ok now.

  6. Just installed Foxit very impressed with it's speed and works well with IE 7

A better explanation of the flaw -

The vulnerability in Adobe Reader's browser plug-in, which was publicized Wednesday by several security companies, can let hackers force trusted Adobe PDF (Portable Document Format) files to run malicious JavaScript code on victimized PCs.

Early Wednesday, Symantec researchers insisted that only Firefox 1.5 and Opera 9.10 were vulnerable to a possible exploit; by Thursday, however, additional research had confirmed that some versions of Internet Explorer are at risk. According to an updated DeepSight threat network alert, IE 6.0 on XP SP2 equipped with Adobe Reader 6, as well as IE 6 on XP SP1 running Reader 7, are vulnerable. Also at risk: Firefox 1.5, Firefox 2.0, and Opera 9.10 when running either Reader 6 or 7.

"Version 6 of Internet Explorer is impacted," says David Cole, director of Symantec's security response group. "The best way for enterprises and users to protect themselves is to update Adobe Reader."

Late Wednesday, Adobe said that Reader 8.0, which was launched a month ago, was invulnerable to the cross-site scripting (XSS) bug, and recommended that all users update to that version immediately. "We encourage all users to update to this latest version of Adobe Reader," an Adobe spokesman wrote in an e-mailed statement. "[We are] also working on updates to previous versions that will resolve this issue." Fixes will be posted to Adobe's security site when they are completed, he added.

  7. A rant in that case equals a fact.

Although the majority of the IE security updates mention nothing of virus, instead it's typically a patch to fix a security hole in which someone can remotely control a Windows-based computer.

...and what about mozillas latest 10 bug fixes. Every system will have some weakness. You just need to keep it all in proportion.

  8. The problem has been fixed.

(So it's a bug or not ? If yes will be fixed ? Are you working on this Nick ? )

The issue had to do with foreign characters in file names, and we have update our definition set to handle the issue.

As Pandato indicated, there is actually an issue in Windows (on 98/ME) that caused a crash when retrieve malformed version information, that has also been addressed.
