It could be the Temp Variables,
Which is what I pointed out in my first post It may well be worth investigating to see if a modified temp variable to include a temp folder on another drive could cause a problem.
-
It wasn't really the problem, why it was deleted, it was the way he did the post (his attitude). The Temp Variable has been fixed and none of us can reproduce this problem. Some of the stuff he was saying, I don't think is even possible to do with CCleaner, I have tried everything I could on my test pc to screw anything up, and I have had no luck.
But like I said, it was the way he did the post, which was totally uncalled for. Even MrG has looked into the problem with no luck, if we could get more info then CCleaner deleted everything, that doesn't explain anything at all.
Thanks for your explanation.
I contacted Arjun off line and established that the C drive where he installed CCleaner was all correctly cleaned. His second internal drive D appears to have been seen as a temp by CC clearing all the files on it but leaving folder headers. Still think its a pity we could not have helped rather than hitting the delete key. I am sure anyone of us would have been very annoyed at losing treaured data.

A recent post from a member Arjon reporting that after using CCleaner all of his files had been removed. Seems to have been deleted. I am curious as to why.
Specially since the problem he reported, has been reported several times before while I have been visiting this forum. I seem to remember that this error was attributed to the "Temp Variable" settings being non standard.
Was his post deletion neccessary, would it not have been to everyones advantage to establish the cause, in case it occurs again ??

I suggest you uninstall - Adobe Acrobat 7.0 reboot and then see if your problem is solved. Should you require the program in the future it is a free download. or you can install foxit which is a much better option anyway
-
Have you checked in - control panel /sounds and audio/ sounds and checked to see if they are still selected.

The language tool bar will be started by IE7 if you have more than one language in your regional settings, even if you have disabled it. Cant help with Aim

Sometimes when you uninstall programs, it doesn't remove everything, mostly the registry entries. You will need to delete the registry entires of that program you uninstalled for them not to come up in CCleaner.
So, why doesn't ccleaners issues scanner pick them up and clean them out, I wonder ?

New version 3.7 available to update

Also, let's not forget that "newer" is not necessarily better...
A Ford model T is still a car and gets you from place to place, but an Aston Martin does it so much better and quicker

Not for me Hazel, I gave it up along with Adaware SE a year ago. They both seem oudated to me, when compared with Superantispyware, AVG anti Malware and some of the others. But, I know both programs have a lot of supporters.

I am a semi pro photographer and use Canon equipment. If you would like to post one of the photo files to me in a PM I would be happy to check it over to see if it can be recovered. Or, send me a PM and I will give you my e-mail and you can send a sample that way.

Mike, I remember a poster here who had set a cleaner to wipe free space, forgetting that when the free space falls below 50mb sys restore removes the restore points.
http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=6021
The article is a guide and can be helpful, later on in the above thread Norton was the culprit, which is also mentioned in the guide.
Hi Hazel
Have a read here -
http://bertk.mvps.org/html/symantecdoc1.html
This is the page about NIS it is only for using restore points, not removing them. Eraser was the culprit for one user the others didn't report how they got on. Search as I may I cannot find an answer other that Eraser and Ghost. There was a problem with Kaspersky at one time because it cleaned the ADS which removed the Restore points reference. So perhaps there is another program cleaning in the ADS thast causing it

Hello Janz, CCleaner does not remove system restore points.
Have a read of this system restore troubleshooting guide, it is very good and quite often the answer can be found there.
Hazel this article is about restore points not working.I cant find any reference to why a restore point is being removed.
I have in the past seen reference to Norton Ghost removing restore points. Perhaps other back-up program might as well, but it does seem odd to me that so many users of CCleaner have reported this problem.

Try uninstalling your modem driver and then reboot pc windows should then find new hardware (the Modem) and install driver
-
Have you tried selecting just a few issues at a time to remove? it maybe you have to many to remove at one go
-
You may also have a corrupt Windows installer. Here is a link to download the latest version

Is this what you're looking for ? Speed comparison or Which interface ...?
Yes this is what I was after Glenn Thank you.
I have used a USB modem for the past 3 years without any real problem. However, just been given an ethernet router and am trying this out, seems much the same as the USB, but at least there is no additional drivers to load.

Hope that batch file also ensures that the box 'files older than 48hours' is checked. Otherwise, downloaded programs or updates in the temp directories that require a reboot to activate will be lost.
