  1. Thanks for the info. My informant was a bit vague, or so I thought. I have no experience with any of the programs you mention. Reading this bug reporting forum though does make me unsure - so many issues. I think I shall continue with PurgeIE and let CCleaner pass into history.
  2. Hello Will, I cannot help you with your XP problem but I can recommend your use a half decent registry cleaner. This one does not aspire to much, and, if you have MSWord, well, do be careful. See my post in this forum: http://forum.ccleaner.com/index.php?showto...id=22742&st=0 Cheers. Ben.
  3. I, too, observe this problem of 'failure to analyze'. In my case it occurs when only one item is selected in the Windows cleaning tool - Temporary Internet Files. I have uninstalled it and that briefly allows the correct functioning as will a reboot. I do hope this 'bug' is fixed for I rate CCleaner very highly. I do know of a problem caused by the (careless?) use of the Registry Cleaner on a system with MSWord installed. The loss of three registry keys rendered Word inoperable. These: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{45756B7D-7E83-4CE5-9E51-DF7E05139E13}\LocalServer32] @="D:\\Officeb2tr\\OFFICE11\\MSPUB.EXE /IMG_STI /StiDevice:%1 /StiEvent:%2" HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{774DB03B-07CB-477E-9C78-CBD9FAB161BD}\LocalServer32] @="D:\\Officeb2tr\\OFFICE11\\MSPUB.EXE /IMG_WIA" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDlls] "D:\\Officeb2tr\\OFFICE11\\IEAWSDC.DLL"=dword:00000001 Ben.

    Conflict

Hello, I have read somewhere that if CCleaner is set to run at StartUp there is a created a problem with System Restore. If it is not run at startup your problem seems uniquely your own.
