  3. Here too. There is something wrong with „Smart Cleaning“ in options. It can’t be deactivated. Closing Ccleaner in the taskbar throws this error in Win event viewer.
  4. Problem is gone with last appupdate "Mail and Calendar" from Microsoft.
  5. Since 15.12.2017 the Windows 10-app (Metro app) "My Office" exist twice in Start Menu. One app can be installed, the other Icon seems to be dead. I uninstalled but the second Icon remains. Has onyone a solution to get rid of the second Icon? Tried the following: Restart, deinstalling, sign off, sign in, sign in another user, but nothing seems to be helping. An Ideas?
  6. look here, somethings wrong with System restore: https://www.tenforums.com/general-support/77514-file-system-filter-wcifs-event-id-4-a.html Maybe that is the reason the last patch-day was dropped.
  7. Hello mfa and hazelnut, thank you very much for your help. There are no services to be found regarding Gdata. GData was first installed in November 2015 on this machine. I kept no restore points before that date. I am using Acronis True Image for imaging. But I also did not keep an image that is nearly a year old. So I have to live with struggling defender. Maybe next year I will made a clean install when anniversary update II is released in April 2017. Thank for your helping. Uwe
  8. The problem is the Gdata-Programm. Yesterday I uninstalled the Total Protection again and used the tool from their homepage. Restarting the PC there were Gdata-related events in the windows event viewer regarding the windows logon and Gdata-Driver starting and so on. Funny - GData support is blaming Microsoft... I will have to live with the fact that windows defender on this PC cannot be activated unless I install a clean windows...
  9. No other security update. This pc is an alienware x51r2 and I bought last year in November with a clean install of windows 10 64 bit pro. It came without security software and the only security-programm I have installed is GData Total protection.
  10. Yes, I did. Tried all thinks. Ended up in an inplace upgrade. But defender will not activate.
  11. Hello, coming back to the roots: I have uninstalled GData but Windows Defender will not activate...
  12. Please look here http://www.brucebnews.com/2016/08/improvements-to-windows-defender-in-windows-10-anniversary-update/ "Limited periodic scanning even if another security program is installed"
  13. Hello mfa, thank you for responding. I know that defender is not rated well. But with anniversary update windows changed its design and I just want to see if I can use the defender. So know there is the possibility of doing an offline scan or doing a scheduled scan regardless of GData. In the windows registry there are no longer entries for defender. I am a little bit helpless because I have a Desktop with GData and defender not working (windows 10 pro 64 bit) and a laptop with Gdata, windows 64 bit home and defender working as it should...
  14. I am using Gdata total security. Since the windows anniversary update I cannot activate windows defender. It is telling me: Windows could not start the Windows Defender service on Local Computer. Error 577: Cannot verify digital signal; Recent hardware or software change might have installed a file incorrectly or damaged or might be malicious software source unknown. I have already tried to uninstall GData and used the AVCleaner from their homepage. But it is not possible to activate Windows Defender. I have already made Sfc /scannow, etc., and made an inplace upgrade with windows 10. What else can I do?
  15. Problem solved! In http://superuser.com...er-is-incorrect it is important to deactivate in the explorer options "Hide protected operating system files". Everything is working fine now. Hazelnut, thank you very much for your help. You did a great job!!! Best regards, Uwe
  16. Thank you very much for answering. But the solution does not work. There are no files in the mentioned folder, although show hidden files is enabled. I have too PC. Same result on the other machine (no files in the folder), but on this machine the credential manager Is working fine. More ideas?
  17. Sorry for my bad english: Using windows control panel in windows 10 pro 64 bit and there starting "credential manager" I get the error "failure in credential manager code 0x80070057". I chatted with Microsoft support and was given the explanation "this error is the result of using CCleaner" and I should reset windows completely. Are there any ideas fixing the problem? It is right that I am using CCleaner, but I never used the registry cleaner module.
  18. Sorry for my bad english. In CCleaner in the section "cleaner" there are two lists: "Windows" and "applications". How can I remove a software entry from the applications-list? I am a user of MS Office 365 and in the applications-list there is an entry "Office 2013" an an entry "Office 2016". How can I get rid of the first entry?
  19. Same here with Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit, CCleaner throws Errors in EventViewer: Side by Side, Event 78 C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.9600.17415_none_a9ed7f470139b3c1.manifest</Data> <Data>C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests\amd64_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.9600.17415_none_6240486fecbd8abb.manifest
  20. It would be nice CCleaner would be able to clean Itunes (Cache-Files, previous mediathek-Data etc.)..
  21. Thank you, but not everyone wants to use the winapp2.ini or a CCEnhancer. Why not making this function as Standard as Microsoft wants ot make Windows 8 Standard nowadays too?
  22. Hit "Windows" and "print" creates screenshots in Windows 8. These screenshots are named "screenshot (1), screenshot (2), etc. What about a solution to reset this Counter automatically? The registry-key is to be found in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer. There you can find the screenshot-counter that has to be reset to value "1". Automatic reset would be nice...
  23. In the last few years 64 bit windows got more and more standard. 64 bit software makes its registry entries under hklm/software/wow6432node/ Are there plans CCleaner to analyse this area too?
