  1. Andavari - thanks to your post, I persisted and went through the registry HKCU and HKLM, eliminating Adobe Reader 8.0 entries and I was successful in removing it from CCleaner Application menu. They really leave a lot of crap when an older version Adobe Reader is uninstalled - almost criminal. Thanks again!

  2. I just upgraded today. The reason for this is left over registry keys located in:

    HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0

    -or-

    HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0

Of course it also leaves a bunch of files on the disk too, so pretty much it's uninstaller is completely useless.

Thanks for the reply - you are correct - I found additional registry entries at HKCU\Software|Adobe\Acrobat Reader 8.0. I deleted that, but it doesn't solve the CCleaner problem. I had not only used the Adobe Uninstaller, but manually cleaned files using Windows Search, cleaned with CCleaner, EasyCleaner, and RegSeeker, deleting anything that had Adobe Reader 8.0. As you stated, obviously there are additional files which are still on the disk. I appreciate your response.

  3. I uninstalled Adobe Reader 8 and installed Adobe Reader 9 -Windows Add/Remove Programs are correct, showing Adobe Reader 9. However, under Applications in CC, Adobe Reader 8 still shows. Under Tools>Uninstall in CC, it does not. Is there something I need to do to "fix" the Applications category in CC? Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

  4. Hi:

This problem of deleting Windows Defender scan history still exists after installation of new version 2.05.555.

Sorta makes one wonder if anyone from Piriform reads these postings for this problem to exist for such a long time....

Just curious - does it also erase Windows Defender Scan History so WD doesn't think a scan has been run and flags the icon with a yellow slash? I have been having this problem on one of my home pc's but not on the other. Windows Defender is checked in Applications on both. This was about to drive me nuts - I scanned WD only to come back later (after running CC) to find that no scan history existed for WD - and the message "it has been more than 10 days since a scan was run" - with the yellow flagged icon in taskbar.

  5. It's close to 10x slower for my fully patched WinXP system. I reverted to 1.41.544.

Good idea - I reverted mine back to 1.41.544 also, until an update which work properly is released.

  6. I am having the same "slow" problem on win 2k, but not on win xp. I reverted to version 1.41 on the win 2k machine, and it works fine once again. I will keep using 1.41 until a newer 2.0 version is available, at which time I will try that.

Note: the cleaning is up to 10 times slower with the new version on the win 2k machine. For example, approximately the same number of megs may take approx 20 sec with the new version, but only about 2 seconds with 1.41.

Slower here on both home pc's too. Takes two runs across to clean. Hope they fix it soon.

  7. Vista theme?

I prefer the classic Windows look. It's simple and clean.

I agree totally. I have tried various ms styles, including WindowBlinds, Vista Pack, etc. and I just keep coming back to Windows Classic. It is simple and clean - well stated. :)
