    Mamutu!

From the people who brought you A-squared Free and related products: http://www.mamutu.com/en/software/mamutu/ http://download3.emsisoft.com/MamutuSetup.exe
  2. In the Applications tab of CCleaner, untick the check next to 'Internet History' in Firefox/Mozilla cleaning options... in Internet Explorer that's 'Recently Typed URLs'... and while you're at it, you should update Firefox to version 2.0.0.9!
  3. RUDD IS IN, LITTLE JOHNNY IS OUT!!! and I'm very surprised not to see it mentioned here already!

    NEC L1030

Okay kids, here's my issue: I have an NEC L1030 desktop computer with a lost/corrupted recovery partition - lost/corrupted owing to human error, ie myself. I've been waiting for TWO WHOLE WEEKS for a recovery CD to be sent out to me by the Australian NEC supplier - as of last Thurs my support request had been "processed", whatever that may mean... In the meantime I've tried all sorts of tools to help me recover the lost data - running WinXP Pro on a computer which is meant to run Vista probably doesn't help matters any I can access the recovery partition but just can't recover from it; the closest I've come is by using TestDisk, but I have no understanding of certain operations of said tool. I've looked online for NEC's RecoveryTools as a download, all to no avail. I'm under warranty so can get free repair, no doubt IN AN INSTANT, but I can't live without my computer Yes, I'm a tragic with no life So! My question to all you wonderful, BRILLIANT experts out there - like Ishan for one - is, if I still have to wait another week or two or whatever for NEC to pull their fingers out and send me the blessed recovery stuff - WHAT THE HELL CAN I DO TO RECOVER MY SYSTEM to its original settings and whatnot????????? IS there some sort of downloadable .exe program to recover NEC computers, or do I just put up and wait? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  5. IF you norty ppl had the Automatic Update feature installed you wouldn't and therefore shouldn't even need to COME HERE to learn about an update to Firefox, let alone need to POST about an update in the first place!!!!!!!
  6. ishan, your profile picture makes you look deceptively older! Matt, DON'T get caught in the credit card trap, I owe just about $4500 on three cards! I'm 35 in biological terms, but mentally - I'm 10!
  7. 1.5's Immunizer is C-R-A-P!!! takes too bloody long to do what it used to do in practically five seconds in 1.4...
  8. version 3.26 is out as of the 19/09
  9. Simple solution: LEAVE THE UAC OFF!!! It's a pain in the butt, and you don't need it *if* you know what you're doing...
  10. Yeah, like certain sides of a certain road in my town!!
  11. I have 512/128 - which, when downloading stuff, is 10+ times faster than when I was on dialup My ISP is IPRIMUS I can probably get a better deal elsewhere, than the one I have now, but it does the job!
  12. I bought Your Uninstaller, yes I did, and for me it costs more money, seeing's how I have to convert my currency to US dollars I swear by it! Sometimes it will remove 100s, even 1000s, of redundant registry keys and other junk files - well worth it
  13. I've been having one of those days for nearly two months!
  14. YOUR UNINSTALLER does the job and more!
  15. not sure I agree with that Andavari - it's usually the makers of a program who pass on the updates to Major Geeks... unless someone can tell me otherwise?
  16. Hotfix Uninstaller doesn't remove the installed updates, just the ability to uninstal them... which as they're Very Important you really don't wanna do!
  17. If you download CCleaner from Major Geeks (which I don't), you'll see two separate downloads - with toolbar or without.
  18. It hasn't been cleaned to date...
  19. 959mb Can go up to 4gb apparently, or 3.5gb after whichever-whosit-whatsit! Tunerz: Ebay is our friend
  20. SPOTTED HIPPO serves up on the best OLDER VERSIONS of your favourite programs - and it's a link from download.com!
  21. McAfee is good - it cleared up 12-14gb of space wasted by system restore points
  22. I ran that Exctrist.exe utility thingy and I don't think it made much of a difference... PC Decrapifier couldn't help me whatsoever... my computer is made by NEC, if that helps anyone. I ran the Norton Removal Tool from Major Geeks and that solved my problems there. At the moment I have close on 200mb of metadata files, do I really need those??? The most RAM my machine can handle, as I understand it, is 4gb, but that scales back to 3.5 for some reason. Think I really need Core 2 Duo or Quad Core to make any difference... Or hell, just another new decent system!
  23. Finally, Webroot have got around to making Window Washer work with the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera et al. I don't know about you lot, but I've been waiting for this one for ages and ages... glad I never bought the darn thing too! You can pick it up from HERE
  24. IE7 has improved since the introduction of tabbed browsing... I came across Opera when it was version 5 or so... I discovered Firefox at 1.0PR... I've used Avant, Seamonkey, Netscape, the old Mozilla, Flock... I've even tried (extremely briefly) Safari for Windows... However, for me, a browser is only worth its while (tabs notwithstanding) if it supports Roboform - and that in itself is a hoary chestnut, especially with Opera users. It seems the v0.9.x Flock and Safari aren't taking on Roboform, so they're out. Firefox remains the firm favourite
