  1. Does this work with ie7 cookies? Previous versions deleted the cookies even if marks to keep. Actually, the cookies were not deleted, since they were still there, but ie7 could find them after rebooting.

  2. With the Cleaner icon clicked on the left side of thw window, you have 2 tabls to select from. The Windows tab should be selected. The first major coverage choice is Internet Explorer, the third one down is System. Under System uncheck Temporary files. Unchecking this box prevents CCleaner from removing coiokies under IE 7. Apparently IE 7 now stores cookies in the Temp Files folder under System.

With that said, not much gets cleaned up by CCleaner if you do not remove the Temporary files under System.

nope, still same thing for me at least. Cookies are there and saved, but on reboot IE7 doesn't "see" them, but they are still there in the temp folder.

  3. I am using CCleaner 1.29.295 also and with IE 7 the cookies disappear. I found that you have to uncheck The Temperory Files UNDER THE SYSTEM catagory to keep the cookies from disappearing. Un checking that however keeps CCleaner from removing much.

I'm not quite sure what you are saying to do. Can you explain a little better.

  4. Hi Guys!

I use MSN Hotmail many times a day. I also use CCleaner several times a day.

After installing the latest version a few days ago I find that after running the cleaner I have to re-enter my username and p/w to log into my Hotmail acct.

I have saved all the usual cookies from before but now this and I don't know what cookies? to save or?

    Thanks! JMH

    What browser are you using?

  5. IE7 Cookie issue is still there - CCLeaner is still deleting cookies I have told it to save.

Specifically, IE7 is storing cookies in two places -

    C:\documents and settings\username\cookies and

    C:\documents and settings\username\local settings\temporary internet files

CCleaner leaves them in the first but wipes them out of the second along with all the other temp files. IE7 loses the information in the cookie if the cookies in the temp folder are deleted.

So I am not the only one this is happening to....

  6. All that I can tell you sweetie is to post on the IE7 beta board. There have been may reports with IE7 beta cookie problems.

When was the last time that you installed XP btw?

    Good Luck! :)

    K

I did a complete reinstall about 3 weeks ago (after the last time I posted this issue).

  7. I love this app. You guys are the greatest and I am not complaining at all....I have been using IE7 since it was been released to beta testers (I am a legit tester) and I am still experiencing the same problem I had with previous versions. This could be my setup, so I am not stating this is in all cases:

I log into a few sites (lets use Google for example), and then install ccleaner 1.29.295 and below. I select to save the google cookies. IE is closed and I run ccleaner. I open IE7, and my cookie remains, all is well.

I reboot, with or without having ccleaner clean on startup, and my cookie is gone (but not really gone, I'll explain later). If I open ccleaner, go to cookies, it shows it is still there, and it is still marked to keep. This even occurs if the entire cookie open is unchecked.

Now, the wierd part. If I go to Documents and Settings, Admin (as I am logged in as), local settings, temporary internet files....the cookie is still there.

I have played some more, and if I don't mark any cookies to keep, they all are gone in that folder, so the keeping safe works, but again, not really since IE7 doesn't see it anymore. Also, if I uninstall ccleaner, all is normal again, and the cookies are picked up by IE7 on reboots and all. As soon as I install ccleaner, and reboot, IE7 no longer picks them up.

Any suggestions, thoughts, ideas? All my setups are default directorys and folders and such, so nothing is customized or unusual.

  8. Post the entry you've been toying with in winapp2.ini.

Note: Since I don't have IE7 beta 2 installed I can only tell you if you've made input errors into winapp2.ini just by eyeballing it, I can't confirm correct registry or directory locations.

That's the problem I have no idea.

  9. Maybe you could download winapp2.ini, and place it in the same folder as winapp.ini. From there you can add the appropriate IE7 settings. By doing that you can adjust CCleaner to be more compatible with IE7...IF you do it correctly.

Have you noticed my signature? ; )

I'll try that right now. Thanks

  10. Krit,

I have done some more testing and found the following out: Cookies are, after reboot, still in the original folders (see attachment), however they are not able to be found after the reboot. In the attachment, I did a screenprint of the search results of a system search of "Cookie:admin@ixebeta" before a reboot with CC installed. Then, after a reboot, the same search yields no files found, HOWEVER, if I manually navigate to the same folders in the attachment, they are there as before.

It is almost as if they don't exist anymore after the reboot with CC installed (note: settings are set to not run at reboot, and the cookie is marked as safe, all other settings default). This does not occur if I run CC. If I run CC, the search results find the cookie.

Does that make any sense? Only with CC installed does this occur.

All, I understand that this is not a CC bug as it seems to be on my computer only.

  11. Hey :)

    Can you be more specific?

Is there a file being deleted that you don't want deleted? If so, which one.

Yeah, same problem. My IE7 cookies (while they still appear in the Temp folder), are being deleted. I thought maybe if I could mark them to be saved (other than in the CC cookie options), I would try that. I just don't want to give up.

  12. L-click the "+" sign on the top left part of the window.

    click "Import and Export..."

    click Next

    click "Import Cookies"

    nope. still no luck.

what about this (from what I posted on the first page):

After installing IE7 beta 2 preview, the index.dat file is no longer visible in the Content.IE5 folder, but index.dat suite and CCleaner find it and report its size. However, if I clear it on restart all the saved cookies are also deleted. This is particularly annoying as I then have to log in to each forum again.

  13. I just have a few quick after thoughts.

    1. How are your Temporary Internet Files and History configured: Tools > General > Browsing History > Settings.

    2. Did you use the "Import Cookies" wizard to save your favorite cookies?

    3. How is your IE7 configured? Just some basics so that I can set mine up the way that your is.

Thanks again for helping. I am not home so I can't check exactly, but here is what I recall:

    1. 50MB cache, Check for never versions everytime, and keep all for 1 day

    2. I don't recall a "import cookies" wizard. I assume it is in CC, an I click on settings, then Cookies, and then pull over the ones I want to keep.

    3. Everything on default.

  14. Okay, I am not able to reproduce your problem.

    C:\Documents and Settings\user name

    cook12rj.th.jpg

    C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

    cook37ry.th.jpg

The rest of the files that you indicated containing cookies, did not on my computer. I have more screen shots if needed.

My index.dat file is still visible in my Content.IE5 folder.

After rebooting my saved cookies were still saved.

    hmmm. I will keep trying.

OKay...my cookies are still there too, but they do not work...for example: Google. I log in on the home page to get my personal settings. I click "remember me". I can close IE7 100 times, and it still logs me in. If I reboot, with CCleaner installed (even set to not run), when I open IE7 again on Google, the cookie did not log me in.

I hate pointing fingers, but I am on my fifth restore from a clean image, and it only occurs if cclean is installed.
