  1. That's better. Try this:

    - Go to post #4 of this thread:

    http://forum.pirifor...showtopic=25696

There you'll find the embedded script for Office 2003 that tells CC what to wipe.

    - Copy all the lines (22 in total) that are under the [Office 2003] entry and start with Filekey.... and Regkey.... to a text file (with e.g. Notepad).

    - Strip all the lines of Filekey...= or Regkey...=. So, e.g. Regkey3=HKCU.......... becomes HKCU..........

    - Save the textfile and add all those lines to the ""Exclude"" section of CC.

    - Now you must find out which of those lines is responsible for wiping the info you want to keep. Delete the lines one by one at a time and run CC again after removing each line. There could be more than one line that's wiping the info that you want to keep. A matter of trial and error.

A similar procedure works/should work for EVERY program for which the Piriform folks have provided a embedded script. A lot of those embedded scripts for a lot of programs can be found here:

Many thanks - I'll try it in a few days. Sorry I hadn't replied earlier, only I have been away

  2. Questions for you and your friend:

    - What do you mean by ""losing return adress"" ?

    - Which version of CC do you use (v2.34 ??) ? Did this occur in previous versions of CC as well ?

    - Perhaps this problem started to occur after you installed (a) program(s) recently ? (MS Windows Update ??)

    - What MS Office boxes appear in the Application pane of CC ?

Office 2000 isn't (officially) supported by CC (Office 2003 is), so I am a bit surprised that you think CC wiped that ""return adress"". Do you use a customized Winapp2.ini file with an additional Office 2000 entry ? I tend to think that CC isn't the cause for this problem.

    CC version is v2.34.1200

I don't know whether it occurred in earlier versions of CCleaner as I have only recently installed CC on the Office 2003 pc.

Enter a return address under envelopes and labels. Save document

Run CC, the return address is still there

    Switch the pc off

Switch on again and the return address has disappeared.

  3. Gran, welcome to the forum.

I think you made an error while typing a line. The last character ""\"" must be a ""|"". When you type a line in the registry section of the Exclude section CC checks (with every character you type) whether that registry entry/key/line exists or not. As long as CC can't find that line in the registry, it greys out the OK button.

I tried changing the backslash, but no joy. After all - it is just a copy of the text posted earlier in this thread. The version of Office I am using is Office 2000, but a friend (who requires the change) uses Office 2003. Is that my problem?

  4. Billjf,

I hope you understand that now you have added that line to the Exclude section you can tick that box Office XP again. Then CC still will wipe a number of Office XP settings but that particular setting will be spared. wink.gif

There's - at least - someone who benefitted from your efforts and that's me. I use Office XP as well. wink.gif

I have the problem of the return address being 'lost' in Word after having run ccleaner. I tried to do as you suggested, but I have problems. When I go to try and exclude a registry entry, it doesn't seem to be listed. I select registry key, on browse, change to HKCU and type in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Word\Data\Settings, but OK is still greyed out - so I can't set it!
