  1. Win...I think here C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
  2. Didn't know the history...thnx. But it's part of DiskCleanup on Win7, with no caveats. It took 5 GBs off my laptop, but don't know where they were....hidden files?
  3. Why doesn't CC do this? Or have I missed it?
  4. 1. Next to the temp reading, it would be useful to have the max allowable. One temp reading in the present version has this, but not the others. Could an alarm go off if something gets too hot? 2. I'd like something to indicate (besides temp) that all the fans are working OK. thnx
  5. Cryptic as it might be, kroozer is correct. Rt click the entry, and select Add to Exclude List...that'll stop it. You can reverse by going to Options>Exclude.
  6. Using CCleaner, my checked items are: (Vista PC) ehTray Gadwin HotKeysCmds Intellipoint MS default manager Using msconfig: Intel common user interface MS intellipoint Default Manager Windows defender MS Windows OS Gadwin Note the msconfig items aren't the usual items I'm used to seeing on the msconfig list in XP or Win7...these more relate to the OS/bootup, not apps as I expected (Defender has been turned OFF by Norton, weird that it shows). On my Win7 machine, the checks agree but the total lists differ by maybe 25%; the lists differ by maybe 75% on Vista.
  7. Why is the msconfig startup list different than the CCleaner startup list? Which is correct? Using Win7/64 and Vista 32.
  8. Dennis, Cookie, Red...I agree with your SVI comments, thanks. Rob...thanks for the gut check, I appreciate it.
  9. Rob....wow, that's really interesting (even tho I don't understand all of it). Attached is my screen. There are about 45 fragment entries, the big ones are system vol info, and most of the other ones are under 100KB. Do I look OK?
  10. Against my better judgment, I thought I might defrag my C: drive. M$ Defragger showed C drive (~640GB) at 0% fragmentation, but System Reserve (100MB, I guess it's a Win7 thing) at 7%. I had wanted to try Defraggler, so I downloaded it...it showed 6% fragmentation on the C drive, and it didn't recognize anything called System Reserve. I then ran Defraggler (took about an hour). According to Defraggler, the C drive is now 25% fragmented! M$ Defragger is still reporting 0 and 7. What's going on? What should I do?
  11. Recuva is just doing what it's supposed to do...recover deleted files. To truly delete them, you need a file shredder program.
  12. JD....that's it! Many thnx.
  13. I've checked most of the Windows and Applications boxes so that CCleaner will get rid of most unnecessary files, esp those from IE8 and FF. I then run the analysis, and get (for ex) 60MB to be deleted. I then run the Cleaner and find that only 6MB gets deleted. So where are other 54MB that I thought CC would delete? And if I run the analysis again, I get zero to delete...so maybe I really did get the full 60MB? What's going on? [i've reinstalled, redownloaded, and restored...it's been this way thru several versions of CC] Thnx
