Hi Strangers! So here's the deal. I installed 'Disable Startup' to block programs from reinstalling themselves in my startup on every update which has made me very happy. So now what about their services? I have tried disabling the services and the Task Manager triggers, but they magically keep restarting! It is going to drive me mad! LOL Andavari is this something that your fancy Host file could manage/control? (sorry if that's a stupid question!) Glad you're all still here! :-D

Just to clarify...CapMan just wanted to tell me that when in a similar situation ATF Cleaner helped his situation. I posted my log on LS as well in hopes that someone, anyone, could determine why I couldn't run programs on the infected PC and how to fix the problem. I was getting desperate. I lucked out. I tested a theory, it worked and allowed me to begin running Malware Scanners and such. Sorry for the confusion!

Seriously? I have let it run as long as 6 hours, and it still hadn't finished. It's annoying...I have yet to complete a full defrag of this laptop.

Hey all, this might be a stupid question. I read awhile back that Vista takes a long time to defrag because it is constantly making system restore points during the defragmentation process. Is this true? If so, do you just need to turn off System Restore before defragging to speed it up? Thanks.

That policy file only had one key in it. This is what I need... [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies] expand this key...when you expand it do you see 'system'?

Okay, before doing anything else please navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies], do not expand it just export it then copy/paste the results in your reply. I think you'll have better luck this time .

Well the file download fine...it seems that you exported your entire HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT which is why the file was so large.
