  1. OK davey, I unchecked everything and added the options one by one trying each new setting several times before moving on to add another. Finally, the program crashed when the "Run (in Start Menu)" option is checked. I have now tried using CCleaner without that option and it is behaving very well now for about a month. I have updated to v.2.08.588 and it runs fine without the "Run (in Start Menu)" enabled but it still crashes when that option is checked. We can safely surmise that something there disagrees with my laptop's configuration. What now? Hope we can nail this little bug now:)
  2. Hi Davey, I had exactly the same problem (sorry I posted a new thread on 6-April-2008) starting from version 2.04 i think. The same error msg appears: Critical Error A critical error has occured in CCleaner, the application must now close. The thread attempted to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access CCleaner v2.06.567 MS Windows XP SP2 Intel Core2 Duo CPU T5470 @ 1.60GHz 2.0GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS Problem is strangely, i can't replicate the problem with my other computers. danielc
  3. 1. I had been using CCleaner from the days when it was a 500-600K download. Recently i think it has become a little bloated and starting with v.2.04 i started experiencing crashes. The program hangs when i tried to run it a second time after a RUN CLEANER operation or sometimes when i exit the program, this error msg appears: Critical Error A critical error has occured in CCleaner, the application must now close. The thread attempted to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access CCleaner v2.06.567 MS Windows XP SP2 Intel Core2 Duo CPU T5470 @ 1.60GHz 2.0GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS 2. I am not sure how it happened but CCleaner v.2.05 marked uninstall info for registry fixing. I was careless and hit the FIX button before realising that there was way too much fixes recommended and i lost (i had enabled secure deletion) the uninstall files for most of my software on my laptop. 3. Starting from v.2 CCleaner also has a bad habit of calling up IE while checking for updates when Firefox is my default browser.
