Here's my screen shot: Well, it won't copy in here for me. I'm sure it's me! I did save it to a Word document and will attach it. What I did to make IE work is the following: Click Start Start button , type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. Configure Selective Startup options 1. In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab. 2. Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box. Note The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable. 3. Click the Services tab. 4. Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box. 5. Click Disable All, and then click OK. 6. When you are prompted, click Restart. After I did that, it seemed to be working. I still need to start taking some things out to see if I can figure out what brings makes it have a problem again. But haven't had time to do that yet. screenshot.doc

I went to the page you gave me and I did some diagnostics and now my IE will clear out my temporary files, etc., without a problem. But CCleaner is still giving me the same error.

Thank you for that site. I will read up on it and see what it says. The funny thing is that I went into the safe mode and CCleaner popped right up on one try and cleaned everything off. Came back into my regular mode and got that same message again!

Did as you said, but still won't let me delete temporary internet files, cookies, etc., unless I do them manually. I think something is corrupt in that IE, but don't know if it will help my CCleaner. Any other ideas? I'm thinking about uninstalling IE and reinstalling. But don't know that it will get all the temporary files, etc. Not sure how the uninstall works. (as long as it doesn't touch my FireFox, I'm not sweating...yet)

Yes, that's how I'm doing it. It doesn't give me an error. Just sits there and looks like it's going to do it, but never does. And then when I try to cancel it because it's been spinning for several minutes, it won't respond. so have to do a control/alt/delete and close it down.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium and IE 8. It will not let me clean the cache and cookies, temporary internet files, etc. I wonder maybe I should just uninstall it and then try CCleaner and then download and reinstall a clean version. Do the cookies, temporary files, etc., come off automatically when you uninstall IE? I thought having to go into Windows Explorer and clean off those files last week was a one-time thing. I just don't ever use IE enough to mess with it. Any thoughts?

Well, it's been on 2% cleaning the temporary internet folders for IE for the past 10 minutes. I'll keep it going for a while, but don't think it's going to go anywhere.

Hi, the culpret, I believe, is the cookies within Internet Explorer. They won't analyze and they won't clean. It just spins and spins and when I try to cancel it, it says CCleaner is not responding and it crashes. You know, I had a hard time cleaning the temporary files and cookies out of my Internet Explorer and it wouldn't do it within IE, I had to go to my Windows Explorer and do it last week. I hardly ever use IE unless I absolutely have to, so don't mess with it too much. It will analyze IE's temporary internet folders and I''m cleaning it out right now. Any ideas? I tried unchecking "cookies" within the options on Internet Explorer and it still gave me that error trying to enter CCleaner.

None of the versions work, I get that same error "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk2\DR2." But a couple of strange things have happened. I downloaded the very newest version 2.29 (after trying several of the older ones) and now I still get that same error, but there are times I only have to click it one time before it lets me in. Before I had to click it about 6 times repeatedly each time and then it would let me in. The other strange thing is, after I got in, I went into my "options" and there's several choices on the left and one of them is "cookies." I click the "cookies" tab and I get the exact same error and that's the only place it happens. Any thoughts from anyone? I use FireFox as my default browser. And I just checked and it still says it's my default browser. Thank you. Shirley

Thank you for your reply. I can try restoring my registry fixes and see if that works. But I have no other issues and I think reinstalling my Windows would be a last and final option. I've done a virus scan with Zone Alarm and Prevx and I'm clean. Plus I did two malware/spyware scans and all I had was a few cookies and got rid of them. I'll keep at it. Thank you.

I am downloading versins 2.27 and see how that does and will let you know. No, I am not having any other problems with my computer. Everything seems to be working okay. Did total virus scan and malware scans (two of them) and nothing but cookies showed up, which I got rid of. Will let you know if I can get a version to work. Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestions. Nothing has gone wrong with my system that I know of. But I did go into the Run/services.msc and checked the Virtual Disk and it has nothing under "status" and under "startup type" it has "manual." Under Log on as, it has "local system." I even uninstalled CCleaner and reinstalled it. Same problem.

I'm on Windows 7 and downloaded the new version of CCleaner 2.28.1091 and I am getting an error, "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk2\DR2. If I click "continue" about 8 times, the program comes up and works fine. I do not have anything clicked in my registry. I saw in here where someone said to unclick everything in the registry. So I made sure everything was unchecked in there. Also, when I use the "update" on CCleaner, it automatically uses Internet Explorer and my default browser is FireFox. Anything I can do to fix that?
