Now some business/IT department is accusing it of being a malware and even firing someone over installing when clearly it is NOT malware.
something like that i have heard from a microsoft support employee ...
"something like CCleaner had no business being on a microsoft computer and would do more harm than good ..." i can even imagine why given the close cooperation with such light-shy rabble/scum as NasSA and Co. --> private data is indeed worth gold (internet traces, search terms entered, document use...etc.) the same is true for companies - after deleting the "private data" activity can no longer be traced.

I believe in a company is in principle prohibited everything that is not allowed.
So also install third-party software on company computers, except a piece of software is explicitly permitted.
also an it-department will take ensure that a employee can not install third-party software --> in this case that's in fact by gross negligence on the part of the company.

with me almost all last updates / security updates are still not manually downloadable from the Microsoft Download Center side.
could it be that all these updates are not secure and this is why are not downloadable?(these are the first updates that are not available for a long time to manually download...)

got another question about windows 8.1 update related to this second last contribution ...
this was the folder after update from w8 to w8.1 on c:\
i have copied it to another partition for safety
--> can i take this folder to create my own "windows 8.1 64" dvd?
(an installation DVD is better than a recovery partition / DVD)
-
i use in this case w8.1 64 bit - yes, with admin rights.
i just found that the portable version 1.52 has no menu tab like "advanced -> Context Menu"...
the installed version 1.52 is from first install from older version, perhaps 1.48 or 1,49 and then the new version just installed above.
in xp sp3 these context menu points also disabled... with recuva 1.51

for windows xp and in my case with ff 34 or 35...:
--> open firefox --> extras/tools (i dont know how is it in english...) --> settings --> tab "extended" --> subtab "general/common" --> the 3rd point "system settings" --> tick "at the start check if Firefox is the default browser." and click on the button directly below one time --> ok
or in windows settings:
--> start --> program access and defaults --> user defined --> click the double arrow on the right side of the window --> "choose a standard browser" --> Mozilla Firefox --> ok
ps: I've read that you like to use the Google Chrome browser. of course you can always set this browser as your default browser. but that means that CC will look for an update on Google Chrome again ...
as an alternative you can simply open FF and googling piriform, then can you download the slim version also with ff. this would have the advantage that you have your default browser Google Chrome do not have to change.

as mta says
in ff 38.0.5 --> extra/tools (how is it in english version of ff...) --> settings
or in windows (in my case w8.1 with "classic shell" for startmenu as xp/vista or 7)
--> start --> system control/control panel --> standard programs --> set your default programs (as screenshot)
--> select firefox in the left column --> set the program as the default --> ok

- monsanto (an aggressive food company with genetically modified foods)
- standard and poors (by recommendation of this dubious company interest payments on states to rise or fall)

i dont have mac... but what is in "services"?

I now have not read everything, but understood when flying over that you used an SSD.
for ssd you dont need defrag necessarily. ssd is fast and no rotating parts as hdd. the access times on each cell should work relatively the same speed
try this option...uncheck this arrow
but with this option your SSD is of course no longer displayed in Defraggler.

I would be making the pagefile 512 min and 4096 max - you'll find it hardly ever goes above 512. in fact I did that to mine after advice from this forum, kept an eye (still do occasionally) on it and never see it go above 512meg.
currently allocated memory = recommended... why is so much space reserved for the page file (4 GB) on lap with 8GB RAM?

this are "fantastic pointed" infos...
interesting to note that yesterday an optional update removes ... since I'm glad that I have not downloaded it "accidentally" and installed
ps: and if you wonder ... today I have the wlancard activated and it shows me with a driver from microsoft in optional updates, thats why shows yesterday and today 7 optional updates instead of 8 optional updates
