hi fans, little info: 1.) I try to translate the original english text into german as exactly as possible, without adding or removing words. 2.) If the text is too long and thus confuses the visual style and the graphic specifications and buttons of ccleaner, i try a shorter translation that keeps the sense. 3.) here a description from windows online help from my w8.1 to the topic fastboot (called from me as softstart) german original: english: that means errors increases over the time - described by you with some problems in your first post (and also be me with my experiences on my pc with similar problems) i cant find the problem - also not with the task manager - no exceptional cpu-load, no unusual hdd-load, but the slow reaction with all kind of actions. only a restart solve this kind of problem on my w8.1. perhaps incorrect shortcuts accumulate over time that "shutdown" does not cleared. perhaps driver problems. but the restart brings the settings on default as it should work. what is "driver booster"? for what is this good? be careful when using driver update software. use only driver from the manufacturer...

If i may :-) i have a similar thing with w8.1 from time to time... in my case help a real newstart. with w8 and newer micosoft have with shutdown only a 'softstart' started. but the operation system needet from time to time a real newstart for some arrangements with the system- files. perhaps it would help also for your w10? :-)

another thing... have you ticked the option: "stop vss when defragmenting the ntfs volume"? settings -> options -> advanced -> the second from below...

on my w8.1 i used only 2-3 restore points, for my older ps´s with xp, vista or w7 i dont have used restore points and deactivated it. my settings for restore point i have reduced at 3 % of available hdd-space. my experience with restore points and systemrestore is not so good and i mean perhaps its not so usefull as i was thinking about it. and it gives more problems as it solved for me. the simplest way for your fragmentation: if you dont need the restore points that you actually have is -> delete all of it or deactivate it in the system settings -> after this, restart your pc. after the restart take a look with defraggler what is with your fragmentation as next -> reactivate your system restore points and create the first one with your pc-status at this moment. done

thanks for the pic... there seems to be 9 files with a size of 72,7 gb - as i can see most of them in the middle of your hdd... normally there is the pagefile.sys, perhaps the hipernation-file and most the system-volume-infos (system-restore-points) can you take a screenshot/pic after you click on the button "view files"? <--- there will be list the files that fragmented (the 9 big ones...) system-restore-points: ccleaner -> tools -> system restore how many points are listed/displayed? if more as 2 or 3... need you all of them? if not, delete some of the oldest ones. or if you dont need them, delete all of them. only the newest will be grayed and can stay.

what is with the disk management? can you right-click on the raw-drive? properties -> tools -> errorchecking (or how it named in english) can this work?

not ok. what files would nice to know... in the file list it should you show the fragmented files ... free space defrag dont defrag your hdd. how full is your hdd? have you a pic?

@RBMunkin i mean with this "pre-selection" of apps/progs there are less problems to clean of all kinds of os with different apps installed on pc´s and other hardware over the world- because one user would leave some personal settings on his system, the other user want a "optimal cleaning" and more privacy. a good way through the middle of nowhere - no :-) a good way through the middle of privacy and less or more junk :-) one tip: attention with cleaning-boxes for ccleaner -> custom clean -> advanced
