  1. OK, I thought they may have been flash cookies but now I know they're not.

I've accessed both those sites, and I get both cookies in CCleaner, so there's a reason why I get them and you don't:

It's late here in the UK, so I'll have a look at possibilities tomorrow unless one of the other guys has a fix for you in the meantime.

    :)

EDIT: This is with CCleaner 2.26.1050, and Firefox 3.5.3.

I can't tell you why, but after receiving your post, I was inspired. So I uninstalled CCleaner again, restarted, and reinstalled CCleaner. Now I am seeing them. Yeah!! Thanks, you rock. :)

  2. The only cookies which show up in my Firefox but not in CCleaner are the ones already in the "Cookies To Keep" window.

Which obviously isn't the reason in your case.

Try unchecking "Adobe Flash Player" in "CCleaner\Applications\Multimedia", and see if that retains your login details to whichever site it is.

If that works, post back and we'll see if we can isolate that particular cookie so as to keep cleaning over Flash Player stuff.

EDIT: The name of the cookie may help, which you can either post or pm me with, as we all like our privacy.

Dennis, I tried your fix and it did not keep any of my login details for any of the sites. Additionally, it didn't keep any of my other cookies. So for example, for tvguide.com, it does not remember my provider, or for harristeeter.com it does not remember my "home store." It used to be that I could see all of my cookies within firefox and choose which ones I wanted to keep. Now, that is just not an option. :(

  3. Thank you for the welcome. I apologize for the delay in responding. For whatever reason, I never received an e-mail saying I received a response. To answer your question, I would say this.

    1. I never "upgrade" by OS per se. I actually bought a new laptop that had Windows 7 on it. So that is how I upgraded. So I never uninstalled and reinstalled, because it was a clean install from the beginning.

    2. I am currently running CCleaner 2.26.1050.

    3. I tried to uninstall CCleaner, rebooted, and then reinstalled, but the problem still exists.

Thanks again for all of your help!

I apologize for posting again, but does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? It is getting to the point that I am considering not using CCleaner. Thanks.

  4. Welcome to the forums! You will find this is a pretty friendly place, we do have our opinions, but for the most part we all get along pretty well and if one of us can not find an answer for you, someone else probably will.

I have a couple of questions, first did you reinstall CCleaner after the OS upgrade? Did you do a "Clean Install" where you wipe out the contents of your hard drive and then install Windows and then your programs? If you just did an "In Place" upgrade, where Vista is already running and you just put in the disc and let it do the upgrade and all of your programs are still there, try reinstalling CCleaner anyway. If that does not work, I would uninstall CCleaner completely removing the program directory for CCleaner too, then try reinstalling it.

Also what version of CCleaner are you using?

Let us know what you find.

One of the mods will need to delete your duplicate post in "CCleaner Discussion".

  5. I posted this in the general forum, but then I saw this forum.

I have run CCleaner on Windows XP and Vista and did not have a problem. I recently updated my OS to Windows 7 and now when I go into CCleaner, it provides the ability to not delete certain cookies, but it does not list Firefox's cookies. In other words, the only cookies that are listed as "safe" are those from Internet Explorer, which is my secondary browser. I know this for several reasons, including the list of cookies that is displayed within Firefox. With that said, when I run CCleaner, it deletes all of Firefox's cookies. I have no problem if it deletes some of the cookies, but certain cookies would be nice to keep around. Any suggestions?
