  1. I remember several previous versions of defraggler offering a slim version where you didn't have to say no the toolbar or as it is now chrome. Does anyone know if piriform is going to bring this back? I see that CCleaner still has a slim version available without the toolbar but not defraggler.

  2. Do you still have the Windows minidump file?

No I don't have the minidump file. But I have a Virtual Machine I can test it in to get another one.

Unnecessary remarks removed by moderator. Please keep on topic Mr Don.

Have you by chance tried the compatibility mode to test it in?

Right click on Defraggler & choose properties.

Go to compatibility tab & choose an older OS like Vista or XP & click ok.

Also, try running it in safe mode to eliminate the possibility that a program/setting/malware may be causing interferance.

Press f8 key on reboot till safe mode option comes up.

Post back if it runs in safe mode.

Compatibility mode would only work when it is running in the native windows environment. It wopuld have no affect on the pre-boot defragmentation of a hard-drive since windows doesn't load. Same thing for the safe mode this wouldn't affect the pre-boot defrag either.

  3. I am Currently running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Edition with latest updates and patches.

I downloaded Version 2 Beta and tried the defrag on boot option and recieved a Blue Screen O'Death.

I will post later with the error number but as a heads up to other Windows 7 Users try on a virtual machine or something first.

  4. Spacesniffer

[brief product description Latest release is 1.1.2.0

SpaceSniffer is a freeWare (donations are welcome) and portable tool application that lets you understand how folders and files are structured on your disks. By using a Treemap visualization layout, you have immediate perception of where big folders and files are placed on your devices. Treemap concept was invented by Prof. Ben Shneiderman, who kindly permitted the use of his concept into this tool.] From Site.

Definitely a great program to find whats taking up room on your hard drive. Just download and unzip. It is self launching and requires no installation.

  5. How are you uncompressing it, standard installing or are you doing something different? Seven_Eleven is correct in trying to download from the builds page. It may help to tell us your operating system and exactly what you are doing otherwise you will not be able to get any more help than already given.

  6.

Thanks for the hint, Panda, but it's checked for sure. Funny, because CC will dump the contents of my CryptnetUrlCache folders just fine, and will even report what was cleaned with a right-click. But the others (Yahoo Messenger Profiles and Unzipped) just aren't touched at all.

One thing that is strange, however: when I click Add to browse to folders I want to clean, I get an error message from CC, telling me that SHFOLDER.dll didn't load. But after that message appears once, it doesn't come back, and folders are added to the list nonethelesspost-28024-127690622074_thumb.jpg(see attachment).

Well it could be because your running Microsoft Vista Home Premium but i don't know for sure. Did you try uninstalling CCleaner and reinstalling? That may help.

  7. Here is a registry patch for the local computer to allow CCleaner to run on all user accounts.

Launch Regedit by launching the run command and typing regedit.

Navigate to the following key location:

    HKey_Local_Machine\software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run

Right Click in the right hand window & create a New STRING Value,

    Call it CCLeaner

Double click on the new CCleaner string and put in the following value:

    C:\program files\ccleaner\ccleaner.exe /auto

(Note: space between exe and /auto)

    I hope this helps.
