  1. And what makes this different from ad-aware 2008, spybot or AVG anti-spyware?
  2. Or perhaps a new programme entirely?
  3. Firefox RC1 is still a beta so of course its going to have flaws. And there's nothing special in opera that firefox hasn't got IMO.
  4. Ad-aware 2007 was a major disappointment. It has turned into bloatware, and I only hope that 2008 will be an improvement.

    CCleaner 3.x?

With Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 already being touted, and firefox 4.0 already out with an improved engine, I was wondering what developments, if any, were being made to CCleaner. Thanks
  6. I can't wait for this. The new kernal update sounds interesting. I bet all of you that brought vista are licking your Lips Meh, SP-2 has been great for me. Never any problems with it, unless I messed something up, but that was my fault...
  7. I have Windows XP home edition and used the first one which had .dll
  8. Im confused. What file extension do you need?
  9. Apparently the next version fixes the lag: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=18375 The direct download link: http://www.safer-networking.org/file...8-79-84-85.zip (Version 1.5.1.16 posted by Raman in above topic)
  10. There is an option to create a msn account when you use msn explorer. Thats how I made my msn account.
  11. Aw man, I added the .dll one! How do I fix this? Do I need to delete the folder?? Argh
  12. I remember using an Ashampoo product years ago and it messed up my PC. Regardless of what it says on the tin, I will never go anywhere near their products again...
  13. I think there are still some bugs with CCleaner. Although the temporary file cleaning is slower, the scan of the registry is much quicker and by far more effective then before. I don't get any repeated values anymore.
  14. I'm not greatly impressed with version 1.5 either. Its definitely slower than 1.4. And all this business about having to manually delete backup HOSTs files sounds annoying...
  15. I use EasyCleaner. I have never ever had any problems with it, and it does the job.
  16. Well considering it comes with a yahoo toolbar, I guess yahoo does? There will probably be a slim version available, when it comes out of beta.
  17. Meh, NoScript is a very popular add-on and one which is recommended by Mozilla. I doubt it has any malware in it. Just make sure you download everything from official sites.
  18. It looks so cool, I'm using it now!
  19. Don't use CAP locks in your posts, it just makes the post harder to read. There is a guide from Microsoft on how to delete system restore points that have been created in the past: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/h...ps/mcgill1.mspx
  20. Instead of letting AVG control java scripts, why not get the add-on for firefox called Quick Java: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1237?id=1237 It lets you enable/disable javascript and java very quickly just from the toolbar at the bottom of your browser.
  21. Yes, I too was wondering why this could not be implemented. I guess that the idea of CCleaner is to remove files from your computer, and this does not fit in with recuva where the idea is to try and find something from your computer. With two products that have two different objectives, I guess it does not make sense to make them into one whole product.
  22. Same here. This is a very useful tool indeed!! Maybe it can be an add-on to CCleaner?
  23. I agree. Windows XP SP-2 on its own, is probably not as secure as Vista, but with various programmes like AVG, a firewall and firefox for example, it can be very secure for the average home user. I think Microsoft still don't provide decent security in their systems. They till do not provide an anti-virus product for consumers, and they had to buy an anti-malware product from GIANT (although they made it very good), I can't help but see some laziness there.
  24. In the UK, a 250GB HD is still quite a lot. Most, if not all PCs sold now though, come with 512MB minimum RAM, so 1GB RAM is excellent, especially if someone wants to upgrade onto Vista with it. Most computers come with DVD/RW, so the CD/RW is a bit outdated, but still a good company (I have the same one ). No idea about the graphics card or processing chip. A 19 inch monitor will probably be around ?100. I reckon you could get maybe ?400 but thats a very rough estimate.
