Also check to see that the "wipe free space" options weren't enabled. I just did an install on a older Compaq laptop and experienced it hanging at 27%. Found out it wasn't hanging, just took a while for CCleaner to wipe the free space.

I should add that I do have Adobe Flash Player selected under the Cleaner/Applications tab.

I've downloaded the latest release (v2.35.1223) and noticed that cookies still remain in the Options/Cookies list. Specifically cookies from msnbc.msn.com remain after cleaning. The cookies are gone after I reboot the system though. Is it possible they are ghost listings of cookies that were deleted? System: Windows XP Pro and with Internet Explorer 8.

Thanks for your response Alan. I spent some time this morning doing a little Googling on the topic and found my problem is not uncommon when dual booting XP with Vista. Microsoft recommends a registry tweak for XP that basically hides the Vista partition from XP so no deletion of the Vista Restore points can occur. I kind of like the ability to access both partitions from either OS so I think I will just image the Vista partition from time to time. Some day if I start using Vista more maybe then I will consider the XP registry tweak Since the problem can also effect Windows 7 when dual booted with XP, I have listed a link below to Microsoft's fix for future reference for those that come across this posting. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926185

Looks like I may have spoken too soon...... While playing around with the Recycle Bin option I decided to disable CCleaner from loading at boot altogether in Windows XP. I found that XP was still deleting the Vista Restore point so the problem must lie elsewhere. Sorry for sounding any false alarms about this great product.

Background...... I've got a dual boot system with Windows XP Pro SP3 and Vista Business SP2. Both are the 32 bit OS and I'm using CCleaner v2.23.993 with each. CCleaner is set to run at startup and then close with both OSes. CCleaner options are set identical in both OSes. Each OS is setup on it's own partition with XP being the default OS. Problem..... when the computer is booted to XP, CCleaner will delete the Restore points for Vista. The XP Restore points are NOT deletect. When booting to Vista there is NO problem with Restore point deletion with either OS. Only when booting into XP will CCleaner delete the Vista Restore points. I was wondering if this is a bug with CCleaner? In searching the forums a minute ago I saw references to Restore deletion problems, but not like I am experiencing. I do have the Recycle Bins set to be cleaned with CCleaner at boot and I will try disabling that option to see if it eliminates the problem although I like the cleaning of bins. Since some of the postings I searched on were old, I thought I would check to see if there has been any updates to the problem. TIA
