  1. Thanks hazelnut and dvdbane for the heads up. V5 is so diff from v4 I'll suspend aid until installing it after the paint dries.
  2. After analysis is complete, to delete all of the items listed click on Run Cleaner in lower right corner. You may also delete items individually — right-click an item and clean.
  3. Aborting wipe prevents CC from deleting the cache. If rebooting computer does not retrieve the lost space, delete this folder or file . . .
  4. @kwwillert — OK, thanks for the correction. Speccy errs cos CPU is actually 25.6ºC / 78ºF as reported by two other programs. Happy Holidays to you and yours. Danke für die Korrektur. Speccy irrt, weil CPU 25.6ºC ist / 78ºF als berichtet von zwei anderen Programmen. Erholsame Ferien für Sie.
  5. Hallo kwwillert. I don't quite understand your issue, except that I notice your cpu is operating at 4ºC above its max rated temperature of 74ºC. Check if the cpu cooling fan has failed.
  6. A guide to using Defraggler . . http://www.piriform.com/docs/defraggler The File Defrag is very fast. Tick ☑ Filename and click Defrag Checked. and this defrags the PagingFile . .
  7. Thanks for starting the subject; I'll share my scant experience. Maybe others will provide more insight. Several years ago I tried the benchmark a few times and as best I can recall it seemed that the score depended on the amount of fragmentation. I got a low number while fragged, a higher number after file defrag, and a still higher number after full (partition) defrag. I guess it measures the drive's access speed. The more seeking that's required, the longer it takes to retrieve files and so the lower the score. So it's all about overall drive health and fragmentation.
  8. Is the Lap on wifi while the pc is on LAN?
  9. RAM speed is not determined by the number of modules, but by doubling the lowest rated DDR module in the set. If you removed one module you would still have an effective transfer rate of 1333 MHz cos of the doubling rate of DDR modules, which transfer data on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal.
  10. Even though you don't use IE, these are from IE and other programs using the Trident layout engine.
  11. That's the wipe cache. Usually rebooting computer will delete the file. If not, run Unlocker.
  12. Not a bug. Your Double Data Rate 665 MHz modules transfer data at ~1330 MHz. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_data_rate
  13. Speed up defrag by defragging only the files. Tick ☑ Filename and click Defrag Checked. My 1TB HDD is repartitioned so that (C:) is less then 100 GB, takes scant time to fully defrag and wipe. The unallocated space is used to create volumes that rarely need defragging or wiping. My prevailing method for repartitioning: 1. Have Windows disable and delete all restore points. 2. Defrag OS(C:) to migrate the files toward the beginning of the disk. 3. Shrink that OS(C:) drive to 100-200GB. 4. Enable System Restore and create a restore point on OS(C:).
  14. For all files in Recycle Bin to be cleaned, ensure . . . Options\ Advanced\ untick ☐ Only delete files in Recycle Bin older than 24 hours
  15. Did you check for disk errors? . . . http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Check-your-hard-disk-for-errors
  16. Likely not your error. Members are reporting many issues with v5. I'm staying with v4.17 until the bugs are stomped.
  17. Run System File Checker . . . http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2231/run_system_file_checker/
  18. I would eliminate the possibility of a defective CC by uninstalling it completely, then reinstall. My Vista x86 and Win7 x64 are running CC 4.17 without issues. http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/history

  21. Possibly others know what it may be, not I. But you can disable the item if it's also in CCleaner\ Tools\ Startup\ Scheduled Tasks.
