  1. The folder in "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" tends to get pretty filled up and is really unnecessary. It's the folder where Windows Update downloads all the updates to and extracts them there. Once the updates have been successfully installed, the installation files are pointless to keep. Now, I understand cleaning the folder can ruin in-progress paused downloads that some people might need to resume, but maybe CCleaner could detect it's "Date modified" or "Date created" values on the files and folders inside the "Download folder". What do you guys think?

    Codec Packs

I've used K-Lite Mega Codec Pack for a long time, but then I switched to VLC Media Player for files Windows Media Player won't play. I haven't tried Vista Codec Pack, but I can recommend K-Lite.
  3. Yeah try installing the update by downloading the full file version. Here's the link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

    Vista

I've recently upgraded to Windows Vista (64bit) and I must say I love it! I've always had friends and family saying that it always crashes and sucks up alot of memory...which is true :/ But I've only had it crash once (BSOD) but I think that was my fault.... It has alot of very nice things, and alot of useless things. One of my favourite is the new search features, which you have been talking about, its very easy to use. Another is the Windows Update being integrated right into the control panel. So no more web-based updates. Once you tweak it to your liking, there's a good chance you won't switch back to XP.
  5. Hi formfrank84, I myself am a HP Notebook PC owner (G60-238CA) First of all I'm assuming that your Notebook PC is the 6730b If it isn't, please give the exact model for your Notebook. You will find your answer with the memory upgrades here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechS...odTypeId=321957 Although I must comment, a 32-bit Operating system will almost never be able to completely utilize the 4GB of ram that it can see, anything above 4GB will be completely unused by the OS. A 64-bit OS can utilize.....ALOT of memory. HP mostly ships their PC's with 32-bit versions of Windows Vista. So you'll only be able to install 4GB of ram, and only USE 3GB-3.9GB (One extreme to the other.) I don't believe you can upgrade the video card...you can ask HP if you want though.
  6. Fluffy, I found two articles that might fix your problem: First try this one: http://www.tech-archive.net/Archive/Window...5/msg00709.html If that fails, try this one: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913754 Both suggestions require registry editing, so be very careful.
  7. Try cleaning out the windows update download folder. Delete everything in this folder: "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" If you had originally downloaded it the first time and it came up with the error, it may have been because of a bad download (Corruption) and every other time you try to install it, the update service will try to install the already downloaded one which might be corrupt. Try it anyways, whenever I get a Windows Update error this always works.
