  1. IE7 Cookie issue is still there - CCLeaner is still deleting cookies I have told it to save.

Specifically, IE7 is storing cookies in two places -

    C:\documents and settings\username\cookies and

    C:\documents and settings\username\local settings\temporary internet files

CCleaner leaves them in the first but wipes them out of the second along with all the other temp files. IE7 loses the information in the cookie if the cookies in the temp folder are deleted.

    Yup!

    It deletes my WANTED cookies!

  2. All interaction with spammer/scammer friendly 'cause its Frea (spammer lingo for Free) gmail is blocked agressively by me.

The USENET is rampent with these spammer/scammers as they can create an account faster than anyone can say "Pass the ketchup for my chickenbone KFC ALL White $14.99 chicken breast supersized for one truck totin tub that can be used to go fishin' in with Billy Jo Bob down at the ol' fishin' hole."

  3. The Eraser can't be beat :)

Eraser is an advanced security tool (for Windows), which allows you to completely remove sensitive data from your hard drive by overwriting it several times with carefully selected patterns. Works with Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP and DOS.

Eraser is Free software and its source code is released under GNU General Public License.

  4. I would not trust driver updates from Microsoft especially for modems.

    They are VERY fussy devices.

I would only trust the driver from the modem manufacturer.

Insure you get the correct driver for the operating system. :)

  5. It is best if you get a router as it has several advantages.

    * Off loads the task of ignoring rogue packets thus not impacting system performance

    * Can be set to keep the connection alive automatically

    * Provides an additional layer of protection by isolating the system

A router can be had for almost free with rebates.

I'm using a SMC7004VBR router that I purchased for $40.00 a couple of years ago and I feel it was the best investment that I have made.
