  1. From my experience, defragging free space doesn't do anything in the first place. The few times I've run it, it's done in like five seconds and nothing changes. I don't know, but it appears to me that Defraggler "optimizes" as part of its standard defrag including the free space. Anyone know for sure about this?
  2. I used Iobit Smart Defrag for about six months. At first the optimize feature worked pretty good, but gradually it quit doing its job and eventually stopped optimizing altogether. I don't know about the future of Defraggler, but from what I can tell, it optimizes as part of its standard defrag. I could be mistaken, but it looks that way to me. Defraggler also lets you move large files to the end of the drive, which Smart Defrag can't do (at least I couldn't figure out how to). I think my overall performance has been better with Defraggler too.
  3. Ahh, found a previous post with the answer. They were cookies added by Flash Player. Selecting Adobe Flash Player in Multimedia got rid of them.
  4. In Options>Cookies there is a list of cookies to Delete, but when I delete all cookies from Internet Explorer, Firefox and Navigator they are still in the list. Shouldn't they delete, or is there something I'm missing? Could they be lurking somewhere I'm not aware of? Appreciate some help.
  5. Just downloaded the new version 2.21 and it's working. Those options are still unchecked by default but now when I check them they work. Excellent!
  6. It's like they're dead. I can't check them or uncheck them. You can see them, but they're dead.
  7. Howdy folks. I just installed CCleaner 2.20.920 and have been looking through some of the Cleaning options. Under "Windows" all of the Advanced options are grayed out and the last three of the System options are also grayed out so I can't use them. Does anyone know if there's a simple reason for this? I have Vista Home Basic SP1. Thanks!
  8. Thanks Mike. It sounds like Defraggler is doing its job, Vista just makes a lot of stuff off limits.
  9. By default Vista's defragger only recognizes files 64M or smaller. Anyone know if Defraggler is constrained by this limitation or does it defrag everything? Sorry if this has already been answered. I've read a lot of technical stuff the past couple of days.
  10. After running the Defraggler a couple of times there are still large areas of fragmentation (red) on the drive map. When I try to select only those files and defrag them they won't defrag. Anyone have any ideas what might be going on? I have Vista SP1.
  11. Hi all. I downloaded Defraggler yesterday and have run it a couple of times. So far it seems to be a lot better than the other freeware I've tried. The Website is especially good as far as Help and Support goes. But I do have a few questions. For one, I've read that defragging is supposed to do a better job if you run it in Safe Mode. Does anyone know if this is actually the case?
