  1. I have just installed CCleaner Pro v 6.21.10918 and it looks like the problem has been fixed -- Opera history and cookies are cleaned. Yeah!
  2. I have just installed CCleaner Pro v 6.21.10918 and it looks like the problem has been fixed -- Opera history and cookies are cleaned. Yeah!
  3. The following screenshot highlights/illustrates the issue -- CCleaner doesn't even "see"--let alone clean--Opera cookies. The "Cookies on Computer" list is essentially empty despite the fact that I have more than 500 entries under "Settings/Cookies/See all site data and permissions" in Opera. And that number is the same before and after cleaning. The only conclusion is that CCleaner is still pointing to the wrong location for Opera cookies--and Browsing History and probably other information that should be cleaned.
  4. I just updated CCleaner to v 6.20.10897 and still no fix.
  5. I'm so pleased to hear that, Laurence. Have you had any feedback yet from dev team? Do they acknowledge that there is an issue with cleaning Opera and, if so, how long it will take to produce a fix? (In my last communication with the CCleaner Help desk on November 29, and assuming the issue was out of scope for them, I asked them to pass it on to Piriform developers and report back. I'm still waiting for a response!) Warwick
  6. Thanks nukecad. Of course you are correct that CCleaner has to close Opera to clean it so syncing is a possible complication. Anyway I have now run “Clear browsing data” from within Opera with all options selected—history and cookies list were empty as a result--then turned syncing off and also logged off from Opera.com. I then browsed a number of sites to build a history and get some cookies. After running CCleaner--Opera components flashed up on the progress screen during the run--the history and cookies were still there and unchanged. (I use Macrium Reflect to back up my Opera profile each day so I have been able to recover all my settings.) On 14 Dec I reported my test of deleting the “..\Network” folder to the CCleaner help desk. I'm still awaiting an acknowledgement/response. Previously, as part of investigating this issue, I also uninstalled and re-installed Opera but that didn’t do any good. Warwick PS I do like your location and Interests. Here in Sydney it's quite warm at present.
  7. At present I have synchronisation turned off. Even so, I’m not sure that would be the answer. As I understand it, sync works the other way around -- if you change Opera locally, either manually or with CCleaner, then that new configuration is pushed up to the cloud. When I run CCleaner the progress screen appears to show that it is “cleaning” Opera -- messages flash momentarily for Opera Cache, Opera History and Opera Cookies and other Opera components but it no longer spends time showing progress as it cleans relevant files/folders the way it used to for Opera and still does for other apps. Also, the final cleaning results screen only ever has a line for Opera Cache and then only for a small number of files and KB. As I’ve said before, after cleaning I still have a list of over 500 cookies and full browsing history is also still there. As I interpret it, CCleaner is cleaning old locations but not current locations for Opera.
  8. The "Cookies on Computer" list is essentially empty and is the same irrespective of whether Opera is running or closed. At the same time there are still about 500 cookies listed under “Opera>Settings>Cookies and other site data>See all site data and permissions”, and running CCleaner doesn't affect that list.
  9. I now have the latest version of CCleaner Pro i.e v6.19.10858 and it still doesn't clean Opera cookies and browsing history and perhaps other components correctly. Previously I said that Opera currently stores cookies in the following folder: C:\Users\*Username*\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Default\Network That folder contains a file named “Cookies” but, apparently, Opera doesn’t store all cookie information in that file. As a test, I deleted the entire “..\Network” folder then launched Opera again. Opera re-created the folder, including a new “Cookies” file, and yet the hundreds of cookies in the “Opera>Settings>Cookies and other site data>See all site data and permissions” list are still there. Also, the “Cookies on Computer” panel in the CCleaner “Options>Cookies” screen is essentially empty even though there are hundreds of cookies in the “Opera>Settings>Cookies and other site data>See all site data and permissions” list. Whatever the case, CCleaner is not cleaning Opera cookies and other components of browsing history as it should.
  10. I have the same issue and first raised it with the CCleaner help desk on 9 November. They have been singularly unhelpful initially suggesting reverting to default settings (which didn't work) then, more recently, after saying that they "fully understand [my] situation" referring me to the process for setting up "Cookies to Keep" which has no relationship the problem. I responded to that suggestion on 29 November and am still awaiting a reply. Poor service by any measure. What clearer illustration can you have of the flaws of outsourcing your help function to a call centre in the Philippines. I've searched unsuccessfully for contact details for CCleaner/Piriform in the UK. Warwick
  11. Same here. I've noticed this problem when running CCleaner on recent versions of Opera including the latest i.e. v104.0.4944.54. (It also fails to clean the "History>recently closed" list.) The latest version of CCleaner Pro i.e. v6.18.10824 (64 bit), still doesn't clean Opera cookies or "History>recently closed". It seems that Opera may have changed the location where cookies are stored. After some searching I have found that Opera currently stores cookies in the following folder: C:\Users\*Username*\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Default\Network (See also https://allaboutcookies.org/what-is-a-cookie-file) I raised a ticket with CCleaner help desk--located in the Philippines no less!--and their suggestion was to "Restore default settings" in CCleaner. That didn't work. Warwick
  12. Thanks for that. I was pretty sure that was the case but thought I would seek confirmation -- just to be sure.
  13. I use Macrium Reflect 8 to back up my system. I have included the following command at the beginning the VB Script that runs one of my backup jobs: “”objShell.Run """C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe"" /auto" That is, CCleaner is run before the actual backup starts. My question is, when CCleaner is run in this way (or by command line), how does it treat applications, such as a browser, that may be open when the command is run? Does it actually clean such open applications or skip them? (I note that when CClearner is run “normally” and an application that it is set to clean, such as a browser, is open, it will offer the user the option of shutting that application down.)
  14. Hi: Recuva is a great little program. It has helped me out on several occasions and I recommended it to a friend who had a problem and it saved him too! A suggestion -- in advanced mode when you want to specify a "Filename or Path" could you provide an option where the user can navigate to the folder location instead of having to type it in? Also it would help if the placeholder for the Path was a bit wider so that the user can see more of the Path. Warwick T
  15. Hi: Three times I have tried a deep scan with Recuva v1.27.419 on my C: drive and each time get a Blue Screen of Death part way through the scan. WhoCrashed produces the following analysis of the dump file: This was likely caused by the following module: ntkrnlpa.exe Bugcheck code: 0x50 (0x80000015, 0x0, 0x805BCF14, 0x0) Error: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA file path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe product: Microsoft? Windows? Operating System company: Microsoft Corporation description: NT Kernel & System The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Likely the culprit is another driver on your system which cannot be identified. I am running Win XP, SP3 on a Dell Pentium 4, 3Ghz, 1GB RAM Any ideas? Warwick T
