My sister has a dell laptop. Its a Inspiron E1405. When she turns the computer on, she suddenly gets this error saying generic host encountered an error. Right away, I checked the Event Viewer and found this error. Faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module msi.dll, version 3.1.4000.2435, fault address 0x00012780. Type: Error Source: Application Error Category: (100) Event ID: 1000 Any solutions for this?

I just bought a linksys wireless router WRT54GS! This is my first time though. Once I set up the router, I can use it from my laptop right? It has a wireless card builtin already. Now, I don't mean using the laptop while the ethernet wires are plugged into my laptop's jack. I will use it from my living room and the desktop is in my room. Also, how can i protect and secure the router? So, no one steals my connection without me knowning about it. Thanks!
