  1. Hi nukecad: That for the heads up. Do you know if any of the Avast / Piriform employees are still monitoring the CCleaner Bug Reporting board and/or might respond to an @mention? I don't recall seeing seen a post in the forum by an employee for almost two months now, but I don't visit the forum on a daily basis. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3086 * Firefox v115.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23060.1005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.32.271-1.0.2051 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Free Portable v6.13.10517
  2. Hi redwolfe_98: Thanks for that hint. I didn't know an advanced configuration setting at "browser.bookmarks.max_backups" to control the maximum number of saved bookmark backups was even available in Firefox. I checked mine and the default setting is "15". ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3086 * Firefox v115.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium 4.5.32.271-1.0.2051 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Portable Free v6.13.10517
  3. ... or it's just another attempt by the Marketing Department to "encourage" CCleaner Free users to upgrade to CCleaner Pro (as if the system tray pop-ups nagging us to purchase a Pro license weren't enough). Here's the error message I see if choose Performance Optimizer on the new welcome screen, a feature that isn't included in my edition of CCleaner Free. This error message was originally discussed in my 08-Jul-2023 reply in AaronH's Why Has My CCleaner Suddenly Changed?. I would prefer to see the software devs spend more time fixing bugs like the one discussed in mogli's 15-Jun-2023 "Windows Defender Backup" Rule Not Working instead of making unnecessary changes to the user interface. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3086 * Firefox v115.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium 4.5.32.271-1.0.2051 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Portable Free v6.13.10517
  4. Hi CSGalloway: Sorry, if you want to ask a question in the Firefox support forum you'll have to register in that forum and post the question yourself. I don't even know your Windows OS, your Firefox browser version or the edition and version of CCleaner you use, and if anyone posted a follow-up question asking for more information I wouldn't know what to tell them. To summarize, I don't know of any way to recover old Firefox bookmark backups once you've purged them from your Firefox user profile with CCleaner unless you back up your personal data files in C:\Users\<yourusername>\ to an external backup drive on a regular basis or unless you recently created a new Firefox user profile and the bookmark backups still exist in your old Firefox user profile. I'm also not sure why you want to recover those backups when your current bookmarks are working fine. As I said before, you can manually create a backup of your current bookmarks any time you want (Bookmarks | Manage Bookmarks | Import & Backup | Backup and save the .json file in a safe location like a removable USB stick), and in a few days with regular use Firefox will start automatically saving bookmark backups again in the hidden C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<yourprofilename>.default-release\bookmarkbackups\ folder that you will be able to view at Bookmarks | Manage Bookmarks | Import & Backup | Restore. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3086 * Firefox v115.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium 4.5.32.271-1.0.2051 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Portable Free v6.13.10517
  5. Hi CSgalloway: Sorry, I don't understand what you would like me to do so you'll have to be more specific. What "support issue" and thread are you referring to? I'm not a forum moderator, just a regular CCleaner user like yourself , so I have no way of escalating your problem to an Avast / Piriform employee if that is what you want me to do. You past posts also indicate you also use the custom cleaning rules in the Winapp2.ini file, so your CCleaner app might behave very differently to my CCleaner Portable Free v6.13.10517. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3086 * Firefox v115.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium 4.5.32.271-1.0.2051 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Portable Free v6.13.10517
  6. Count me in as one of the "intolerants" who don't like this new startup screen. I use CCleaner Free Portable and only use the Custom Clean feature (I don't like all the unnecessary bloat like Health Check, Performance Optimizer, etc. that's been added to CCleaner in the past few years) so the only four files I keep after I unzip the latest ccsetup6xx.zip file are shown below. Note that ccleaner.ini is manually copied over from my previous CCleaner version to retain my custom settings. However, the new startup screen appears to be designed for the installed version of CCleaner Pro and throws an error if I select a feature in the Get More With CCleaner panel (e.g., Performance Optimizer, Disk Analyzer) that isn't included in my edition of CCleaner Free. I hope a new setting is eventually added to CCleaner so I can choose to skip this startup screen and go back to the original interface where I could immediately land on the Custom Clean window. There have been instances in the past where options were added and automatically enabled in Custom Clean without my permission (see my 07-Jun-2022 post in CCleaner 6.00.9727 keeps reporting Firefox cleaning? about how Custom Clean was automatically configured to purge my Firefox bookmark backups for one example) and this is much easier to catch if you land on the original interface and immediately see what options are checked before you click Analyze. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3086 * Firefox v115.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium 4.5.32.271-1.0.2051 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Portable Free v6.13.10517
  7. Hi CSGalloway: It might be helpful if you could tell us why you need to recover your Firefox bookmark backup. For example, are your current bookmarks corrupted, did they disappear after a Firefox refresh, or are you simply looking for an old bookmark for a website that was accidentally deleted? Not that I know of. I believe the places.sqlite file in your hidden Firefox user profile (C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<currentprofilename>.default-release\) contains your current bookmarks, downloads history and browsing history but does not contain any older bookmark backups. However, you might want to confirm that by posting your question in the Firefox support forum at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/desktop . If you allowed CCleaner to purge your Firefox Backups from your current Firefox user profile (i.e., if Custom Clean | Applications | Firefox | Bookmark Backups was checked in CCleaner) and you don't manually save the occasional backup of your bookmarks to a removable USB stick or some other safe location (Bookmarks | Manage Bookmarks | Import & Backup | Backup) then I don't know of any way to retrieve an old bookmark backup from your current Firefox user profile. Is there any chance that you perform regular backups of your user data to an external backup drive (I backup my entire C:\Users\<myusername>\ folder at least once a week with Karen's Replicator and create the occasional full disk image with Macrium Reflect Free) that you could use to extract your bookmark backups? If you recently created a new Firefox user profile (e.g., if you went to Help | More Troubleshooting Information and clicked the Refresh Firefox button) your old profile should still exist in C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ and you might also be able to recover your bookmark backups from that old profile. You can use the Firefox Profile Manager to start Firefox with a different user profile if one exists. _________________________________________ Just an aside, but I no longer allow CCleaner to perform any cleaning of my Firefox browser since a bug in CCleaner v5.69 wiped custom settings of several browser extensions if it cleaned the Firefox Internet Cache (see circc's July 2020 Problem with Firefox 79 ). I now use Firefox's built-in settings (e.g., Tools | Settings | Privacy & Security | History | Clear history when Firefox closes | Settings) to manage all my Firefox cleaning. If Firefox is working correctly there shouldn't be any need to purge your bookmark backups in Firefox since Firefox will only keep the last 15 or so bookmark backups and will automatically purge older bookmark backups so the hiddden C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<yourprofilename>.default-release\bookmarkbackups\ folder doesn't grow beyond 15 or 20 MB - see my 24-Nov-2022 post in aboriqua's Firefox Bookmarks Backup?. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3086 * Firefox v115.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium 4.5.32.271-1.0.2051 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Portable Free v6.13.10517
  8. Hi CsGalloway: Are you Firefox bookmarks missing? If so go to View | Toolbars | Bookmarks Toolbar and make sure that Always Show is selected. Firefox should automatically create regular backups of your bookmarks every few days. Go to Bookmarks | Manage Bookmarks | Import & Backup | Restore and see if there is a recent backup file you can restore (see my Firefox v115 image below): If CCleaner deleted all your bookmark backups and you need to restore your bookmarks you may be able to recover the places.sqlite file from your Firefox user profile. See the Mozilla support article Recover Lost or Missing Bookmarks and Recovering Important Data From an Old Profile. Note that I save a copy of my Firefox bookmarks (Bookmarks | Manage Bookmarks | Import & Backup | Backup) to a removable USB stick about once a week just in case disaster ever strikes. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3086 * Firefox v115.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium 4.5.32.271-1.0.2051 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Portable Free v6.13.10517
  9. Hi kubinec12: I'm afraid someone else will have to test for you. I'm currently tracking a bug in my Win 10 OS (see my 30-May-2023 post # 2562880 in Event 2545 Device Management – Enterprise – Diagnostics – Provider in the AskWoody forum) and don't want to remove these Event ID 2545 logs from my Event Viewer. I do not clean my Event Viewer logs on a regular basis. I'm not short of free disk space and when these event logs reach a maximum size the oldest entries should be deleted to make room for newer ones. There have been several occasions where I was able to trace the date/time an error when first appeared on my system and I sometimes find that older event logs can be quite useful for troubleshooting. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3086 * Firefox v115.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium 4.5.32.271-1.0.2051 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Portable Free v6.13.10517
  10. I don't know if @Dave CCleaner or any of the other Avast/Piriform employees are following this thread but it might make sense to move it to the CCleaner Bug Reporting board at https://community.ccleaner.com/forum/8-ccleaner-bug-reporting/ since the new Windows Defender Backup cleaning doesn't work as expected (i.e., it throws a "File Access Denied" error when it attempts to clean the protected C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\WindowsDefender\Definition Updates\Backup folder). ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3086 * Firefox v115.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.32.271-1.0.2051 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Free Portable v6.13.10517
  11. Hi mogli: Thanks for reporting this. The Sept 2020 github thread at Persistent Error When Deleting (Windows Defender Backups) would suggest that BleachBit developers also tried to incorporate a similar cleanup of MS Defender backup files into their disk cleaning software but ultimately removed that option because because they believed the deletion of these backup files was being blocked by Microsoft Defender's tamper protection self-protection module. However, they must have found a workaround because I just tested BleachBit Portable v4.4.2 (Preview mode only - I didn't actually proceed with the clean) on my Win 10 laptop and 278 MB / 10 files in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\WindowsDefender\Definition Updates\Backup were marked for deletion. I use Microsoft Defender for my real-time antivirus protection on my Win 10 machine and can use the built-in Disk Cleanup utility at Windows Administrative Tools | Disk Cleanup | Clean Up System Files | Microsoft Defender Antivirus to safely purge any "non-critical" Microsoft Defender files. However, Disk Cleaner shows that there are currently only about 12 MB of "non-critical" MS Defender files on my hard drive ... ... and Disk Cleaner doesn't appear to touch any of the 262 MB / 8 files of files in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\WindowsDefender\Definition Updates\Backup shown below that CCleaner v6.13 is failing to clean.** ** Note that CCleaner detects 2 fewer MS Defender backup files than BleachBit I'm not sure why Piriform / Avast thought it was a good idea to add routine cleaning of these Microsoft Defender definition update backups to CCleaner when Microsoft clearly doesn't think it's a good idea, unless they're just trying to mimic what BleachBit is doing. If Avast / Piriform is going to fix this cleaning rule so it works as expected (which would likely require temporary disabling of Microsoft Defender tamper protection, which sounds like a terrible idea) they should at least move this new option under Custom Clean | Windows | Advanced (i.e, instead of under System) just to warn users that this type of cleaning should not be done on a routine basis. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3086 * Firefox v114.0.2 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.31.270-1.0.2047 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Free Portable v6.13.10517 * BleachBit Portable v4.4.2
  12. Hi kubinec12: Just a thought, but if the CCleaner setting at Options | Advanced | Only Delete Files in Windows Temp Folders Older Than 24 Hours is ENABLED (the default) then perhaps the cleaning rules that apply to Windows temporary files also apply to log entries in Event Viewer. Are the log entries in your Event Viewer that are not cleaned always less than 24 hours old? ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3086 * Firefox v114.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.31.270-1.0.2047 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Portable Free v6.13.10517
  13. Hi markfeener: Your images show a lack of free disk space, not free memory (RAM), although that might also be a problem if you have a faulty RAM module on your motherboard. The first thing you should do is use the TreeSize Free utility to check all the directory sizes on your hard drive and see which folders are using the most disk space. TreeSize Free is basically like "File Explorer on steroids" and allows you to view the contents of hidden and protected folders that might not be visible in File Explorer. Install JAM Software's TreeSize Free utility (available at https://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free) .*** Launch TreeSize Free and click the "Run TreeSize Free as Administrator" button on the Home tab of the toolbar. Note that this button does not appear on my image below because I have enabled "Always Start This Application as Administrator" on the Options tab. Go to Home | Select Directory and then browse to the root of C:\ drive. Sort the Size column from largest to smallest to see which folders are using the highest amount of disk space. You can expand each folder and drill down to see the disk space used by each subfolder and file. *** I prefer to use the Portable edition of TreeSize Free (TreeSizeFree-Portable.zip available <here>). Just save and unzip the .ZIP in any location (I unzip in a folder I created on a removable USB thumb drive called D:\TreeSize ) and double-click TreeSizeFree.exe to launch. See priyakansal's TreeSize Free image in their 28-Jun-2022 thread 15 R4, SA Generating 150GB Log Files showing that their hidden, protected C:\ProgramData\Dell\SARemediation folder of their Alienware 15 R4 had grown to over 145 GB. This sometimes happens when Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery v5.5.5.x (also known as Dell SupportAssist Remediation or Dell System Repair) is installed. This is the folder where Dell SupportAssist Remediation stores system repairs points (also known as system snapshots) and this folder should not grow more than ~ 15 GB to 20 GB in size, but on some Dell computers older system repair points are not purged when the maximum folder size is reached and this folder can grow to more than 200 GB in size. I'm not saying that a similar bug in a Dell / Alienware program is responsible for your lack of disk space - for all I know you might store a huge number of large music and photos / video files in your C:\Users\<yourusername> folder that takes up lots of disk space - but TreeSize Free should at least tell you what folders are using the most disk space. I have a 250 GB SSD in my Inspiron 5584 and the TreeSize Free image below displays all my folders that exceed 1 GB in size . TreeSize Free shows that I'm currently only using 110.9 GB of disk space in total, and that my C:\Users\ folder accounts for 37.3% (41.3 GB) of that 110.9 GB of used disk space. If I expand my C:\Users\ folder I can see that the music files in my C:\Users\<myusername>\Music subfolder use over 20 GB of disk space, which is about what I'd expect. Note that I do not have Dell SupportAssist Remediation v5.5.5.x installed on my computer so my C:\ProgramData\Dell folder is relatively small. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2846 * Firefox v112.0.2 * Microsoft Edge v112.0.1722.64 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2303.8-1.1.20200.4 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.27.262-1.0.1991 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Update for Windows Universal v4.8.0 * My Dell v2.2.4 *CCleaner Free Portable v6.10.10347 * TreeSize Free Portable v4.6.3.508
  14. Hi markfleener: Is Dell's SupportAssist program installed on your Alienware 15 R4?. If SupportAssist is installed and you have not disabled automatic background scanning in the settings [Options (gear icon) | Settings | Automate Scans and Optimizations | Set Your System to Automatically Run Scans and Performance Optimization] then the so-called "system optimization" scans (Clean Files / Tune Performance / Optimize Network) will also clean your system. I uninstalled SupportAssist from my Inspiron 5584 because it was too buggy and consumed too much RAM and CPU, but before it was still installed I had this automatic scanning disabled (and NEVER ran Clean Files / Tune Performance / Optimize Network scans manually from the Home tab of SupportAssist) because these "system optimization" scans were too aggressive. For example, see my 12-Jul-2021 post in ex-jedi's Prevent Automatic Recycle Bin Emptying about the over-aggressive registry cleaner associated with the Tune Performance scan of SupportAssist. When you say memory, do you mean that your system is consuming unusually high amounts of RAM after all your third-part programs are closed? When you close your browser or a third-party program that should unload the program and free up memory (RAM), but that's quite different from the disk cleaning that CCleaner (and SupportAssist) perform where scans will actually remove unwanted / temporary files from your hard drive to free up space on your hard drive. Open Task Manager, choose the Processes tab, and then sort by the Memory column to see what programs are consuming high amounts of memory (RAM). The amount of RAM being consumed should increase when a program is launched (i.e., when it's loaded into memory) and then drop when the program is closed. If RAM is not being freed up when you close a programs then it's possible that programs has a memory leak (i.e., where the memory being consumed by the program's .exe executable will only be freed up by re-starting the computer). For example, when I open both Firefox and MS Edge at the same time I can see I'm using ~ 60% of my total 8 GB of RAM .... ...but when I close MS Edge my memory usage drops to ~ 56%. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2846 * Firefox v112.0.2 * Microsoft Edge v112.0.1722.64 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2303.8-1.1.20200.4 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.27.262-1.0.1991 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Update for Windows Universal v4.8.0 * My Dell v2.2.4 *CCleaner Free Portable v6.10.10347
  15. Hi Jack35: Further information is available in the CCleaner support article Select Cookies to Clean with CCleaner for Windows, which states in part: Note that I have removed ALL the cookies from my "Cookies to Keep" column that were added by the Intelligent Cookie Scan feature, including the avast.com and ccleaner.com sites. I don't use an Avast browser or antivirus and I suspect Avast / Piriform would prefer that I keep those cookies in the "Cookies to Keep" list so they can track my activity when I browse on their websites, which I don't want. I only run a Custom Clean scan with CCleaner once week so I also have my Firefox (Privacy & Security | Browser Privacy | History | Clear history when Firefox closes | Settings) and MS Edge (Settings | Privacy, Search and Services | Clear Browsing Data | Choose What to Clear Every Time You Close The Browser | Cookies and other site data | ON) browsers set to automatically delete all cookies every time I exit my browser. 16. Hi Jack53: Just a thought, but CCleaner has a feature called Intelligent Cookie Scan described in the support article Select Cookies to Clean with CCleaner for Windows that deliberately ignores cleaning of cookies that store login data for many popular sites like google.com, yahoo.com, etc. When I first installed CCleaner the Intelligent Cookie Scan was enforced by default. If you want CCleaner to clean those exempt cookies go to Options | Cookies and see if you have any cookies (e.g., google.com, etc.) in the "Cookies to Keep" column. If you're certain you want one of those exempt cookies cleaned then highlight the cookie and use the left-pointing arrow to move it to the "Cookies on Computer" column to ensure it's cleaned the next time you run a Custom Clean. Note that I don't run Health Check scans so I'm not sure what effect that would have on cookie cleaning with Health Check. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2846 * Firefox v112.0.2 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2303.8-1.1.20200.4 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.27.262-1.0.1991 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Free Portable v6.10.10347

    question

Hi aboobaw: It might be best if you contact CCleaner support by email at support@ccleaner.com or online at https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and ask if this free offer is still available for residents of Ukraine. I found a few older posts by employee Dave CCleaner at Free Subscription for Residents of Ukraine (12-May-2022) and CCleaner for Ukraine Licence Renewal (13-Nov-2022) but neither of those replies indicates if this March 2022 offer is still available in 2023. The original 10-Mar-2022 announcement by parent company Avast at Avast's Response to the War in Ukraine only says "We are giving paying users an extension on their licenses for free. Users of our freemium products are now also able to get our premium products for free. And our existing free products are still available to those who want them without disruption....We continue to monitor the changing situation and will adjust our approach as needed". ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2846 * Firefox v112.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2303.8-1.1.20200.4 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.27.262-1.0.1991 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Free Portable v6.10.10347
  20. Hi redwolfe_98: That's one possibility, but have you confirmed that yourself or is that just speculation? I deliberately @mentioned employee @johnccleaner because I was hoping they would be able to get the information I was seeking directly from the software developers who added the new Firefox cleaning options. CCleaner has damaged Firefox installations in the past because their QA team apparently does not test the potential effect of CCleaner on nightly/aurora/beta releases of Firefox before new (stable) Firefox versions are released to the general public (see my 03-Aug-2020 post in circcc's Problem with Firefox 79 ) so I'm always wary when Piriform / Avast makes any changes to Firefox cleaning. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2728 * Firefox v111.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2302.7-1.1.20100.6 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.25.256-1.0.1957 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Free Portable v6.10.10347
  21. Hi @johnccleaner : Could you or any of your colleagues at Piriform / Avast provide further details about the new cleaning options for Firefox browsers that were added to the current CCleaner v6.10.10347? The 15-Mar-2023 release notes <here> for v6.10.10347 state "We have expanded cleaning with 23 new options, especially for popular apps in Windows Store and social media apps (e.g., Douyin, YouPlay, Facebook Messenger), video editing (Video Editor Master, ClipChamp), and Mozilla Firefox. " but I am unable to determine exactly what new items CCleaner v6.10.10347 can now clean in my Firefox browser. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2728 * Firefox v111.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2302.7-1.1.20100.6 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.25.256-1.0.1957 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Free Portable v6.10.10347
  22. Hi nukecad: Are you sure you and the OP emrahylz are talking about the same "Recent Files" list? I have a Win 10 Pro v22H2 OS and as far as I know CCleaner v6.10's Custom Clean feature is working as expected and clears the "Recent Files" list in File Explorer if I select "Quick Access", assuming I have selected "Recent Documents" to be cleaned. I ran a Custom Clean today with these settings: This is what File Explorer's "Recent Files" list looked like before the Custom Clean when I chose Quick Access (i.e., 12 recent files; note that I collapsed the "Frequent Folders" section of Quick Access before capturing the image) ... ... and here's what it looked like after the clean (i.e., 0 recent files). ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2728 * Firefox v111.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2301.6-1.1.20100.6 * Malwarebytes Premium v 4.5.24.248-1.0.1944 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Free Portable v6.10.10347 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  23. Hi Woolf: If the Software Updater in CCleaner v6.10 is working correctly it should detect that CPU-Z v2.0.5.1 (a.k.a. v2.05.1) is actually the latest version. I downloaded a fresh copy of CPU-Z Portable from https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html today and it appears that a new v2.0.5.1 of CPU-Z was released on Mar-13-2023, even though there's no change to the name of the English installers (i.e., they are all still named cpu-z_2_05-en.xxx) and there is no mention of a v2.0.5.1 update in the version history <here>. Here's what today's fresh copy looks like: My SUMo (Software Update Monitor) utility now confirms my CPU-Z v2.0.5.1 is up-to-date. My second image <here> in my 16 Mar-2023 post shows that CPU-Z v2.5.0.0 (released 01-Mar-2023) reported I was fully patched when a self-check for a program update from inside CPU-Z at Tools | Check for a New Version on 16-Mar-2023, so I'm still not sure why that check for a program update from within the 64-bit CPU-Z v2.0.5.0 interface didn't detect that v2.5.0.1 (released 13-Mar-2023) was available. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2604 * Firefox v111.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2301.6-1.1.20100.6 * Malwarebytes Premium v 4.5.24.248-1.0.1944 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Free Portable v6.10.10347 * CPU-Z Portable v2.05.1 * SUMo Portable v5.17.2.534
  24. The version history for CCleaner v6.10.10347 (released 15-Mar-2023) at https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/version-history states in part: What new cleaning options are available for Mozilla Firefox, and does this only apply to the Mozilla Firefox Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app available on the Microsoft Store? I just launched CCleaner Free Portable v6.10.10347 (using the same ccleaner.ini file that I was using for the previous v6.09.10300) and can't see any new options for the Custom Clean feature at Applications tab | Firefox, and when I click the "Analyze" button it doesn't appear that any new items will be cleaned for my desktop version of the Firefox v111 browser. Please note that I don't want CCleaner cleaning anything in my default Firefox browser after the damage that CCleaner 5.69.7865 did to Firefox v79 add-ons (see my 03-Aug-2020 post in circcc's Problem with Firefox 79). I've been following FlyHigh's 15-Mar-2023 topic 6.10.10347 about how the "expanded cleaning with 23 new options" in CCleaner v6.10 is starting some Windows services like the TeamViewer service to perform new cleaning tasks even if the user has deliberately configured the service not to run at boot-up, and I want to make sure that CCleaner v6.10 isn't doing something to my Firefox browser that it shouldn't be doing before I actually click "Run CCleaner" and allow it clean my system. This isn't the first time that Avast / Piriform has added and automatically enabled new cleaning options that unexpectedly deleted data or made some change that users didn't want (see my 20-Feb-2022 thread Question RE: New Windows SubSystems Temp Files Cleaning in Cleaner v5.90 for another example). I could see why they might do this for the Health Check feature - that's one of the risks of using this type of "one size fits all" one-click cleaner - but a user's Custom Clean settings should never be changed without their permission. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2604 * Firefox v111.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2301.6-1.1.20100.6 * Malwarebytes Premium v 4.5.24.248-1.0.1944 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Free Portable v6.10.10347
  25. Hi Woolf: I'm not sure what's going on with CPU-Z at the moment. My free SUMo (Software Update Monitor) v5.17.2 has been detecting a v2.0.5.1 (a.k.a. v2.05.1) update for CPU-Z for a few days and the MajorGeeks site now says it's offering CPU-Z v2.05.1 at https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/cpu_z.html. However, the English installers currently offered by MajorGeeks are still named cpu-z_2_05-en.xxx and not something like cpu-z_2_05_1-en.xxx. The official CPUID CPU-Z download page at https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html#version-history where I usually get the .zip file for any new CPU-Z Portable releases looks like it's still offering the same v2.05.0 installers that were released on 01-Mar-2023, and if I launch CPU-Z v2.05.0 and check for an update (Tools | Check for a New Version) it reports I'm using the latest version. There might be a beta version of CPU-Z v2.05.1 being used by a few users, but if so it shouldn't be detected by my SUMo utility since I have disabled Options | Settings | Allow Beta Versions in SUMo. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2604 * Firefox v111.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2301.6-1.1.200000.2 * Malwarebytes Premium v 4.5.24.248-1.0.1944 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * CCleaner Free Portable v 6.09.10300 * CPU-Z Portable v2.05.0
