  1. Thanks hazelnut. For unknown reasons I have not had these annoying side by side errors coming up lately.
  2. The error in the Event Viewer came back today at 2.51 pm. Back to square one.
  3. It could be that the problem is solved. Uninstalled CCleaner, rebooted, ran rebuild iconcache, installed CCleaner slim again, rebooted and checked the event manager. So far no errors shown in the event viewer. Hope it will continue like this. If not, I'll be back.
  4. hazelnut, that was what I did immediately after installing CCleaner. Options, Monitoring and unticked the 2 boxes in there which were ticked in the first place. There's only 1 account on this PC and that's me. So that is not working for me. Thanks and a Happy New Year to you.
  5. Error 31/12/2014 12:17:42 AM SideBySide 80 None Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "" on line . A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active. Conflicting components are:. I decided to post the above anyway to make it easier to read. Please refer back to my previous posts to read about the other stuff. Sorry and thank you.
  6. Don't know what happened to my previous post after I edited it. are not supposed to be showing. Sorry about that. If unreadable to you and you will need it and will repost it.
  7. Below errors is what I get when I installed the latest slim version of CCleaner after it became available and since then the same error showed up every day in the Event Viewer. So I uninstalled it, installed older versions several times and still got the errors shown below. Error 31/12/2014 12:17:42 AM SideBySide 80 None Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "" on line . Then when I call up Show Up Hidden Icons, I see that CCleaner monitoring is active even after I unticked the box for it in CCleaner itself. That icon seems to be stuck and won't be removed when uninstalling CCleaner. All the above same problems also showed when I deleted the current CCleaner and installed older version(s). Currently I am running the latest CCleaner slim. Hopefully there will be a fix coming from CCleaner?
  8. I don't have PM portable but the installer one as well as Fx 4. What I did find when right clicking on a file and selecting view detailed results (after analyzing) that PM's files are listed under Mozilla/Fx. Perhaps same thing happens with the portable? In any case, I don't keep any cookies after a browsing session.
  9. Hi Hazelnut. Thank you for your reply. I looked into that already and couldn't find any exclusion section in the PC Tools+ Firewall v 7. Perhaps I did set it up in default and that could be the reason. Not much to tweak in there.
  10. Hi Nergal. Yeah, something funny with free PC Tools+ v7 firewall happened. I did allow all popups that the FW gave to install Speccy properly. As said it would NOT work at all, no info and it would freeze my PC as well. That round thingy in Speccy would be twirling around and around and never stopped. I'm definite that the above didn't happen with their firewall version 6. Guess it's time to think about getting another more deserving firewall.
  11. Forgot some additional important information to my previous post. In order for Speccy to work every time while having the PC Tools+ FW installed is: ONE HAS TO DISABLE THAT FIREWALL EVERY TIME PRIOR TO RUNNING SPECCY!!
  12. Thank you Nergal for your reply and help. Meanwhile I didn't sit still and worked hard to find the cause of what I thought was Speccy's behavior. I removed Speccy and any remnants, downloaded and installed it again with the PC Tools+ FW version 7 OFF and that did the trick!! The version of the firewall was recently changed from version 6 to version 7 and that must have been the reason why Speccy did work prior to this now resolved problem. Thank you again. PS: I tried to debug by following your instructions and that didn't work for me. "Program" could not be found - yet it was there. Never debugged before though.
  13. Had Speccy for a while and was working fine. Downloaded and installed the previous version of Speccy and the problem of freezing and hanging started. It was unable to give me any info of my PC and I had to close my PC with pushing the turn off button. Tried the latest version of Speccy today and the very same thing happened. Could not even take a screen picture of the event. I really used to like Speccy and wonder now what could have caused it to fail and what could be done to correct it? Would downloading the portable version to my PC work? (I don't have a USB Flash Drive) Thank you in advance. Specs: WinXP Home, Dimension 4600i, 2.5 GB. PC Tools FW v7, Avast! Free v5, Malwarebytes' and SAS on demand.

    ARPcache

Thank you Andavari for your excellent advice and explanations.

    ARPcache

Thank you Andavari for your reply and suggestions. I will follow your suggestion and NOT exclude ARPCache in CCleaner as it will add a lot of gunk in the ARP registry. My workaround will be this: will untick the "installer" box after cleanup with CCleaner's registry and will tick it again about every month. Doing this will lessen my frustration by seeing those items time and time again as I use CCleaner and the Add/Remove Programs quite a bit. I have one last question though. If one decides to exclude the ARPCache and over time wants to include it again, how does one reverse that action? Thank you once again.

    ARPcache

Thank you for your response. I thought that CCleaner would be interested in the fact that these problems with the ARP cache started when I installed .NET Framework version 2, 3.0 and 3.5 on February 1, 2009. My Dell machine came with .NET Framework 1.1 in 2004 and never caused any issues with Uninstaller Reference Issues in the ARPCache until I downloaded the aforementioned versions on Feb. 1, 2009. No other .NET versions were added in between 2004 and Feb. 1, 2009. Would it be possible for CCleaner to add an option like an exemption to exempt these Uninstaller Reference Issues ARP from being shown in CCleaner as there seems to be a connection with .NET Framework as per my previous post? Or in the very least, try to see if there is any connection because I DID see the connection today!! Thank you.

    ARPcache

I've used Cleaner for years, including of course the "scan for issues" registry part. Just love CCleaner. Never did I have a problem with finding Uninstaller Reference Issues until I installed .NET Framework versions 2, 3.0 and 3.5 in February 2009. When I access Add/Remove Programs just by looking at it, it creates a lot of ARP issues in CCleaner's "scan for issues". Today I uninstalled all .NET Framework versions, accessed Add/Remove Programs and I discovered it did NOT show any Uninstaller Issues re ARPcache!!!! Then I installed all versions of .NET Framework and guess what? CCleaner picked up the Uninstaller Reference Issues again!!! Therefore I come to the conclusion that it must be .NET Framework (Microsoft) or perhaps something has been overlooked in CCleaner's software creation? I have Windows XP Home, SP3 Any comments and/or advise please if anything can be done about it? Yes, I've read all the info pertaining to this issue on this forum. Thank you.
