  1. Yes it's not IE8, but from IE7 onwards it appears. Since ms put both the temp and cookies in the same folder when you delete the index.dat file it also deletes your 'saved cookies' Un check delete 'index.dat' and DO not have cc start/clean from start up and your cookies should be saved. See my post I just added the other day... http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=21476 As this is obviously a common problem Why doesn't someone from cc cleaner say if this IS a 'bug' or a technical problem that is being worked on. And yes as jt says it is a real PIA :-( Andy
  2. Well and 'update' After doing a 'google' Ifound this post... http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=6981 Basically it's an old post that says cc cleaner is not ( was ? ) compatible with IE7 and to keep your chosen cookies then UN Check delete Index.dat and do not have it run at start up. I tried this and it works, the cookies I want to keep Are now kept. So does this mean that this bug was Never fixed and cc cleaner is still not working properly with IE7 or apparently Ie8. If this is Not that case and that 'bug' was fixed then why does it not work on my PC? Obviously Not deleteing Index.dat makes using a program like this completely pointless in the first place so it would be nice to get to the bottom of all this, I seem to be getting closer ! Andy
  3. Thanks for the reply metalj, can't say I saw a 'fix' in there apart from remove all the cookies of the cc list and start again which I had already tried. The other link in that post where people are suggesting it's a cc 'problem' I think are wrong as the same thing happens in other cleaners I have tried for a 'test' I would be Interested though for someone to comment on what I said before and if it 'affects' them in the same way.. Thanks Andy. p.s I just tried the 'wipe free space' in cc using 1, pass, 3 and then 7 and it doesn't even delete file names, everything still shows in all my file recovery programs, do the same test in Eraser and everything is properly erased and an empty disc is shown in recovery software as should be the case, so that feature obviously isn't 'up to much' !
  4. Hi I have has this problem since using IE7 ( 6 was fine ) and the morons at ms decided to put the cookies in the same folder as the temp files. I have certain cookies excluded that I want to keep and so are added to 'cookies to keep' list. When doing a clean and then checking the folder afterwards the cookies I want to keep Are still there ( well showing as such anyway ! ) and the rest of the folder is deleted. On re boot though the cookies have Always gone ! I do NOT have any other file cleaning software running or anything that can effect that folder on start up or shutdown. Now the interesting thing ( I don't know if this is normal or not ) is If I try to add to add the cookies, or any file for that matter using the 'exclude' option and choosing 'Add File' if I try and choose the IE7 temporary Internet file folder when I go to open the folder in the 'tree list' cc cleaner doesn't open the folder but adds the folder to the list even though I selected add file, cc obviously thinks that folder is a file. Is this maybe why my cookies are getting deleted because the whole folder is actually being erased rather then the internal contents ? I have moved the IE7 temp int folder to another location but that made no difference. I have tried another cleaner and that also had the same results and as I can't find any other info about people not being able to keep 'hold of' cookies it seems to be an odd thing with my pc , maybe ? Any ideas please as I have run out of things to try at the moment. Thanks Andy
