  1. I installed Windows 10 a couple weeks ago and today I was going to use CCleaner's Drive Wiper tool to wipe free space but I'm getting a message saying Access Denied when I run it. And, yes, I'm running it as an administrator. The tool always worked for me before installing Windows 10. There is no further information included with the Access Denied message.
  2. I'm getting a serious error that always starts after I run CCleaner. It even does it on another PC that I got a couple weeks ago. I have been using CCleaner for years with no problems until a couple months ago. I'm running Windows XP SP3, IE7, all up-to-date. For two or three months, system errors have been showing up in my Event Viewer that say that DCOM is timing out. When the error occurs, my system locks up for 2 or 3 minutes, on average. On rare occasions, I have to re-boot. Any application that was running continues to run but nothing else responds. This happened several times to a dozen times a day. I searched forums for a month but could find no suggestions or solutions. Finally, I got in touch with MS Technical Support and, after a couple hours on the phone when they took control of my PC remotely, we found that IE was corrupted. We uninstalled it and reinstalled it and the problem was gone but we didn't know what caused it in the first place. The problem came back after I ran CCleaner and it also started happening on another PC that I got two weeks ago that I also installed and used CCleaner on. Luckily, I have found that simply resetting IE fixes the problem. That's inconvenient, however, because settings have to be changed and some add-ons have to be fiddled with to get them to run again, etc. As I write this, I have narrowed the problem down to being caused by one of several checks in CCleaner's Registry check. I suspect that is is the "Activex and Class Issues" check but I won't know for sure for a couple days. I have to run each one and then wait a day or two to see if the problem happens again before trying the next one. The cleaner for "Windows" and "Applications" have caused no problems. Attached is a screenshot of my Event Viewer error in Services. Microsoft Technical Support found that DCOM was not able to connect with whatever it had to connect to. (I don't really understand what DCOM is myself - even after reading up on it. ) I did notice that after MS Technical Support helped me fix the problem and before I knew that CCleaner was causing the problem, CCleaner picked up a register with the same character string that is shown in the Event Viewer error (attached) sometimes but not always. However, even when I unchecked that issue in the CCleaner list, the error reappeared every time after running the registry cleaner. The exact same problem also reappears on my other PC after running CCleaner so I suspect that other people are experiencing this too since my two PCs have nothing else in common. The problem probably started after a CCleaner program update a couple months ago because that's when the problem started. BTW, other than that, thanks for making a great product.! I just hope the problem I am having is being caused by some kind of bug in CCleaner that can be fixed. I really appreciate all the works you folks have done on CCleaner. It's a great product that I have relied upon for years. It just seems that a bug has appeared in it recently.
