  1. Hello, I am using defraggler to do its great work on my external HDD drives also. When I analyse one and look at the file list, there are many files that are in the Recycle.Bin of that drive. How can I remove that content from the HDD? And, when I open Defraggler it shows six drives that do not exist... should and can I delete them? I am using (freshly installed) Win 7 and those drives do not turn up on my "Computer Window"... Thanks.
  2. Yes, those settings have been there for a long time, thanks.
  3. I am sorry. But anyway you have understood it correctly. Basically: I cannot clear the cache as long as Firefox is open. But Ff will remember the tabs that were open, before I closed it for cleaning?
  4. So basically my mistake is NOT to close Firfox before starting ccleaner?
  5. Sorry, but I do not understand how to do that.... Close Fiefox before running ccleaner and then check in the task manager if those two are off?
  6. Good morning, I noticed it a week ago, ccleaner tells me "Firefox Internet Cache skipped", when I run it normally.... What is going on? Thank you. JG
  7. Then I should be fine.... thanks
  8. Does ccleaner auromatically delete LOS cookies also? Thank you once more for those great softwares ccleaner and defraggler.... jg
  9. Thank you all, I have uninstalled it now, and as far as I can tell, everything seems to be working...
  10. Because of my present location, I have to watch p2p broadcasts from the other side of the planet. Will it interfere with those?

    Ff and Java

After installing Ff 7 I was told that it no longer uses Java. Can I uninstall Java or is it needed by other apps, some sites need IE... Thanks
  12. Is it possible that someone writes about those tests? I am using Advanced Uninstaller and I somehow have the feeling there might be something better out there... Thanks
  13. Is there a way to prevent certain sites from placing cookies on the computer? For example: I get cookies from sites like this: edge.sharethis.com und addfreestats.com and want them not to be able to do it. Is it possible? Thanks
  14. Thanks, I found it.... Few days ago, I installed opera, as it works for certain TV stations as a proxy. In the the ccleaner "application" list opera has its own place now, and there "cookies" was not clicked. I have been using ccleaner for many years now, and nothing like that ever happend before, that is what confused mne.... Thanks again.
  15. I just checked and AFTER using ccleaner the list of cookies in the left column is still there.... (using Windows 7 ultimate & firefox) How is that possible?
  16. I suppose this could have damaged it... my Speccy always shows the temperature of my CPU. And it usual is in the 60s or 70s, as far as I remember, right now it is 64 degrees, after using it for 20 minutes. But I regularly keep my fan windows clean, but that does not make any difference at all. Old age... what to do.... the computer and myself.... ;-)
  17. All of these have been checked, as I have written, by the way. I agree by now, that it probably is simply "old age". One more question I still have. The computergets quite hot, is it possible that a CPU slows down in its performance, because of heat damage? Can it simply perform slower, or would it break completely when overheated? (This question is about damage here, not the overheating. The computer is as slow, when it is still cold)
  18. No, I did not write that. I have Avast installed, and because it gets so slow I check with other software also. Malwarebytes is not turned on, just installed, and Avira Live, is a special boot CD which you can download from Avira...
  19. No, taskmanager shows absolutely nothing, its all "Leerlaufprocess" (running empty)
  20. I also suspect the old age of this 1.6 GHZ machine.... I will fly back home on sunday, and there will be my fast Windows7. This one here I use for travelling, and it seems so much slower than it used be before... Especially Firefox and the vlc player. (I have changed over to KM player, which is a lot faster). Worst is turning the computer off, it really takes several minutes... what to do. I suppose when we get old, we also get slower.... ;-)
  21. Thanks, but auto update is turned off...
  22. Thanks. I use Avast permanently, I also use Malwarebytes, and even Avira live, but nothing ever turns up. The problem with sites like blackviper is, that they do not give precise enough instructions. Basically they would only be useful, if I already knew the answer to the question I am asking. If you follow the instructions, you simply sooner or later end up with a no longer really functioning computer and you have to re-install, what was deleted and end up where you started... which is precisely where I am right now. I guess it might simply be my not too fast computer (1,60 Ghz), but in a week I will be back home with my "real" machine.... Thanks again for trying
  23. I hope someone here can read anough german, as my windows XP pro SP3 is a german installation. XP and Firefox are getting very slow, admittedly the computer itself also not the fastest, but this speed is baaaad... I have tried about everything else. And then I found all these services that are switched on. I need someone, who really needs to know what he, or she, is talking about. Because advice from other sources ended up interfering with the normal working of the computer, and I had to switch everything back on..... Which of these can be switched off? Anybody knows? 24. Good, I will try this one and tell you tomorrow. Thank you! Some hours later... no, no difference, but then then I tried something else... I simply close firefox... did NOT use cCleaner at all, and opened it ten minutes later again.... and again no tabs... so I am now certain that it is firefox itsself... unless you suggest otherwise????
  25. When closing firefox it asks if it should remember the open tabs. But even after I click "save tabs" they still are removed at the next restart. This has never happened in the last 10 years until a few weeks ago, when I updated both Firefox and cCleaner. Is one of my settings (see: Attachment) wrong? Will it make a difference and fix this, if I un- and re-install cCleaner and/or Firefox? I had some problems before when I updated firefox, some of the add-ons and apps no longer worked. So I went back the older version and the problem was solved. Still, firefox asks me, and I say "safe tabs" it should not really forget my tabs, so I suppose it must be cCleaner? Thanks again, JG
