  1. is it possible to export and import programs? like download a program on a friends computer and then save it to a memory stick and import it to your computer when you get the time?
  2. yes im into regedit but its not what i thought it was, i thought i was going to be able to get into window program files registries and delete antiviruses from there but its not showing them or any other prgram from my windows vista
  3. thanks ice drake but that didnt work. do you or anyone else know how to use regedit on ubuntu? i went to terminal and typed apt etc and it just wouldnt download, so i went to the ubuntu software and ticked a box there to enable something that was recommended to get wine installed but that didnt work either so does anyone know how to install wine to get regedit on ubuntu
  4. i can access alomst all my files from my ubuntu cd that are on my vista side so maybe i can delete kaspersky like that? if anyone knows how. i managed to delete the kasp download file that was on my desktop and some other kasp files but my computer still wouldnt boot in vista
  5. hazel and frank i already tried that link you gave trust me it isnt working its not so much im not listening its just that it isn't working i downloaded the removal tool and it wont open because im in ubuntu linux not windows, the whole instructions on that section are based on if you can get into windows ''go into safe mode to uninstall kasp'' i cant even get into safe mode or anything else. heres my info whenever i try to go to safe mode or safe mode with networking or safe mode with command prompt the computer loads and then always stops at a file called system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys and just stays like that untill i turn it off also i can only get into the command prompt from the vista recovery cd formfrank i already did that too i get a display off my downloads and users and program files etc by going to the c dir thing and then when i go dir users or anything else i get a display of all the users on this computer and then when i go to dir username i get a message saying c file or something not found and if i try to go to other sections of the dir doing that i get the same message -not found- or something like that
  6. How to manually set registry key permissions to Administrators: 1. Make a registry backup first either with ERUNT, or System Restore. 2. Click Start, Run, and type in: RegEdit 3. In RegEdit navigate to the key. 4. Right click the registry key to display a pop-up, then click: Permissions 5. Now click: Add 6. Input into the field named 'Enter object names to select': Administrators 7. You "should" now be able to successfully remove the key. ill test this out when i get my vista side running again. if only i could've accessed regedit through linux
  7. how can i get into the documents and settings from cmd if anyone knows
  8. i know hazel but its very frustrating when your computer wont work. It's best if im getting advice from anyone. Plus im sure its good if someone down the road on the forums has the same problem it could save them trouble. Im right now on my ubuntu cd once again and my computer works i find it amazing how that works
  9. no its not working lol uhh im cursed why does this only happen to me. i just wanted to try kaspersky and from that i end up again with a non bootable computer but to make matters worse its a different problem so whatever applied before doesnt work comodo and kanspersky never again ever
  10. i thought i would try kaspersky so i disabled avast and installed kasp at the same time which i shouldn't of done since i needed to install kasp after totally disabling avast so now my cmputer won't start and im wondering how can i fix this from the cmd line? because it seems i cant fix it any other way, i already tried safe mode it didnt work and i tried the vista recover cd and that didnt work either. It's a very simliar problem like the comodo 1 but it doesnt seem to be as complex i think i just need a script to delete kaspersky from the cmd line
  11. i was shocked to see i still have comodo registries after uninstalling it and running ccleaner and everything so i went to delete them and i got this ''one or more keys cannot be deleted access is denied (5)'' So i tried looking up a reg deleting software and came across malwarebytes reg deleter software but it didnt work. I tried changing permissions on the reg file i wanted to delete and it wouldnt let me change permissions simply says access denied. Im running vista home basic and i disabled the uac and am running in administrator while doing all of this heres the name of the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet004\Enum\Root\LEGACY_CMDHLP i know its safe to delete
  12. thanks tarq, so i take it you recommend pctools firewall over windows firewall
  13. is PCTools firewall any better than windows firewall. I looked it up and it seems fine but then again i heard alot of firewalls cause crashing and slowdowns on your computer
  14. is there something like this for vista? i find it pretty cool that it would replace any accidentally deleted registry's etc if you accidentally deleted them
  15. if i click on a file yes i see system account unknown inspiron account unknown administrator
  16. im going to stick with windows firewall. I'm scared to install another firewall after the comodo disaster
  17. yes comodo was hell to me and even after i revo and ccleaner it. I still found plenty of leftover files on my computer. Everybody who came to my house and saw that it wouldnt start or anything past the bios were like ''why bother fixing it, just pay to fix it or re-install it'' luckly i managed to fix it. i dont think there is a virus that could mess up my computer how the comodo stuff messed up my computer lol
  18. ok so i tried it and it wasnt good lol. As soon as i started scanning my computer it was taking forever to scann then it just totally froze on me? so i thought if its giving me problems like this already forget it im revo uninstalling it but at the same time i came across another program by accident there called tuneup utilities 2008 and it seems really good. I love ccleaner and will always use it but tuneup utilities 2008 is way better
  19. there protection is very good but is there online protection the same? because i have ad-aware and im wondering which 1 is better online protection. I think there is a difference with on demand and online. Just because 1 is good on demand doesn't mean its good with real-time as well. Or am i wrong?
  20. they say there stuff is compatible with other softwares so i figure ill give it a shot and see how it is
  21. whats a good driver cleaner then
  22. its hard to get help on this but im going to try. Whenever i right click on any file and go to properties and then security tab i always see my two normal accounts with username and then i see two accounts that i deleted in the past that are called account unknown in the security tab. I already deleted these accounts and they dont appear anywhere but the security tabs on any file i right click. How can i remove this. I figured i can click edit and then remove them which i did but it didnt work they just reappear. I remember back before i deleted these accounts i played with the permissions on the account because i was doing something and i think maybe thats why they are still showing on the properties of files
  23. if you purchase malware bytes for 25$ is that a lifetime subscription? how good is their online protection?
