  1. Which OS? Which version of NAV? Over the past couple of years, I've run various versions of CCleaner regularly on various PC's with Windows XP and Norton Internet Security (which includes NAV) versions 2007 and 2008 without any problems. I had some problems with a machine running Windows XP and NIS 2006 but they didn't appear to be caused by CCleaner. As soon as I described the problem, Symantec sent me a free upgrade to NIS 2007.
  2. Is the other drive to which you're pasting using NTFS? 4GB is the filesize limit for FAT32.
  3. My Dell came with a similar package. About a year ago, for an unrelated reason, I did a clean OS re-install and didn't install the Jasc software. I haven't had any problems. Unless you paid for it, the Paint Shop Pro 8 should just be a 60-day free trial.
  4. I'd say so. Everything else is the sort of stuff that, if you use CCleaner on Office at all, you'd want to clean.
  5. Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. I may have confused the situation by answering your questions in reverse order.
  6. In Office 2003:FileKey1=%appdata%\Microsoft\Office\Recent|*.* RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Excel\Recent Files RegKey2=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\Open Find\Microsoft Office Word\Settings\Save As\File Name MRU Regkey3=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\PowerPoint\Recent File List Regkey4=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Publisher\Recent File List Regkey5=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\InfoPath\Recent File List RegKey6=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\Internet\Server Cache RegKey7=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\Internet|UseRWHlinkNavigation RegKey8=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MSPaper 11.0\Persist File Name RegKey9=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MSPaper 11.0\Recent File List RegKey10=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data|Settings RegKey11=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application|LastFile1 RegKey12=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application|LastFile2 RegKey13=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application|LastFile3 RegKey14=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application|LastFile4 RegKey15=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application|LastFile5 RegKey16=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application|LastFile6 RegKey17=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application|LastFile7 RegKey18=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application|LastFile8 RegKey19=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Contact|QuickFindMRU RegKey20=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Contact|StripSearchMRU RegKey21=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Preferences|LocationMRU To check other versions, just open the CCleaner winapp.ini file. Do not edit it unless you really know what you are doing. The most common complaint is that clearing RegKey10=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data|Settings wipes a bunch of custom settings in Word. If you left everything at default, probably no problem. Also, some people don't like losing the Outlook dropdowns when the last 3 registry keys are wiped.
  7. If Windows XP, My Computer, right-click C:\ > Properties > Tools > Error-checking > Check Now Depending on drive size, it can take quite a while.
  8. Which e-mail application? If you mean Outlook, everything is either on the e-mail server or in "Personal Folders". Personal Folders is typically C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst Everything is usually in the one file (although you can have more than one .pst). The subfolders are virtual so CCleaner can't delete individual e-mails or folders. If you have another e-mail client, someone else may be able to help.
  9. In CC, is Options > Advanced > Show detailed log of Internet Explorer / Firefox/Mozilla temporary files enabled? I don't know if this will affect the "XXMB to be removed" but it will show the full list of filenames. Also, close the browser(s) before running CC. I suggest that you just run "Analyse" so that, if CC will clean more, you can see the list first. It's normally a good idea to have the "48 hour" box ticked. If you are doing a software install/update, some temp files may need to be there during your next reboot and if you mistakenly run CC before then ...
  10. Is it the same file every time, i.e., Perflib_Perfdata_95c.dat and same created/modified times ... or are new ones replacing old ones, i.e., different 3-character string and created/modified dates but same total number of files ... or are new ones accumulating, i.e., number of files is increasing? Do the created/modified times match when you reboot? In which folder(s) are they C:\Windows\Temp or C:\Documents, Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp, and/or elsewhere?
  11. Did OneCare indicate where these temp files were located? EDIT: Are there are other users on your computer? If so, could these temp files be in their profiles? In CC, do you have Options > Advanced > Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older tha 48 hours selected? If so, try unticking it. Do you mean something in addition to the difference to OneCare?
  12. It took me a while to get some comparisons run but, running Windows XP Home SP2 and CCleaner v2.05.555: - Normal deletion to remove 31.5MB took 0.709 seconds - Simple Overwrite (1 pass) to remove 31.4MB took 12.145 seconds So secure deletion definitely adds time (as expected) but nothing like you're experiencing.
  13. 802.11n is still in draft. If you buy now, you have to hope the manufacturer can supply firmware upgrades to meet the final standard which is expected next summer.
  14. Yes it does but bugs have been reported in some past versions ... and fixed. What version of CC are you running? What browser(s)? ??? What leads you to believe so?
  15. You can have several Perflib_Perfdata_XXX.dat files (I have 1 in C:\Windows\Temp and 2 in C:\Documents and Settings\Glenn\Local Settings\Temp) where XXX is a random alphanumeric. They are system temp files that appear to be freshly created at boot and are usually locked in use but if one is incorrectly persisting, you should be able to delete it using Unlocker. EDIT: Knowledge Base article KB 285798 My Computer, right-click C:\ > Properties > Tools > Error-checking > Check Now Not that I'm aware of.
  16. daba said things were slow when he used secure deletion with the current version and that he believed he was using secure deletion with the earlier version. Is it possible the earlier version appeared faster to him because it wasn't actually overwriting all the files? EDIT: daba, how many passes have you set for secure deletion?
  17. Wasn't there a problem with some of the earlier versions not securely deleting all the files?
  18. Is it possible that the list is recently typed URLs rather than all visited URLs? If so, do you have Recently Typed URLs selected?

    That doesn't happen for me.
  20. Use a winapp2.ini entry EDIT: I put 2 backups in C:\Program Files\CCleaner\Reg Backups and then ran CC with this added to the winapp2.ini [*Delete CC Reg Backups] LangSecRef=3021 Default=False DetectFile=%ProgramFiles%\CCleaner\CCleaner.exe FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\CCleaner\Reg Backups|*.reg and it seemed to work OK. Deleted 2 .reg files and ignored a .txt I put in there just to test.
  21. If Win XP is working properly, it should accumulate 128 .pf files plus Layout.ini. When it exceeds 128, on the next reboot it should clear all but the most recent 64. I've heard there may be a folder size limit as well but mine appears to self-clean based on the number of .pf files.
  22. This article at NirSoft and their freeware utility may help.
  23. 'c:windows/prefetch' is an incorrect path. As Disk4mat said, you need to use backslashes C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch rather than a slash / Check the dates of the .pf files. Selecting Advanced > Old Prefetch data only clears entries older than 14 days (typically obsolete or unused applications). Prefetch repopulates and, at best, cleaning it is pointless ... it self-cleans. Cleaning old entries is probably harmless but cleaning actively used entries actually hurts performance.
  24. That's the one thing you can eliminate ... Options > Adsvanced > Show prompt to backup registry issues
  25. To clear: Internet Options > General > Browsing history > Delete > Form data EDIT: Note that clears all typed form data. To disable: Internet Options > Content > AutoComplete > Use AutoComplete for ... deselect "Web addresses"
