  1. It's another one of the dreaded can't uninstall components, however you can disable it via these instructions: http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article03-201 or http://www.theeldergeek.com/delete_pic_and_fax_viewer.htm
  2. Yup, however it can effect high speed connections as well. I've visited some popular software download sites that won't even load due to a widely used popular ad server that seems to be constantly overloaded.
  3. Perhaps it has something to do with the index.dat files. Run CCleaner then reboot, then see if the history list is still there.
  4. Even if a registry cleaner is very power it can still miss many things, hence the reason multiple registry cleaners have to be used.
  5. Glad to help. I only thought of that sometime later when I saw it check marked in my settings.
  6. If we don't actively feed the troll by answering his questions or even making remarks it's the first step for him to realize we're ignoring him and he'll eventually go away and bother another forum. The CCleaner Forums needs a Recycle Bin to move posts to that the admin and moderation consider junk/crap/useless/way off topic.
  7. Do you have the setting highlighted in yellow selected:
  8. If someone wants to get some loot from their site it's their decision, however keep in mind that ad's are one of the most blocked/filtered things on the Internet.
  9. Copy it from C:\I386 to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
  10. One would think that Invision Power Board would implement an automatted spell checker.
  11. It's a good thing CCleaner won't do this, it's not a shoot yourself in the foot type of program! I can only imagine the kind of comments people would write after it deleted everything. If you are placing files in the rootdir the only solution I see is to create a batch file that will delete all files on that tempdisk, or create a batch file that will quick format the disk. Automatted delete information for usage in a .bat file can be found by opening a command prompt and typing in: del /? Automatted format information for usage in a .bat file can be found by opening a command prompt and typing in: format /? I suppose you could even use a standard shortcut for quick formatting the disk.
  12. Those left overs XnView entries should be perfectly safe to remove. After you remove them run the Issues scanner in CCleaner again.
  13. I don't understand what you're asking.
  14. Yup! No need to download anything else to do it since you've already got CCleaner.
  15. I would only be interested in it if it were a split keyboard design. After seven years of using a split keyboard I can barely type on a standard one since my hands aren't used to the layout.
  16. Open "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\winapp.ini" and you'll see what is removed. If you want to see other things that are removed look at the other .ini files as well.
  17. Currently with CCleaner alone the answer is no. The only solution is to use an installation watching program such as InCtrl5, Total Uninstall, or the installation watcher in System Mechanic however all three programs are commercial software and must be purchased. InCtrl5 is the less expensive of the bunch, and it's what I've been using for years. The way I try to remove as much of an uninstalled program is the following: 1. Uninstall the program, and reboot. 2. Backup the registry using ERUNT, and create a System Restore point. 3. Manually delete any folders and files leftover from the installation, being careful not to delete valid Windows system files. 4. Run and rerun the registry cleaning portion until no invalid entries are found using CCleaner, EasyCleaner (avoid the duplicate files finder), and RegSeeker (make damn sure you look at what it removed before rebooting). 5. Manually remove any leftover registry entries that the registry cleaners don't remove using RegEdit. You have to perform searches to find relevant items, and then browse through the registry to manually find other remnants. Note: Bloated programs for example like Microsoft Office, Norton Antivirus, etc., are difficult and time consuming to remove and may not be possible to completely remove from the registry.
  18. Neither have I. Since so many programs seek out "temporary" file extensions which are deemed "junk" I switched from using *.bak to *.backup in my programs, and to my surprise and unawareness Microsoft also does this.
  19. Good description rridgely, I was starting to wonder how this thing was supposed to work.
  20. I just tested it using metapad, and it didn't. However just right click the systray icon, then choose 'Open spelling window' to input words you may think are incorrect and it will give suggestions. Hmm, whilst typing this info in the systray icon changed colours, needs more investigating to find out if it does offer real-time suggestions.
  21. Cool, no more opening MS Word to check spelling. This deserves to be listed in the pinned freeware section.
  22. A ZoneAlarm temporary file, it can't be deleted when ZoneAlarm is running. You can add the Realplayer history directory to the custom folders cleaning option.
  23. If you want it at your preferred size: 1. Open Microsoft Paint, click Image->Attributes->Input the size you want. 2. Click Edit->Paste From->Browse to the image 3. Manually center it, and then save as a new file.
  24. I searched high and low for it yesterday using Google and some online stores and couldn't find jack. Perhaps you should contact the people who wrote the article for information about it.
